@@MultiKamil97 No he sometimes goes into the baritone range, but not that often. It doesn't matter if he can hit a chest A4. He doesn't do that every time. His natural tessitura in most of his songs leans more towards a basso cantante than a bass-baritone.
@@bradycall1889he has sung many roles with high Fs and as late as 2006, he did Gianni Schicchi which goes up to a high G. He is also doing Scarpia here, which, goes up to a Gb (F#) and then resolves in the next few bars to a high F. Hell, just listening to the Ezio Pinza recording here in this same video and you'll hear that he is much higher than Pinza. A real pure bass wouldn't only sing King Phillip when you have Grande Inquisitor; he only performed certain roles in the pure basso repertoire anyway (i.e. Attila, which goes up to multiple high Fs and can be done by in between baritone voices, Bartolo from Barbieri etc.)
I recorded it from a news show. The VHS tape sat safely on a shelf (rarely watched) until the virus obliged me to spend a lot more time at home, and I finally had time to watch, digitize and share.
Beautiful bass voice
Bass-baritone
Thank you very much. It's very interesting. S.Ramey - is my favourite bass last time.
One of the greatest opera singer s.powerful voice
One of the greatest
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍BRAVISSIMO MAESTRO!
Wonderful personality!! :)
Thank you very much! Ramey is the last great bass-baritone.
@Aaron Anderson Today’s basses and bass baritones are undeveloped baritones or tenors.
Samuel Ramey is a bass. Not a bass-baritone
@@Mastermind-tx9ob Technically speaking, he is bass-baritone because he can achieve baritone range with no problem.

The Legend.
Just great.
I believe what Sam is saying about the American schools producing best operatic singers is true.
the unique bass
wish ramey's optimism was sincere, and not simply a sort of mediatic convention..
Where did you find this clip??
