Many thanks for the tutorial dude. It helped me a lot while trying to complete the pokedex, the funny thing is that I did the duplication glitch 2 times, and in both I got super lucky and encountered 2 good missignos on the first try (the first time was I got a Ghost missigno, the second time was a Kabutops Skeleton Missigno)
Did this for the 1st time ever today on my real Yellow cartridge. The 1st attempt produced a Level 7 Squirtle. On the second attempt, i captured the Level 80 Starmie and Ghost Missingno showed afterwards. This Starmie that has a 184 Special stat also corresponds with always encountering Ghost Missingno through the Ditto Glitch. Rare Candies have been cloned. Now its time to clone me some Master Balls. Thanks a bunch for this awesome video!!!.
Does one have to have done the Mew glitch in order to access the cloning glitch? I had NO idea the Mew glitch was even a thing, so now I'm stuck without one after beating 4 gyms. FML.
For anyone who's wondering, the pokémon you can find with a wild level 80 Starmie are: Rattata , Raticate, Nidorina, Geodude, Aerodactyl, Magnemite, Bad Missingno, Charmander, Squirtle, Wartortle, Good Missingno, Oddish, Vileplume and Weepinbell.
@@VeldWolf If you're playing Pokémon Yellow, you probably talked to the NPC who wants to trade Lickitung for Dugtrio. The species of the pokémon you'll find with this glitch, is determined by the 5th character of the traded pokémon's nickname. In-game trade Dugtrio's nickname is GURIO; as you can see, the fifth character is a capital O, which corresponds to Clefable's index number. If you want to get Starmie, you either have to talk to the NPC from this video, or the guy from Cinnabar who wants to trade Golduck for Rhydon.
@@0183D8CFoh but I’m playing on a German cartridge! So the nickname is probably different which changes the Pokémon species. So I’ll have to get another Mon with that Special stat.
This was absolutely worth doing! Thank you for your help. It worked for me I think faster than when you tried. I just wanted a shiny ditto for Gen II and now I have the master balls to catch one. Appreciate this again. Big help!
I should probably add that two different stable ones can appear. These are the ghost in the video, and the Kabutops skeleton. Whilst a third stable form exists (the Aerodactyl fossil), it cannot appear through this method. This is because the three stable variants appear by using special stats of 182 (Kabutops), 183 (Aerodactyl) and 184 (ghost). Due to the way Starmie's stats work at level 80, it cannot have a special stat of 183 when you encounter it, thus only two of the three stable forms can appear. Also, whilst nothing should go wrong, some claim the black screen has corrupted their saves. I, for one, have not had a save corruption after getting the black screen countless times, and everything should be fine if you follow the instructions exactly, but regardless, be aware of the potential risk. I'm not responsible if things go wrong.
@@f.b.i.853 Sorry for the late response. No, it isn't. At worst, if done incorrectly, you'll corrupt the save file and it will need a new game to be started.
@@Taser9001Hey, i got a lvl 80 pixie instead of a starnie and I get weird forms like a piece of glitch with stripes on my side or the same thing woth a 9 in the middle and no matter how long i try i cant get missingno. I just get ghost
I think I accidentally discovered a new glitch that pretty much makes duplication glitches impossible. The first time doing this a few months ago, I was able to redo the glitch several times, but on my recent go around I could only do it once. I got my 121 or whatever it is rare candies, but when I tried it again, I tried to do it on my own and got the order wrong. I talked to the girl before battling anyone. After that, I couldn’t trainer fly twice. Even after saving via pc. The second trainer, and in fact, no trainer will see me unless I walk up to them and talk to them. It’s like I’m completely invisible. Once you battle them though, it’s a never ending loop of battles that get glitchier and glitchier until it eventually crashes the game. It kinda scared me the first time tbh. Things got really weird in that battle. The Pokémon names were just gibberish, and the music was replaced with glitchy noises, like constant missingno cries and a really loud buzzing sound. After several loops, the game froze, the sound was that loud static buzz, and the textures slowly turned into that weird missingno texture. I did find that a gym trainer will see you and fix the game. Afterwards, once leaving the town, you encounter a glitch Pokémon and then it goes back to normal. However, I still can’t trainer fly twice. I 100% stand by this walkthrough, but DO NOT get the order wrong.
I very rarely comment, but this worked! For those who have run out of trainers to battle, you can use Strength to move a boulder and that should count as a battle.
In that case, the house in Fuschia city where you have to use Strength would be a good option, or maybe some cave like Victory Road or SeaFoam Islands perhaps.
This still totally works. Working on filling my yellow pokedex and lvling everything is slow going so I gave this a try, absolutely works and is greatly appreciated!
Here's a method to know if this will work on a certain attempt (only attempt if you have a pokémon level 80 or over): 1) do everything the video says except for using the poké doll 2) instead of using the doll, attempt to capture the starmie 3) check its special stat. If the number is 182, 183, or 184, you are going to encounter one of the stable missingno variants. If not, reset and try again.
@@pharaohyami5000 Not that I am aware of. Some different species can appear, like Squirtle and Oddish, iirc, and sometimes the screen goes black and never enters the battle (just reset like in the video if this happens), but I am fairly certain the only MissingNo that the Starmie can produce are the safe ones.
@@Taser9001 Do you need to get past Starmie for this to work or can you run away from Starmie? Also, any chance the other versions (Red/Blue, JP Red/Green/Blue) have this method?
@@pharaohyami5000 Yes, the unsafe Missingno. can appear. Starmie's stat varies from 165 to 189, and indexes 172, 174, 175, and 181 correspond to the "normal" "unsafe" version that will crash your game. I just did a hard reset if I saw those loading on my screen; no harm was done to my game when I did. Using the Pokedoll does make you run away. Starmie's speed stat is so much higher than yours at the point in the game you'll use this, though, that running is unlikely to succeed. Then you'll get KOed by a single attack due to the level difference. So the Pokedoll is the safe bet. I'd bet this doesn't work in RBG because the NPC trades different Pokemon, but I haven't confirmed. You can probably execute the glitch, but it will probably result in different Pokemon.
I'm currently doing my best on a Professor Oak challenge in Yellow (obviously can't complete due to needing Red Blue AND Yellow to complete Yellow) but I'm definitely doing this on my next playthrough in trying to get Gen 1 shinies
Great tutorial. To make future Missingno attempts easier, you can catch the Lv 80 Starmie. What the Starmie's Special stat is determines what appears. You can get the stable Missingno if it has a Special of 182, 183 or 184. If you catch it and want to do the trick again, you can do the Trainer Fly Escape like before, change PC boxes to save and reset to get your Start menu back and then battle a trainer, or push a bolder with Strength. (The guy who takes you to the Pewter City Museum also works.) All the game cares about is having a walk animation completed. Finally, go to Cinnabar Island Pokemon Mansion and find a Ditto. Have it transform into your Starmie, which makes it copy the Special. As the Pokemon found is determined by the Special stat of the last Pokemon you battled against, run away and use Dig or Escape Rope. Fly to the city closest to your long range trainer you escaped from if you hadn't healed at the closest Pokemon Center. (If you did, Dig/Escape Rope will take you there, no need to Fly. Another note is Teleport also works like Fly for escaping from trainers.) For a more detailed explanation, lookup Ditto Glitch.
Yeah, I'm aware of the Ditto manipulation strategy. It's good advice. The only reason I didn't go over it in the video is because this is an alternative to that method, and one that can be performed way earlier in the game. :)
A lot of the trainers in Pokemon Tower end their battles with level 23 and 24 Gastly or Hunter, if someone wants to skip a lot of steps out of Ditto manipulation, fight any of those trainers after flying away, most of them will generate Missingno consistently in Yellow version. A lot of good TM are accessible as soon as the player exits Rock Tunnel, it's a very good place to do some item farming.
Thank you so much for this! I saw a dozen other videos that seemed much more complicated than yours. I was about to give up but I found yours that was much more simpler. God bless you brother and thanks once again!🙏
Hell yeah my friend i followed your steps and i think my 6th or 7th attempt worked! After trying other methods i believe this is the fastest with the quick reset thanks. Also i was able to catch both the starmie and the missingno kabutups version
So a modification on this to avoid using up trainers. Use both the old man west of lavender and the trainer north of cereleum city, but what you do is 1. Old man > Fly to Cereleum, use box change, reset 2. Young man > Fly to Pewter City, use box change, reset 3. Speak to the man next to the Mart and say 'No' you haven't seen the mueseum, he'll then walk you there 4. Fly to either city, walk to the route where the person was, encounter glitch 1, it'll be Starmie lvl 80 5. Fly to the remaining city, encounter glitch 2, either crashing, a random pokemon or possibly, missingno. Hope this helps someone save hunting trainers.
By the way if You for some reason ran out of non long range trainers to battle, or only have ones you left for later, you can use the box save trick for a 2nd time after the rt 24 trainer, Restart and go to somewhere that has a strength boulder, most preferably fuschia in the wardens house as you don't want to waste time in seafoam or vicroad... in which case you could even do the 2nd box save in fuschia with the 2nd fly. The boulder is treated as an npc moving and so completes that part of the mew glitch. Save next to the machoke girl as in the video, and the starmie completes the waiting for battle and pokemon special stat register in ram part of the glitch, and you just rng for the missingno with these reloads for that sweet 129 items, If using usable in battle items, you could even use up 2 and create the item underflow (whether by guard drink (which I skip saffron asmuchaspossible for) or dry method)to get 8F! And be able to do some quirky things (Or yknow... have a hooked metopod leader if... that's your kink)
Using a strength boulder apparently avoids the chance of deleting an item ball, random npc or stationary pokemon eg Snorlax permanently from map data, but yes you can do this regular trainer battle if you haven't got to the point of giving the gold teeth to the warden, you can even lose to the trainer with a weak or reduced team as well.
I kno this video is old but I JUS DID THIS GLITCH years later after this video was made and it still works .. ALOT less complicated and takes half the time .. good job bro til this day u save lives 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👏🏽💯
Here in 2022 and this still works!!! You gained a sub off of this my friend! My only question is: once you have done this glitch can you replicate it numerous times?
Once you run out of trainers (excluding the ones that you need to start to trigger the glitch), the only choice is the Elite Four, Kabutops or Aerodactyl skeletons (Fossils) are the alternatives to the Ghost Missingno that are totally fine to get.
Very helpful! I even managed to do it with out Fly, only Teleport. Really easy! Though it took a number of resets. But who cares I got Rare Candies galore now! Thanks so much!
Dude... thank you lmfao. Tried ditto manip like 4 times and crashed every time, gave up on it. This works like a charm and is easily redoable for more infinite stuff. Also idk if this is common knowledge or not, but if you switch another item into your 6th item slot after the battle starts, it will also dupe that item. I got this to work first try and switched my rare candies up after I duped the master ball and the candies did the same thing. Don’t know if it’s possible to keep switching items in and duplicating them beyond 2 tho.
Around the internet there are the values you need to manipulate (your Pokemon special status to let a wild Ditto transfrom) the desired result, most of the time the main use of the Ditto manipulation are Pokemon missing from either of Red, Blue or Yellow versions, Mew or Ghost/Kabutops Fossil/Aerodactyl Fossil Missingno
I always get a clefable instead of Starmie and I have no idea why and its not working with Clafable anyone know how to fix it? I did the setup multiple times by batteling different trainers with the same resault. Also checked the special stat on clefable and it would never work because the stats arent high enough
OMG I CAUGHT THE STARMIE! I had all low level Pokémon as I’m doing the glitch just after gen 2 but now with the starmie im not worried about next time I face it.
can you repeat this glitch? ive tried speaking to the girl again about trading and following the steps but no pokemon spwans ? do i need to save and come back in again
So.. ever since I did this the first time and tried it again, the trainers I haven't battled yet didn't want to walk up to me. I then proceeded to go into Blaine's gym, get the question wrong, fight the trainer and everything went back to normal. I try to do the glitch again and it just doesn't work. The first part where you go to do the first mew glitch, fly to where you have a trainer you can do the mew glitch again on works but then I go to do the second mew glitch and it doesn't work.. Don't know why..
Thank you for the video.. I have on question.. I already beated all the trainers in the game.. What can I do now to clone more items?? Does it work with the elite four? Thank you
Sadly, trainers are required to do this method. However, you are not necessarily out of luck. If you use the PC to save the game, then reset to gain access to the menu again, as well as being able to talk to trainers without the game freezing, you should theoretically be able to go through the league, then use the classic Ditto manipulation strategy to get the MissingNo to appear. However, if every trainer you can escape from is beaten, you won't have any way to set up the glitch in the first place, in which case, you are truly out of luck, as far as I am aware. Hope that helps.
Hey! Thank you SO MUCH for this video because I've given up hope because I don't have a Pokemon at a 182-184 special stat. Question: Will this work even though I've already fought that certain trainer in the grass in cerulean city?? Am I able to use a different trainer that I haven't fought?
@@CosmicAnimosty138 Hey if you are still interested in doing the 182-184 strat. Getting a zapdos to lvl 60 or 61 with a few calciums will get you in that 182-184 range
It should work within any version. It comes down to the software, not the hardware. If it works on a cartridge (which it should), then it should work when plugged into the N64.

That is a Pikachu I traded to gen 2 to learn some moves that are in gen 1, but not learnable until gen 2. Annoyingly, whilst I have dones this without issue in the past, in this particular instance, it decided to no longer follow me upon returning to Yellow, as if it wasn't my original Pikachu, so I decided to evolve it if it would let me.
It needs to be somewhere where one step down will trigger a trainer encounter and you can pause fast enough to fly before they try and battle you. That house is merely one of the locations you can do that from.
Just spent about 30 minutes googling this, and I have been unable to find anyone who has had the same issue. Kadabra for Kadabra just shouldn't be happening. This suggests one of the following to me: - If playing with a cartridge, it may be fake. - If emulating, the ROM has been tampered. - If on Virtual Console, I haven't a clue. If you are indeed being offered Kadabra for Kadabra, and the above statements do not apply, then something has gone seriously wrong, and I haven't a clue what. To my knowledge, the only gen 1 in game trade that involves Kadabra is in the Japanese Blue, in which you receive a Graveler.
Hi! This might be a weird question but here we go- So I’m new to glitches and I wanted to mess around and get missingno on my Pokémon yellow save file. I haven’t gotten to lavender town yet because as I said I’ve been messing around with glitches and I was wondering if I could get missingno before lavender town. Perhaps to just prove something to my own self pfft- I’m trying to figure out if there’s a certain Pokémon that has the correct EV’s before lavender, do you know anything that might be helpful?
If you have an Abra, the glitch can be done earlier with Teleport. There are a couple of trainers just east of Vermilion that would work for the teleport/flight trick, but without access to a Poké Doll from Celadon, that Starmie might destroy you. EVs don't matter. The stat that normally matters is the special stat, not the IVs or EVs, so there is definitely nobody with that prior to Lavender Town, but if you talk to the right people as shown in the video, that shouldn't matter.
Hi, thank you so much for the guide! I have a couple questions, if you don't mind. 1) does the kabutops skeleton also duplicate the 6th slot, or only the ghost? and 2) you mentioned key items. In red and blue I clone the fossils so I can get living dex dupes + shiny hunt them, and if I ever need to get rid of them to free up the bag slot, I can do so by reviving and releasing them all. To your knowledge, will I still be able to do that in yellow, or does this version of missingno affect key items differently from red and blue? Thanks again for this great guide!
I always get a lvl 80 Clefable. And on the bridge I get the ghost but the name of the pokemon is ghost aswell, not MissingNo. therefore it's not cloning the item. How can I get to work?
It's hard to say how to get it to work if I am unable to witness your process and check for mistakes. If you follow this exactly, it should work out. From what I can tell (I don't know for certain) the interaction declining the trade for Machoke is what will determine the Starmie turning up, as I have battled multiple trainers to set this up different times. Therefore, without being able to see for myself, I'd assume that the issue is there. Have you already done the trade? Are you talking to someone else by mistake either instead of or after the girl giving Machoke? I assume her text if you do or have done the trade will contribute a different value, and talking to others would too. Also, this sounds daft, but are you on Yellow specifically, or Red/Blue? I haven't tested this on Red/Blue, and therefore don't know if it works with them, especially as the girl offers a different trade.
@@Taser9001 yeah I'm playing on yellow. I haven't done the trade with her and I haven't talked to someone else than her. I used fly and battled the same trainer you did. I started the glitch again and battled a different trainer - same issue. No starmie.
@@Aaroooo That's really weird. I'm not entirely sure then. Like I said, it is difficult to troubleshoot in this scenario, but if you work it out, feel free to post it as a response so others can read it, should they get the same issue. :)
Ok I love this method and it’s working? Ok let me break this down. So basically, I already traded with the girl to get a Machamp (Because I wanted them and I didn’t have any friends to trade with) So my real question is do I really need to say NO to her in order for this to work? Can I just simply talk to her and continue or am I just stuck? Because it does work normally. I get the Lvl. 80 Starmie and the second encounters I got so far are Weepinbells and a Missingno that freezes the game. I’m just wondering because I have a weird feeling every encounter with Missingno is a 100% freeze chance.
Taser9001 Ah I see. In the end I ran into Kabutops Skeleton Missingno and thankfully nothing bad happened. I was originally doing the Ditto method and got bored so I wanted to find another method. So I ran into your video. Thank you for the advice!
I assume you mean the Raichu? I had traded it to Silver to learn moves it cannot learn in Yellow, like Strength, and traded it back. I've done this in the past and the consequence was merely that Pikachu hated me for a while. This time, however, it just never followed me again upon return, so I figured I might as well evolve it if it lets me.
@@KaileyAestheticIf you have beaten the trainer you are flying from, they won't work. They have to be able to spot you. There are plenty this works with around the map though. They need to spot you the moment they come on screen. If you need to interchange which trainer you fly/teleport from, just remember to return to their location instead of the locations in my video.
@@Taser9001lmao, that’s kind of hilarious, honestly. Thank you for being so nice to reply to my questions. I have both Yellow & Silver & all others in my 3DS, & have Yellow & Silver on my GB. Is there anyway to do it on the DS besides trading without another DS? Since PokeTransporter isn’t supported anymore.
Great tutorial but one quick question regarding trainer names. This setup is different to the one in RBG obviously but I know in those games the missingno encounter is tied to certain characters in your name being in the correct place 3, 5 or 7 and thats why the Old Man glitch works. Does the Yellow setup still require a specific name or does this method circumvent that requirement entirely?
I am trying to do this without fly and only teleport and the 2nd trainer isn't giving me the ! before I teleport away and my menu works right away without the trainer battle so idk what is going on hahah (the trainer battle will prompt the starmie to pop but not the 2nd pokemon to dupe the items)
Teleport should work the same way. I'd retrace your steps and make sure that you are definitely not missing anything out, or trying to use trainers who you have already battled. The trainers should always show the !, provided that they can spot you from the edge of the screen. Make sure you aren't using a trainer who needs you to be closer to spot you.
@@Taser9001 thanks for the reply! I did go over it again and same thing so idk what was up. I even tried the same well known mew trainer twice with no luck. All good though I am just going back to transfer over to bank/home anyway. *edit* got it to work even though the 2nd trainer wasn't giving the ! not sure what I did different but it was able to get it lol
I wouldn't risk it. Catching MissingNo can have a multitude of side effects on your save file, including corrupting the save, and several, irreversible glitches. However, there is a really cool thing you can do in Red, Blue and Yellow where you receive a MissingNo from a fossil. I highly recommend tat you look this up, as the MissingNo is actually shiny huntable through this method, and when traded to gen 2, based on its stats (attack, I think), it can transform into a Pokémon, and is also the only way to truly full odds hunt some Pokémon in the gen 1 and 2 games. Hell of a lot of set up though.
As far as I am aware, it does not. The way exploits and bugs like this work is to do with numerical values in the game's code, so if that person has different text, the values will be different.
I think there is one to the east of Fuschia, and maybe one or two in the water south of Fuschia. I think.

Or does it have the be the route north of Cerulean?
Hey, I just learned about this glitch and I am trying to clone master balls and rare candies for a mew shiny hunt. I messed up the first time now the trainers that I used won't react to me walking towards them, how do I fix this? Or do I need to make a new save and go through the game again?
Is it that they are not responding as if you battles them, or that they don't respond during the glitch? If it is the latter, leave room for them to move to you. If it is the former, I don't know of a way to fix that, so I think the only options would be to find new trainers to escape from, or start a new save.
@@Taser9001 What happened was I missed the first part of the video and did the glitch with the trainer near nugget bridge then battled and went and saved near the girl forgetting that I needed another glitch trainer. I tried leaving the area and coming back I shut the game down and turned it back on with no change. Edit: I figured it out XD. Thank you!
So far I've seen that all missingno glitches on yellow version involve that trainer hiding in the tall grass, so it means that if I have already beaten him I won't get the glitch?
If you have other trainers you can escape from in the same manner, you can use them in place of that guy. Just remember to go where the replacement trainer is instead of Nugget Bridge.
Did they patch this? I can’t even get my menu to pop up on the first trainer encounter. Now granted I did beat the trainer in the grass so I have to use another trainer.
No, it isn't patched. The menu shouldn't be able to open during the initial glitch, but that's why you can save via changing boxes in the PC and reset to get the menu back, as the PC still works.
Hey, both of my trainers were on the same route, would this impact anything at all? Once I get the level 80 Starmie to pop up, I return to the route and nothing happens…
It is possible that because both trainers are in the same place, they cancel each other out. When the menu pops up for the Starmie encounter, it might be that because the same location would trigger both of your menu pop ups, that the other trigger happens at the same time, but to no effect due to the Starmie taking priority. Cannot say for certain though. Try using a different route for the 2nd trainer, as I reckon my theory is likely the reason why.

If you still have trainers you can 'flee' from before entering battle, it is still doable via the box save method, beating the league, and then Ditto manipulating the MissingNo. However, if EVERY trainer is beaten, I am afraid you are out of luck.
Who you fight shouldn't matter as the steps after that are what determines the Pokémon you get. Remember though, they must be able to walk up to you and have room to move. If they spot you but cannot move, or if you talk to them, the game will freeze.
Wow that was a fast response. Thank you though for making this video. I'm tired of the Ditto tricks because they are more complex. Your video is much easier to follow

@@Enloe032889 Glad it worked! This trick should work on any version of the game as it is code in the software that allows it. Shouldn't have anything to do with the hardware.
Ok I do not recommend catching the missingno. I did this.. had almost 100% the game and had a level 40 missingno.. lost on the final battle of elite four. Restarted the console and my save was currupted. This being for a second time I think i'm done with Pokémon old school for a bit lolol
May attempt this all again in the future. Will never catch missingno again. Was cool as shit tho. Would cause several graphical errors during fights. Ext. Seemed stable until elite 4 :( RIP
Yeah, it's generally a bad idea to catch it. There is a cool glitch you can do though where you receive a MissingNo when reviving a fossil, and if it has shiny stats, you can manipulate its attack stat via EVs to turn into gen 2 shiny Pokémon when traded to Gold, Silver or Crystal.
This was after running the glitch a total of 3 times and duplicating rarecandy, masterballs and Hp Up. All seemed gravy. I assume it was catching the missingno that was a bad idea but I'm an idiot and cant help myself. Anyone doing this in the future.. I recommend not catching the missingno in yellow. it could be possible to just bank it and not touch it.. but again.. I'm not 100% sure exactly where things broke but I assume it was taking missingno into the elite 4 lol
As far as I am aware, no. The exploit specifically clones the 6th item in your bag. One thing that might work is if you enter the battle with Missingno with item 1 in the 6th slot, then during the battle, switch the item positions using the select button in the item menu. Let me know if that works, as I have not tested it myself.
@@Taser9001 Yeah I see that switching item positions works, the 6th item in your bag with one other item, but you can't clone more than that in one go.
@@KenDaKingArrives yes...the second item switched during the missingno battle gets duplicated after catching the missingno!!! Leave an open slot for it in your party otherwise the game will crash while attempting to withdraw missingno from your pc.
@@icefire2007 Thanks, but I already tried it and confirmed that besides your party it can also be sent to your box, you just need to release it from there. It's how I've been doing it with no problem.
FML.
For anyone who's wondering, the pokémon you can find with a wild level 80 Starmie are: Rattata
, Raticate, Nidorina, Geodude, Aerodactyl, Magnemite, Bad Missingno, Charmander, Squirtle, Wartortle, Good Missingno, Oddish, Vileplume and Weepinbell.
Any idea why I might be getting a Clefable instead of a Starmie?
@@VeldWolf If you're playing Pokémon Yellow, you probably talked to the NPC who wants to trade Lickitung for Dugtrio. The species of the pokémon you'll find with this glitch, is determined by the 5th character of the traded pokémon's nickname. In-game trade Dugtrio's nickname is GURIO; as you can see, the fifth character is a capital O, which corresponds to Clefable's index number. If you want to get Starmie, you either have to talk to the NPC from this video, or the guy from Cinnabar who wants to trade Golduck for Rhydon.
@@0183D8CF I 100% used the box trading a Cubone and still end up with a Clefable :/ thanks though
@@0183D8CFoh but I’m playing on a German cartridge! So the nickname is probably different which changes the Pokémon species. So I’ll have to get another Mon with that Special stat.

I know this might be a very late reply, but I really appreciate you making this video. It helped out a bunch! Thanks so much!
This was absolutely worth doing! Thank you for your help. It worked for me I think faster than when you tried. I just wanted a shiny ditto for Gen II and now I have the master balls to catch one. Appreciate this again. Big help!
I'm amazed how people just keep finding ways to crack the game. Well done!
Is this dangerous for my 3ds?
@@f.b.i.853 Sorry for the late response. No, it isn't. At worst, if done incorrectly, you'll corrupt the save file and it will need a new game to be started.
Do you need to fight the hiker that you fought
There are 3 variants that are OK to get, Ghost, Fossil Kabutops and Fossil Aerodactyl, the rest are potential data destroyers.
In that case, the house in Fuschia city where you have to use Strength would be a good option, or maybe some cave like Victory Road or SeaFoam Islands perhaps.
btw how would that work, when after the trainer fly, you can't open your menu? (which is needed since you have to manually activate strength)
How when you can't open the menu?
This still totally works. Working on filling my yellow pokedex and lvling everything is slow going so I gave this a try, absolutely works and is greatly appreciated!
Here's a method to know if this will work on a certain attempt (only attempt if you have a pokémon level 80 or over):
1) do everything the video says except for using the poké doll
2) instead of using the doll, attempt to capture the starmie
3) check its special stat.
If the number is 182, 183, or 184, you are going to encounter one of the stable missingno variants. If not, reset and try again.
Very good note to add!
@@Taser9001 Is there a chance that the wrong Missingno can appear during this method?
You're a life saver dude. It actually worked on my second attempt (got a lvl 7 Vileplume on the first one). Thanks!
God bless you brother and thanks once again!🙏
ill add that if you forgot pokedoll or you need to buy something you can fly to celadon to stock up after beating the trainer.

@@Taser9001 Another question, I can repeat this glitch or only is one time?
So a modification on this to avoid using up trainers. Use both the old man west of lavender and the trainer north of cereleum city, but what you do is
1. Old man > Fly to Cereleum, use box change, reset
2. Young man > Fly to Pewter City, use box change, reset
3. Speak to the man next to the Mart and say 'No' you haven't seen the mueseum, he'll then walk you there
4. Fly to either city, walk to the route where the person was, encounter glitch 1, it'll be Starmie lvl 80
5. Fly to the remaining city, encounter glitch 2, either crashing, a random pokemon or possibly, missingno.
Hope this helps someone save hunting trainers.
Did anyone else try this yet
@@ShawnSanchez-m9j I can try it again, but you may as well try it, as if I wrote it down I'm pretty sure it worked for me. RBY obviously.
By the way if You for some reason ran out of non long range trainers to battle, or only have ones you left for later, you can use the box save trick for a 2nd time after the rt 24 trainer,
Restart and go to somewhere that has a strength boulder, most preferably fuschia in the wardens house as you don't want to waste time in seafoam or vicroad... in which case you could even do the 2nd box save in fuschia with the 2nd fly.
The boulder is treated as an npc moving and so completes that part of the mew glitch.
Save next to the machoke girl as in the video, and the starmie completes the waiting for battle and pokemon special stat register in ram part of the glitch, and you just rng for the missingno with these reloads for that sweet 129 items,
If using usable in battle items, you could even use up 2 and create the item underflow (whether by guard drink (which I skip saffron asmuchaspossible for) or dry method)to get 8F! And be able to do some quirky things
(Or yknow... have a hooked metopod leader if... that's your kink)
Using a strength boulder apparently avoids the chance of deleting an item ball, random npc or stationary pokemon eg Snorlax permanently from map data, but yes you can do this regular trainer battle if you haven't got to the point of giving the gold teeth to the warden,
you can even lose to the trainer with a weak or reduced team as well.
Do you know why I'm getting a Clefable instead of a Starmie?
only one that worked, t6hank you so much

What does stable MissingNo's back sprite look like when it uses the ghost/Kabutops/Aerodactyl front sprites?
Im god knows how late. You can talk to the museum guy after the box change, you dont need to battle a trainer
I managed to pull this off with the Kabutops skeleton. Can it be repeated using the same locations or do I need to redo it with new trainers?
So long as you don't battle either trainer that you fly away from, it should be repeatable.
Oh, and of course, so long as you have trainers left to battle.
I got it with kabuto skeelton too first time since childhood lmao
Once you run out of trainers (excluding the ones that you need to start to trigger the glitch), the only choice is the Elite Four, Kabutops or Aerodactyl skeletons (Fossils) are the alternatives to the Ghost Missingno that are totally fine to get.
I guess it won't work for me now because you can't leave town to fight a trainer after flying to it.
I'm currently doing a New Glitch Nuzlocke and this helped me level up my lv7 glitched-in mons with rare candies! Thank you!!!
Very helpful! I even managed to do it with out Fly, only Teleport. Really easy! Though it took a number of resets. But who cares I got Rare Candies galore now! Thanks so much!
I got the ghost, killed it, but no doubled items. Item Slot 6 was not changed at all
Dude... thank you lmfao.

The Thunder Badge enables the use of Fly. HM 02 is located just west of Celadon City, in the house north of Cycling Road.
Thanks good
at the beginning, when ur at that house before u fly to cerulean, can u save anywhere or does it have to be that exact location
It needs to be somewhere where one step down will trigger a trainer encounter and you can pause fast enough to fly before they try and battle you. That house is merely one of the locations you can do that from.

In my yellow version. The girl says kadabra for kadabra... and pop up a golduck lvl 153... what im doing grong
Just spent about 30 minutes googling this, and I have been unable to find anyone who has had the same issue. Kadabra for Kadabra just shouldn't be happening. This suggests one of the following to me:
- If playing with a cartridge, it may be fake.

Hi! This might be a weird question but here we go-
So I’m new to glitches and I wanted to mess around and get missingno on my Pokémon yellow save file.
@@Taser9001 thank you so much, I didn’t think you’d respond haha!! I appreciate it, really ;)
The skeleton works fine, and I just didn't think you could get multiples of key items, but if it does work with fossils, that could be interesting.
Taser9001 Awesome, thanks!
So basically, I already traded with the girl to get a Machamp (Because I wanted them and I didn’t have any friends to trade with)
So my real question is do I really need to say NO to her in order for this to work? Can I just simply talk to her and continue or am I just stuck?
Because it does work normally. I get the Lvl. 80 Starmie and the second encounters I got so far are Weepinbells and a Missingno that freezes the game.
I’m just wondering because I have a weird feeling every encounter with Missingno is a 100% freeze chance.
Another thing: The Missingno freeze screen I keep getting is basically a weird glitchy mess of green and red.
You need to say no. It has to be specific dialogue for certain values in the code to line up, as far as I am aware.
Taser9001
Ah I see.
In the end I ran into Kabutops Skeleton Missingno and thankfully nothing bad happened.
I was originally doing the Ditto method and got bored so I wanted to find another method. So I ran into your video. Thank you for the advice!
How exactly did you do the Pikachu glitch? o.o I looked online but couldn’t find it anywhere. Do you have a video you have on it, or can tell me how?
By the way- what if you already beat the first trainer you fly away from & the “!” Doesn’t appear?):
I assume you mean the Raichu? I had traded it to Silver to learn moves it cannot learn in Yellow, like Strength, and traded it back. I've done this in the past and the consequence was merely that Pikachu hated me for a while. This time, however, it just never followed me again upon return, so I figured I might as well evolve it if it lets me.
@@KaileyAestheticIf you have beaten the trainer you are flying from, they won't work. They have to be able to spot you. There are plenty this works with around the map though.
The name makes no difference as far as I am aware.
@@Taser9001 Thanks for the confirmation and quick reply. :)
*edit*
got it to work even though the 2nd trainer wasn't giving the !
not sure what I did different but it was able to get it lol
Dose the growlith evolution glitch work on your partner pikachu?
I had traded it to Gold to teach it Dig and Strength, and it no longer followed me, so I evolved it.
6:02 hi what do you mean by first location ?
The location of the first Mew glitch you performed. In my case, west of Lavender Town.
Taser9001 thanks for the quick reply kind sir. Who’s the second trainer 6.53? Sorry I’m still new to this
Can we catch the stable missingo, and use it?
Does it still work if you have already done the cuebone trade?
As far as I am aware, it does not. The way exploits and bugs like this work is to do with numerical values in the game's code, so if that person has different text, the values will be different.
So in this case the code will change as the text will be different?…
Are there trainers after Fushia City I can perform this glitch with? Because outside of the one near Cerulean City, I might have battled all of them.
I think there is one to the east of Fuschia, and maybe one or two in the water south of Fuschia. I think.
@@Taser9001 then I might not have entirely screwed myself after all.
@@Taser9001 I can get the Starmie to come out consistently now, but not the summon after it.
Do I go to the city nearest to the route where I triggered the second Fly Glitch and then time my menu opening as I get to the route the same way I would trigger the Fly Glitch?
Once I realized my mistake I did it with another trainer and saved infront of the girl again but nothing was reacting as it should so I thought I could redo it but once I got back to the trainer at nugget bridge the would no longer walk up to me to start a battle once they saw me.
@@Taser9001 Thank you!
I'll try!
@@Taser9001 Yeah you were spot on mate, used a trainer in the Silph Co and got the missingno on attempt number 6! Appreciate this loads, saves me from hours of tedious grinding!
I have a question Taser9001 does the item need to be in a certain spot in your bag?
6th slot.
@@Taser9001 thank you 😁
Does anyone know if this can be done on an actual gameboy?
Should be able to. The software went through no changes when put on the Virtual Console.
@@Taser9001 thank you I’ll be taking a break from it now though. I was already at the point where I could do the glitch but when I put my cart into the n64 transfer pak to play on Pokémon stadium it deleted my save file 🫠🫠🫠
Question where do you get a poke doll
You can purchase them at Celadon's department store. Get a spare for the Mimic Girl in Saffron. She'll give you TM Mimic for it.
@@Taser9001 what city is that in?
I have Yellow on my 3DS and I'm wanting to duplicate TMs... but I may have sorta beat EVERY trainer in the game. Help? Haha
If you still have trainers you can 'flee' from before entering battle, it is still doable via the box save method, beating the league, and then Ditto manipulating the MissingNo. However, if EVERY trainer is beaten, I am afraid you are out of luck.
@@Taser9001 I fought the old man on route 8? Where the glitch starts but not the second glitch dude. Am I SOL?
So you fought a hiker in Lavender Town. Since I already fought him, can I fight another trainer instead?
Who you fight shouldn't matter as the steps after that are what determines the Pokémon you get. Remember though, they must be able to walk up to you and have room to move. If they spot you but cannot move, or if you talk to them, the game will freeze.
Wow that was a fast response. Thank you though for making this video. I'm tired of the Ditto tricks because they are more complex. Your video is much easier to follow
Does this work for Gameboy Advance?
Just tried it on a gameboy advance, it does work! Thank you for the template though. Can't "reset" per se, just turn it off then back on after the saves right before you say to reset.
Idk if anyone will see this but can you do this more than once? Ex: once for rare candies and another time for master balls? @Taser9001
As many times as needed.
If I wanted to do it multiple times I would repeat the steps just have to find a new trainer to battle? @Taser9001
I already did the trade can I still do the glitch??
As far as I am aware, no. I think the coding value of the exact dialogue may determine some of it.
Can you duplicate more than two items at once in one go?
Darn I think I battled all the trainers in the game already 😕
Got it 3rd try thanks a bunch
