The Town in the UK Nobody Visits 🇬🇧

- I set out on a new adventure to show you the real side to the UK, a country full of characters and council estates. However, is there more to the UK than just this? I started my journey in Cornwall and ventured into a town you've probably never heard of called Cambourne. A small town which unfortunately has a bad reputation, but what was the town really like? Let's find out 🏴

Kat really adds to your videos! She’s a little ray of sunshine!
Yeah she's lovely definitely adds something positive to his vids
Brilliant video, mate. The UK journey begins!! Wendall is a legend for showing you around, and sometimes, the biggest heroes are dressed as turkeys. Looking forward to more. You're getting better and better.
Legend! Cheers dude
Pasties were brought to the USA by the Cornish. Pasties were a staple for miners in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan back as far at the early to mid-1800s.
God be with you always Ben the man. Lovely to see both of you again, with your friend Wendell. Your country is one of the greatest country, still cold on summer days and so neat. Stay safe Ben and Kat the lovely couple😊
Turkey Man is a character. Love that he is raising money for cancer. The irony wasn't lost on me that he announced this while smoking. Keep on, keeping on Turkey Man
Turkey man is the epitome of not all hero's wear capes.
Benjamin , This was a fun video for sure ! Thank you for talking to the locals . They all, including you have different accents ! I am from the SouthEast of the USA in Georgia , so I know people can hear our regional accents !
Good job on approaching and talking to the locals .
Do you know , that for at least a year I thought you were Mr Bald’s ( of Bald and Bankrupt) nephew ! I don’t know why Thought that ! 😂🤣
Thanks for the upload. Nice to see you back.
cheers mate! loads of content coming now

Thanks for the good vibes mate!
Wow, what an incredible journey through the beautiful landscapes of Britain, from the charming Cornwall to the vibrant town of Cambourne! The video captured the essence of these places so well, taking us on a visual adventure filled with stunning scenery and hidden gems. I loved how the vlogger highlighted the unique cultural aspects and historical significance of each stop along the way. It's like I was right there exploring alongside them. Can't wait for more captivating vlogs like this!🫰
Glad you enjoyed it!

Visited Cornwall from Poland twice in 2019 - a week each time, used public transport only. Love the place. Nice towns, beautiful scenery, friendly people, strong community feel, plus stunning St. Michael's Mount. Didn't see any no-go places. Went through Camborne on the top of a double-decker. Had good weather most of the time. Got wallopped with heavy rain and wind on a coastal hike from Land's End, but it was a worthwhile experience.
Top experience 👏🏼😎
I like a Pole who uses the word Wallop. Come to Poznan sometime
Used public transport only?? That's absolutely insane. None of us use the public transport lol. It barely exists!
Awesome content, variety of Canborne locals, Turkey Man stood out, big heart.
Legend mate 👏🏼
Another great video Ben! Keep the content coming. 👍🏻
Thanks! Will do!
Brilliant as always Ben. Absolutely love your videos!
Thanks a ton!
Great to meet up and film mate 🙏
top man!
Love when you are hanging out with Kat! She is so funny and does cute stuff. Thanks for the tour, looking forward to the next one.
Glad you enjoyed!
Looking forward to this cheers Ben
This video instead of a vlog turned into entertainment because this is the perfect view of a day in the life in the UK 🤣
The reality 😎
Very interesting, my grandfather was from Cambourne, he immigrated to the US in Oct. 1912 (six months after the Titanic) and landed at the famous Ellis Island. He came back for a visit in 1958 and 1971. He used Cornish words from time to time.
Hi Ben, nice to see you back in the UK. Looking forward to what you will bring us on your UK tour.
Cheers my man! Few more vids to come
This was really cool. I enjoyed this every bit as much as your videos overseas
Awesome, thank you!
Welcome back amigo! 🍻
Good to see you back mate
More to come! Thanks mate 👏🏼
Glad you doing a series there. Everyone is vlogging the same Country’s. Asia and South America. Go to the Lakes district in Cumbria. It’s beautiful there.
Appreciate you watching mate yeah UK is a land of content
Lived in Cornwall from 1966-1970 at a place near Newquay. Had some great summers there while my Dad flew Shackleton out of RAF St Mawgan. Lived at an old RAF base St Eval which was awful.
I haven't been to Camborne for about ten years, but it doesn't look like it's changed very much and at least it's not full of boarded up shops and litter everywhere. I think it's a former mining town, but it seems to have survived the closure of the copper mines quite well really. I've been to a lot worse places in the midlands and the north. You only pay the toll on the Tamar Bridge when going from Cornwall into Devon, so I guess you could always avoid that by going via Callington and Tavistock to get to Plymouth. I really enjoyed this video and I'm looking forward to seeing what you think about other places in the country 🙂.
The shot with the island ,,,the sky looked like a Turner painting for real. thx from Fla.
u have a knack of making boring places look interesting and a few hidden gems ie Turkey Man... Excellent vid Ben thank u
My pleasure! Thanks for watching
Having lived in a rundown westcountry town, I can relate to the people of Camborne struggling to find anything good to say about it. It was a dismal existence and one I was happy to escape from.
It's wild that towns in the U.K. that are considered run down and dismal would be full of yuppies here in the U.S. and considered beacons of urban planning.
Going down hill mate
@@BackpackerBenGoing up Camborne Hill 😅
@@f.dmcintyre4666 Yeah I'd not been long out of school and couldn't get a job for shit. I wasn't a local after moving there with my family. All the jobs went to the locals and they weren't that great. I could see a bleak future. I moved back to Hampshire in 1993 and didn't look back. I've been working and living well since. It's probably OK for a holiday down that way but I wouldn't want to live there.
Good !
Loved this one
Great new series
Cat and Ben FTW
Ben and Kat great video love Britain love your Fraze mincing about and fair play 😁 looking forward to the next one subscriber Australia 💚
Glad you enjoyed it 😎🙏🏼🙏🏼
Camping in Cornwall, I did it and what a night, pissed it down non stop ! Great video subscribed cheers
Hello Ben and Kat! Love those Cornish Pasties!! ♥️ So happy to see you posting again! I really enjoyed this particular Vlog as my Mum was Scottish from Glasgow. Hoping to make it to the "Old Country" before too long!! ♥️♥️♥️😄😄😄😎👍👍👍😉Warm regards from the Allens here in Thailand!! 🐒🐘 🌴🐒🐘🌴
Glad you enjoyed it! I go Glasgow tomorrow 😎
Great to see Kat! She makes the video --- as always. Richard in Reno
love the people of cambourne haha. great start to a legendary series 🍻
Hi Ben hope you enjoyed your time with Mr Wendall and of course hope we hope you enjoyed your time in CORNWALL
Absolutely loved it there as always
The Muppets Turrkeeeey guy ( As they said on the Muppets) plus Turkey, turkey, turkey was chased around with the meat clever then usually singing in a pot throwing all the onions and carrots everywhere. However this guy was really great its so nice seeing other people doing what they can to help out the less fortunate anď you Ben posting his information so others can also help was amazing. Goodluck can't wait for the next videos of Slum Life UK.
I get this strange deja vu feeling that I've seen this series before were Ben however was in the driver's seat, and someone else - can't recall whom - was sitting in the passenger seat narrating the trip the way Ben is doing in this one. What an utterly strange and surreal feeling it is watching this one!
Not sure if you’re being sarcastic but bald and bankrupt had about an hour long video early this year of this same thing where Ben was driving lol
They did a uk roadtrip last year!
🤣🤣
I think I saw them somewhere rough in Scotland eating battered haggis.
I will show this to all my friends here in Finland. Perfect promo for UK tourism.
Might put them off 😆
@@BackpackerBen LOL. The one positive thing mentioned was the good people and you proved it. Do more England. It's always mad lads everywhere. Hard places create real people. The places are typical and boring, but the people are not. Thanks! :)
Subscribed to Turkey man. What a legend.
Lovely Cornwall and Devon ❤Getting there from London is special
So fun...thanks for these UK vids with Kat.
Glad you like them!
Love the uk vids Ben! Can’t wait for US
its good to see you making video's again
Hey, thanks 🙏🏼
So keen for the new vids! Ben I’m from Jersey Channel Islands. Please come to the islands one day and I’ll take you around Jersey! There’s so many stunning beaches and great sites. I’d love to show you.
Pity you can't tow it a thousand miles further south, then it might be alright.
@15:49 You dont realise how close to death you were with Ronnie Pickering pulling up....
😅loooooool
I hope you are going to visit the east coast this time Ben. Enjoy your trip.
Been to St Michael's Mount about 20 years ago, tried to revisit in 2013 but due to strong winds the boats didn't operate and the tide was already coming in strong, so left it for another day and still not managed to make it by now 2023. Cornwall is special and St Michael's Mount is a gem in its crown, at least as I see it ))
Enjoy St Helens and Liverpool on your journey ... Such awesome places ...
Sound mate
$2.60?😂 The Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge that connects Brooklyn and Staten Island in NY is $17.00!! THATS ridiculous.
💀💀💀🤷🏼♂️ scam
The Cornish are smart. Let you in to their personal hellhole for free and then charge you to return to the wonder that is Devon. #creamfirst
Yeses finally Ben and Kat ❤❤❤❤❤
I enjoyed this and i"m looking forward to the rest of this series. I haven't been to the UK in years. I always enjoyed the food when I was there. Cheers from Costa Rica 🇨🇷!
Glad you enjoyed it! and thanks for watching bro
@@BackpackerBenbread 🍞?
@@Breadonbread98yea lol british food😂
The weather is generally better than people think in the UK . It’s been extremely unusual this year
Agreed. So bad
we have the same tent - excellent choice Ben - happy camping
Awesome! Thank you!
That pastry looked like a bloody empanada 😂
Oddly enough, empanadas originated from Galicia in Spain, which has a great deal of historic connections with Cornwall especially during the Celtic era. The architecture and even the scenery in Galicia is more similar to Cornwall than it is the rest of Spain.
Love Your Videos Backpacker Ben I Have Been Watching Your Videos For Awhile 🙂Watching from New Brunswick Canada. 🙂
Awesome! Thank you!
Great video, I go Cornwall twice a year , mostly the nicer parts to be honest lol but I'll give this town a go , looks interesting.
Look forwards to the Trip Ben 👌
Few more vids to come mate! Thanks for watching
Nice to see the subjects of the king are being so well taken care of.
Big thumbs up. And big respect to turkey man
Keep going Ben ❤
🙌
Top Video Ben ❤ Glad you've chosen England need to shine alight on what good people are here - Would love for you to come to Accrington and Film this old Historical Town. Anyways keep safe and GodBless.
Jacob from accrington
cheers mate! will try my best to film many places! currently in Sheffield
@@BackpackerBen hopefully this typical English weather turns Sunny for your Travels Pal 👍☀️😎
Do you still try and throw spoons at the moon in Accy?
@@carlspark2992 whaaaat? 🤣
@JDevlinAccySide I'll take that as a yes then 😉
Bring an air mattress and a few tarps when you go car camping. Tuck the tarps under the edges of the tent so they do not pool water under the tent floor from water rolling off the tent. Do not lean things against the wall of the tent, or the rain will soak through.
Its crazy the weather you have there. Its currently 100f (38c) where I live (new Orleans Louisiana) and its the middle of the night. Id love a nice chilly day. thanks for showing us around. Now I know why you travel so much... 😆😆
Depressing uk 🇬🇧 mate
lol 20:49, Turkeyman dishing out quests
I might be wrong but Mr. Bald&Bankrupt looks slightly different this time.
I am presently planning a trip through Great Britain. Good timing. I'll be watching your videos closely. I will stay in B & Bs. So please include along your way.
Do it mate. Good people here
wow, great content!
Anothe great video. Love your channel ♥
Glad you enjoy it!
I could definitely get down with a steak and potato pasty(ie)? Looks like a savory pot pie you eat with your hands. We have something similar, but sweet dessert pies, like lemon, apple, blueberry etc...
Love how Ben is speaking in pigeon English when buying the Cornish pastie…
Growing up in Wisconsin, my mother and her mother made pasties. That side of the family is Welsh. I've always wondered why they're not more popular.
Probably because in the USA you say pasty you think of something else.
Well done . Always good viewing. You two are a fine pair ! 😂
The history of the pasty is about feeding men and boys that went down the mines. The thick crust is made for you to hold in your hands ,so you not meant to eat the crust,as your hands would be dirty.
please explore Portugal next with Kat
viva portugal
The Turkey Man is a legend ❤
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Ohh I really hope Ben comes to the Midlands! It's a bit grim but lots of characters
Next tour for sure
I found you through Bald and Bankrupts channel. I always thought you were a fellow Janner! This video confirmed it.
Appreciate it mate!
Did a long distance train journey from aberdeen to Penzance in one day in June. Its a beautiful country.
Yes we want to see Briran!
I was just in Marazion a few weeks ago, damn wish I could have bumped into you! Love Cornwall, so much to see down there, like a whole other country.
welcome to the UK! is this how you picture it? let us know
Well, since i’m English and ive got family in Peterborough well … it’s definitely less of a shithole than Peterborough 😂
great episode 🇵🇹
Beautiful!😊❤
We don't picture it...We Live it... although I have moved out to the Sticks..East Side..🌴
Great to see a new video from you guys, it's been too long! Even longer for Mr Bald .... What have you done with him???
"this is crap init" the most British bit of the video. Class
A brutal truth
Ben, youre alive! lol yes!... as always amazing work talking to the camera. how did you get so good at talking to the camera?
I used to walk across the Tamar bridge from Plymouth to Cornwall... back when i lived there in the 70's..in truth there was hardly any traffic on the bridge back then
Enjoyed that! Are you heading up the north west coast?
Since you are going up north go to whitby, lindisfarne, lake district,Bamburgh castle heard good things about Bamburgh csstle, lindisfarne
I'd love to see your banter in Northern Ireland. My family is from County Mayo and always has negative things to say about it and I'd love to see a raw perspective about the place.
I’m going in 3 days 😎
i'd love to run to that sea & have a swim right now.. Good to see ya Ben & Kat x
cheers dude!
