    Forgot to mention it in the video but NEVER mismatch leather colors - shoes and belts. Not sure I need to say that in 2020 but black=black | brown=brown

      I heard that only applies when you wear a suit? In that case they literally need to be the same color, but I heard if you’re going for a casual look then they don’t have to exactly match? For example, if you wear some dark wash jeans with a button up, and your shoes are light brown, but you are wearing a dark brown belt, is that ok?

    The last few times I’ve suited up I have actually thought it looked much better but I still had the belt loop problem as you suggested. The first time I heard someone suggest skipping the belt I thought it sounded crazy, but as my style preferences have changed over the years I’ve really started to appreciate the clean look of not having a belt.

      They need to make the belt loop 1 or two channels around the waist that open to the front and back or just the front of the pant.

I'm definitely going to grab the brown and hope they eventually release an Oxblood or burgundy calf too! Agree on all your points Jon, like usual. Kavalier thanks for the honest review. I do prefer the Kore version when asked. I should say that I own a lot of these kind of ratcheting belts with no holes because they are all better than belts with the holes but some are better than others for sure. For me I prefer the quality and design of kore version. The only issue I had with them is they make regular fashion belts and gun belts which can get confusing and they do not have free shipping. My older brother got a canvas tan gun belt that rathcets and he swears by it.

      The Kav didn't reply?? They're brilliant! But they used to be fragile and get stretched out & raggedly where you peg the prong. But I recently bought a brown, a maroon & a black that are way more substantial than those old ones and I'm happy again.

    Would also add- if wearing button tab suspenders, brown leather tabs go with brown leather shoes; black leather tabs go with black leather shoes. Have a few vintage suspenders that are all leather (1" wide or less); same color rules apply.

    Slide type belts can definitely wear out! I’ve been using them for years and the originals i had weren’t the best quality, the leather still warped from being worn or banged against things.

  • @rtwo8619

    I used to own a few anson belts and transitioned back to “regular” belts since (notwithstanding this improvement in leather quality which is much much needed), I always thought the “problem” with traditional belts was always over stated and exaggerated for marketing purposes. Unless you’re yoyoing in weight on a regular basis you don’t need micro adjustments. The mechanism is also chunky as you said and way less elegant than a classic belt.

    • @spotsill

      My problem with ratchet belts is the mechanical buckle is leaving scratches in the leather so the leather does get wear marks just like a regular belt.

    • @spotsill
      @spotsill 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steven Jacob i know but there must be a sharp edge in the front of the buckle because it is getting small scratches on the black leather on the front. I have several of both kinds in the end it’s about matching the leathers more than the type of belt .

    I just use a braided leather belt, holes are about 3/8 of an inch apart, way closer than the typical 1 inch spacing on your 5-7 hole belts which are usually too tight or too lose, makes you wish the holes were spaced out at only 1/2 an inch instead.

    I don't like belts or belt loops. Braces or side adjusters or both are the way to go. Braces are way more comfortable, more flattering, keep the pants at the right height, visually elongate, keep your shirt flat against your body and just far better with a suit or vest/waistcoat
