Has anything like this happened to you?

I travel a lot (3-4 months at a time) and my phone and internet is on Virgin Mobile. I can have the internet "disconnected" while I'm away and pay only $10 a month instead of $55 while I'm away and no reconnect fee. Not sure if they have the same for phone. This is the one reason I stay with them.

I really wasn't sure what plan I should hold, or cancel, or other. Oh well. Now I know better for next time.

So sorry that happened to you, I wonder if the 1/2 hour holding time is a planned revenue generator. Surely you’re not the only one that has done that! At any rate that was a “Ruff” experience.

I couldn't say. It's water under the bridge now 🤷‍♂️

Life hits hard sometimes. At least I know now, and hopefully can spare others the headache.

Airalo ESim works the best world wide. Also Roger's has roam from home for $15 a day. My wife just quit FIDO because of their BS. As for banks freezing your cards Scotiabank was the worse while I use Simplii and had no problems. As get a US based credit card like Capital One with no overseas transaction fees and less likely to have problems in smaller towns.

Being under the Rogers umbrella, Fido also has/had the $15/day roaming when I initially called. It's water under the bridge now.

You can call your credit card company to let them know you're traveling and not to block it

I live in USA, and my current plan gives me unlimited talk, text, and data not only in USA, but Canada, Mexico, and 19 Latin American Countries.
My Canadian family travel internationally (Europe, and here to the USA ) they have coverage at a nominal fee.

That sounds really great! Which provider do you use?
