This reminds me, you should check out the opening for the Ruroni Kenshin remake "Hiten" as Ayase the other half of Yoasobi is one of the vocalist on it and you can final heard his singing voice
Check the chords and harmonics of this song. It’s really an amazing composition.
This came before idol so yeah it's got the same vibe, pretty underrated though since not a lot of people watched the recent gundam heck the show itself is underrated people are sleeping on gundam, all their songs and sound tracks as well as sound design are the best, also this song got a short novel attached to it that explains the lyrics and the story relating to the show it's called "cradle star" and they got Ikura herself to narrate it
Watching the music video for this song, during or after watching Gundam witch from mercury, makes both the listening to this song and watching the show hit entirely different. Especially with all the subtle hints within the lyrics and music video itself for the plot of the show.
There are vocal melodies in this song that remind me so much of Monster, so I just chalk that up to being Ayase-isms
