  • I walk from Kettering Railway station to Cranford using the Dismantled railway to get there as I wanted to revisit Cranford with my new Eric Tonks book on Ironstone Quarries of the Midlands in hand. It states that there are another two mines which I missed when I visited in 2020. A viewer tells me that a bike track has been made from the sinkholes the mines had created.
I sent my drone over the huge quarry face south of Cranford St Johns and other areas of interest but overall I thoroughly enjoyed my walk into industrial revolution history.

Great scoping there Purple, very enjoyable: amazing how the sink holes have survived since the closure of the mine in 1926.....

Really interesting, I’ve walked quite a bit of that but not so much of Cranford though. Hopefully Santa is bringing me some new walking booties so might go all the way to Twywell in the new year with the dog. Had to laugh at the donkeys though, I was cleaning the donkey stable at work yesterday when the car train went past lol.

Every time we trip back from the R'ale house I look at that old line and really want to walk it. I'll wait til spring though I think. Looks a bit soggy!

Deffo looks like a loco shed in that lorry trailer yard at the end there.

Hi there, you have to not fly your drone in fog. As the sensors get confused and think its in a cloud and goes into RTH mode or worse just hovers until the battery runs out.
Regards Peter . Nice video of my area BTW
