This is exactly what I started doing 6 years ago. I did 10 pushups everyday. Eventually, it became 3 sets, then 5 sets, 10 sets, then I added running, chinups, leglifts, squats, dips, hill sprints etc. 6 years later, today, I am in the best shape of my life. This advice is golden.
I never exercised all my life...i started working out at 35 n within 6 months i started doing Muay Thai n now i am an amateur fighter....jus heard u say where the momentum takes u ....it took me to combat sports unconsciously....grt advice brother Firaz🙏
thanks for sharing Im sure many will read you message and ge the motivation they need to get started. Take care of that body and keep it young and healthy for the rest of your life.
You have just changed my life. I would always get fit and lose it. I would always wonder why I couldnt keep my motivation. Was I weak? No I didnt make it a HABIT. I always thought...oh well I can do it another day. No TODAY is the day. Right now. No more excuses and when you mentioned...no fitness then be prepared for sickness, be prepared for no energy and old age....WOW that hit straight to my heart! No fitness means old age and all the things we fear. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou I have never heard anything more profound relating to fitness. Its a new day for me tomorrow and the expression of a new life. God Bless You
Landed on this channel by accident and went down the Tristar rabbit hole. This guy has so much passion and consistency. Common sense put in digestive, motivational terms. Bravo!
This video helped me build my habit. 50lbs down. Started walking 1 mile that eventually turned into 5 miles then that turned into light lifting and 5 miles. Now I’m at 7 miles a day and strength training 6-7 days a week.
Yes I imagine it's a Mike Tyson kind of deal. A motivated and naturally gifted person finds a trainer who can channel thier energies and optimise them, push them just right to push themselves.
I've been injured because I was training too close to the sun. Now I'm ready to build that momentum with more wisdom. You are that first domino Firas! Thx a lot.
Brilliant! I used to be competitive athlete on a national level but after a divorce and a number of other setbacks, I've continually wondered why I couldn't get back to the routines that got me there. MOMENTUM! Got it, Coach. Thanks so much!
This is the exact philosophy of training that I'm implementing rn. It took me years of suffering and giving 100% of effort on each training to than be unable to move for days and having little to no effects due to my inconsistency. Now I'm in the best shape of my life approaching my fight with confidence that I've done my work well. And this is the absolute best fitness (and life in general) advice ever. Consistency over intensity. Thank coach - you're a great inspiration!
The good ole days when GSP used to do those amazing Primetime UFC vids. Those were the golden days. The new countdown doesn't hold water to the Primetime probably because the budget was over a million for each according to google. GSP is a legend one of the best of all time.
This advice is so solid. Until last year in June, I hadn't worked out much in a number of years. I was fat. At that point, I started lifting and doing cardio. 3 days per week, up to 4, and continued to progress. I then got to the point where I was working out hard every day (two hours of lifting every day)... Obsessively. I started BJJ three months ago, so I changed my routine again. Now I only do BJJ and kettlebell training on my non BJJ days, and try to train to leave some in the tank to train the next day. If I go two days in a row without working out, no matter the reason, I feel like it's been months. I hate it. Tldr? He's awesome and correct. Follow his advice.
Best advice I've ever heard !!!! Super super sound n solid. Whenever I think a lot before I act/move its very difficult to convince myself to 'workout for good'. Always feel n perform fantastic when I just go n keep going. It's so natural. Momentum, habits~ it's KING! Thx a million ^_^
I was training hard doing muay Thai, BJJ. Then fell into old bad habits and now it's 8 months later and 15 to 20 pounds. Getting back in the grind and this video really motivated me thank you!
Thank you so much Firas for taking the time to make these videos. I cannot express how lucky I feel to live in such an age where I can sit in my living room half a world away and be taught by a true mixed martial artist master. These philosophical videos, as well as your grappling videos, are all worth gold. Again, thank you so much.
You should write a book brother . Write about athletic training as a whole with all the tricks youve learned . I'd buy it in a heartbeat. You're another reason I'm proud to be Canadian .
great advice! I train jiujitsu 3 times a week and on ny off days i do not a thing Everything that this video said hit me hard. I WILL start my momentum today.
so true,i started training jits twice a week for a couple of months and it started to not be enough, then four times a week now fifteen months later i train six days a week and have lost 100 lbs and i'm conditioned enough to go quite hard every time and still be ready to do it all again the next day. on top of working 40 hrs a week..
Looks like this is a very old video, but makes sense. I will continue to look for your videos on youtube. It seems you have me hooked. I am 40+ years old and have had lower back problems for a few years. I think the slow and low method will help me to continue my workouts.
i totally agree with what you are saying. my problem has been stability. i have been an MMA fighter trying to come up and also a martial artist just continuing studies and practice. i have been homeless at times and still training to the best of my abilities and i struggle with having money to pay for everything involved.
Great, fantastic perspective and advice! This rings very true for me. Once I found a routine that I could do daily my body began to change with greater magnitude than when I would do some high intensity workout only a few times per month. Just at least 30 minutes every day is what works for me. That's the time of one TV show. I have told myself in the time it takes someone to watch an episode of Friends, I can change my body and my health. That really motivates me.
Firas has a way of explaining very intricate and intimidating concepts in a very inviting and easy to understand way. I think everyone should watch this.
This is why I subscribed. Thank you so much for the motivation and also for the tips on your other posts. It has helped me tremendously at the Jiujitsu school and supported me to live a healthier lifestyle.
This is probably the greatest piece of advice I've ever heard. Unfortunately for me I have to push hard to where I want to quite because I am going to army boot camp in three months.
Great video. I used to have a blog and said the same thing, the best workout and diet is the one you can do consistently. But I wasn't consistent enough about posting so I ended up deleting it
Check out Kelly Starretts TH-cam videos. George St. Pierre has worked with him. He's one of the best around. He also has a website and a book called "Becoming a Supple Leopard."
This is the shit i needed. I was training for 1,5 years and then i had a break and i couldnt recover my training. I tried a few times but now i realize i was going too hard, after one workout i was sore for like 3 days so i couldnt build a habbit. Thanks for the advice.
Great advice Coach Firas! I've always wondered why I can't seem to stay consistent with my workouts. I do it for a few weeks then I stop and repeat the process again. Too much intensity. I'll start focusing on creating momentum today. Thank you. Greetings from the Philippines!
This is quality advice. I hope some day I can learn to make a habit of training and stay consistent. At the moment I only train 2-3 times a week but I feel like I could be doing more. I guess I can start building momentum as you say and work my way up.
Dear Tristar Gym I like to say nice job on these videos I think it's great. Now I was wondering or possible that you can make a video on what do you when you train a new person starting an mma career? step by step instructions. I'm asking this is because I like martial arts alot (putting you through time and energy on it am so on)...so much that I may want a career in mma because of it. however I'm just worried in how do I do it. like what do I do, do I go to Montreal and train at Tristar gym and others. I live in missisauga, Ontario and I have a lil background in boxing, kicking and taekwondo(trying to be a black belt in it), plus I'm 20 years old high school graduate and college drop out person. Hope you can help me out here Firas or others and that you very much for your help and support. Have a nice day.
+vergilandnero step 1 find a gym that trains people who fight in the cage (preferably guys who win), step 2 train alot in a year or 2 you will be good enough to have some amature fights. step 3 have lots of amature fights win, loose, or draw, step 4 if you win alot try going pro there you go no more to it
thanks firas, I love the way you break things down & what you explain about get fit or get sick , it makes sense and it would help if thats themway doctors & government health minister's would put itntoo people old & young , any good books you suggest we read that are good 4 training or working the mind , tri-star gym
Absolutely great video Firas. Big fan of yours from Germany Hopefully I'm gonna visit Montreal in future and take a few classes at Tristar. Would really appreciate it
Every time I hear someone talking about getting "back in shape", etc., I always send them this video... this is the truth.
I never ever comment on any TH-cam videos, but this is an absolutely great piece advice to make fitness way of life.
Thanks Afif really nice of you!

Tristar Gym Thank You Master Firaz🙏
This is the best fitness advice I have ever heard.
I would dare to say best life advice :)
I'm 26 years old, a university student, but I have a passion for MMA. I WILL BE A CHAMPION! This is so inspirational! Thank you Firas!
You have just changed my life. I would always get fit and lose it. I would always wonder why I couldnt keep my motivation. Was I weak? No I didnt make it a HABIT. I adopted this philosophy shortly before seeing this video. No wonder GSP was so successful with such an insightful coach. Thank you Coach Zahabi!

I've been injured because I was training too close to the sun. Now I'm ready to build that momentum with more wisdom. You are that first domino Firas! Thx a lot.
Thanks. I hate when people talk about always having to push yourself every single day as hard as you can.
Brilliant! I used to be competitive athlete on a national level but after a divorce and a number of other setbacks, I've continually wondered why I couldn't get back to the routines that got me there. MOMENTUM! Got it, Coach. Thanks so much!
top notch advice and precisely how I went from not working out at all to being fit and training almost every day.
The mind is a powerfull thing you can change your lifestyle, diet and do many things you thought was impossible. Thank you for your message!
You're a smart man Firas! I think most of us need to be reminded that it's a marathon, not a sprint and anything worth doing will take some time.
This is the exact philosophy of training that I'm implementing rn. +Bibo Thor you're right. Those explosive reactionary take downs he used to pull off a slip were the best in the biz.
firas completely embodies what it truly means to be a martial artist.. keep the videos coming my man! they are much appreciated! Oss
This advice is golden and applies to everything in life not just fitness. Creating habits is such a strong tool in your life.
This 12 min video can change lives
Great advice. You'll never get where you want to be if you don't start, all it takes is one step and then another and another...
Thank you for the wisdom. I've been in the cycle of hitting it too hard and getting injured and burned out and recovering my whole life. No more.
This advice is so solid. Until last year in June, I hadn't worked out much in a number of years. I was fat. Amazing stuff Coach Firas. Often, training the mind is just as important as training the body and people forget about that.
+Winston Hong So true!
I think some people are missing just how golden that advise was....
this is great advice for every person....everyone has time, they just need to re-prioritize their life and manage their time better

+MMA House his style is wonderful to watch and terribly effective!
I was training hard doing muay Thai, BJJ. Then fell into old bad habits and now it's 8 months later and 15 to 20 pounds. Getting back in the grind and this video really motivated me thank you!
