It was such a big cut from the 90's to the 2010's that beatbox became a whole new audience.

Another reason is because during 2018, beatbox battle was slowly transitioning back into valuing sound as well not just complicated techniques to score points, but was still not all the way there. That's why Bataco had some people vote for him

That is the fundamentals of beatbox and the OG's are respected because that is baked into alot of beatbox and loop. So many use and practice a specific type of drum kit

1 thing reactors newer to beatbox all need to know is the progression year to year in beatbox and loopstation is insane, so u can't compare rounds from battles that were in different years to others from another year really. Skill and technique level up so much each year by GBB its mind blowing. They have also had some rules changes in recent years to loop. They can now have more devices that weren't previously allowed before.
Codfish is well known for beatboxing in CSGO surfing maps long before he was in the GBB platform. Basically he was practicing on CSGO imho. Looking foward to Dons reaction too, see if he favors codfish
Judging beatboxers gets confusing. There’s a lot of categories to score such as technique variety, timing, and crowd reaction. Bataco lost to a split decision because he had 2 good rounds with variety compared to codfish’s 1 great round which swayed one of the judges. Some things that can sway votes are if you finish too early or too late. Making the round exactly 1:30 is very important If you have a great counter, it can score lots of points Cleanness also scores more points such as codfish’s throat bass and basics.
Rahzel doesn't really compete but he's still active in the American community and very highly respected. If you go to the American Championships you can probably meet him that's how I did

I think its been said that codfish could have had cleaner sounds towards the end or something but ive never understood why it wasnt a clean sweep.
