We all get attached to certain performers but from with a band it has a ton to do with personality balanced with the amazing musicianship of this band. At this point Marco has also stepped away. I am very unhappy about that because he is such a big part of the band. I think the virus worldwide has affected artists very hard, they can tour they have to be careful to even get together as a group because of the transmission rates. I found myself two days ago listening to Sleeping Sun and I was going back and forth between Tarja and Floor. In the end I can see amazing pluses for both side so I just went fuck it, no need to choose. I have an ongoing mix on youtube and I have both versions in there so I hear them both. No matter which singer is there, on a scale of 1-10 I would say both versions are a 12... or more.
I have now listened the album thrueout many times and I really wonder why they didn't include Sagan to their main album? More so, Sagan would of been (to me atleast) more "fan engaging" single than Elan with it's uplifting, energetic and vibrant melodies. Mysterious are the ways of choosing singles...:) Good album by the band anyhows. Keep up the good work Nightwish and rock hard live as usual!

I agree with Tuomas--"Elan" struck me as way too mellow to be a single. It's a nice song, but it sounds like a B-side, lacking the flashy, attention-grabbing elements of past hit singles like "Nemo" or "Amaranth."
Tbh, Élan is a great video, but the song is just fine. I was hoping for a happy return to metal but seems Nightwish isn't the masterpiece it used to be. What happened to the complexity of music writing? Come on, Tuomas can compose real genius songs and he counts with incredibly talented band members who can do much better. I still hope the album is heavier. Please don't let me down.

Tuomas still composes genius songs and those songs don't have to be hardcore metal. Elan manages to be accessible yet grand and that's what's genius behind it.
The only complaint I have about Elan is the lack of orchestra. I always considered that a staple with Nightwish. I hope the other songs have more orchestra music in it than this one.

This is not any background group for a solo artist but a band in which all the members are equal and they're forming Nightwish together. And it wouldn't exist without the songwriter skills of Tuomas Holopainen.
