Great video as usual…I own a sharpening business and I have the magnamatic with the dust collection three stage filter system, and balancer. I also have the mulching blade option. I absolutely love the setup. I sharpen 20-30 blades a week, and they get razor sharp. I use an old fashioned bastard file to knock the wire bur off the back side. It’s expensive, but it’s paid itself off multiple times over. I do completely clean the blades with a wire wheel on an angle grinder in order to get them perfectly balanced.
I'm just a one lawn homeowner and watching you I went ahead and bought Ballard blades and I like them better than the g3 or g5 Oregon blades, but that's all I ever used. Thanks for the information.
Thanks for the mention buddy. I need to do an updated video on my setup. Recently added the all new Mag8200 by MagnaMatic. Can’t wait to see your new setup at the BLM barn!
Mark Tangney quality lawn care I use a angle grinder and high lift Oregon blades I tried out the gator blades but not a big fan what is your opinion and favorite blade low lift high lift Oregon or gator blades
I always clean the blades before sharpening for the best balance, 30 degree no more the 35 degrees. I have the Magna Matic and the All American sharpener. I use the All American when blades are really dinged up, it’s quicker. 👍🏻
Great video bro and sweet setup! I have to get that bench setup! Ballard blades for the win! Can’t wait to try out the new gold blades. P.s. what’s up with the bottle opener on the post? Lol
@@BriansLawnMaintenance I use all three, All American-MagnaMatic-RGB 712, each do well depending on style of blades. I question your feedback with the amount of blades you do per season, per disc, to last that long, the outer rim of the disc wears thin, it seems to take longer to sharpen, time is money, but so is the disc! Thank you for your video of this topic, I appreciate your time you put in to help the lawn service community.
Only downfall I see of that machine is it doesn't do a grind all the way to where original grind is on factory but man it does do a great job making a nice even flush grind !! Great job
Hi Brian, I bought some of your classes through your online academy . About $500.00 worth , I was wonder if I could ask you a question about purchasing the rest of what you have to offer . Is there an email I can reach you ?
I use a bench grinder and a homemade block jig. Most of my sharpening is chainsaws and I do that by hand. 30 years has perfected that, but hey, great video. Cool start to your shop
I don't sharpen that often you just mess up the blades they don't come as thin for a reason.. for new properties that I don't know what's gonna be on the grass I just use my old beat up mower so I won't mess up my good blades from my newer mower
I would say no real set amount of times but how dinged up they get and how aggressive you need to grind them to get all the dings out when sharpening, more of a visual inspection rather than a you can sharpen them X amount of times
What's your guys technique for sharpening a blade?
The All American Blade Sharpener I have used with flap disc grinder works amazing for me.

RBG 750, and the magnet balencer love it. Makes it Soo Much easier.
@brianslawnmaintenance PLEASE do a video of a bunch of lawns you mow and show the entire lawn and how much you mow it for. Would be so helpful!
I love Honda they make great products. We have a lot of their hrc216 commercial mowers they are great and do well in the wet grass
Mower blade sharpening party! Shoutout to the rain outside!
Thanks for sharing

I clean them. Then balance them and mark the heavy side. Then I sharpen and keep checking the balance.
You should get yourself some all American mower blade grinders! It uses a regular angle grinder and it's universal with mulching blades.
We had the tool and it was great!
Clean the blade before you sharpen them gives the best balance. I use a bench grinder with a wire wheel for the best cleaning.
Nice job Brian
Just an FYI, R.B.G. 712 is 7” grinding disc, 1/2 horsepower, 934 is 9” 3/4 HP.
I gave the new gravely pro stance and my blades are about twice as thick as your and most other blades so I don’t know if that would work
I use the RBG 712.👍
Digging the open mouth thumbnail man and great video so far!!
Lol
Great advise!
Great job buddy
Magna magic for us, but I like your setup I've never seen that befit

Nice!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance to be clear I only have the Magna Matic sharpener and balancer, purchased many years ago when it was not as pricey
Brian do you guys use hard disc or tiger paw flap disc when you use angle grinder ?
Usually a flap disc! Great question
Great video bro and sweet setup! I have to get that bench setup! Ballard blades for the win! Can’t wait to try out the new gold blades. P.s. what’s up with the bottle opener on the post? Lol
How long do these disc last and when do you change the grinding Disc?
Hard to quantify but we change them about once a year or so

Roughly how many blades do you use in a season per mower and when do you know if it's time to get new ones?
10-12 sets and we sharpen once a month. 3 blades for our mowers.
Hey Brian I don't see none of the Golden blades there what do you think of the new Ballard blades
We just got ours in for the 15/16th size. Still need to put on for a test! (Tomorrow!).
Maybe I'm old school but I just file mine over the trash can and then use a blade balancer to make sure it still spins right
Only downfall I see of that machine is it doesn't do a grind all the way to where original grind is on factory but man it does do a great job making a nice even flush grind !! Great job

How many hours do you get out of a set of blades before they are junk
That’s hard to quantity. I feel like we lose them to being bent, chipped, or a bad angle before we ever get to the end of a blades life span
2022 rookie here was a bum!
I sharpened mine last year once. Yikes
As bad as it sounds, I use a flap disc and a bench vise

Usually after a good season of use they’re toast.

@@BriansLawnMaintenance gotcha, thanks.
Do you sharpen a new set of blades before you use them.
Nope! We did another video on this topic!
Grinder
What’s your code on Ballard inc
Brians10, thanks!
Do you make your blades razor sharp?
RGB712 is not a 7.5 motor.....7 inch disc 1/2 motor
