Fun fact, Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) was 23 and his friend, Cameron (Alan Ruck) was 29 during the filming of this movie, and the only teen was the girl Sloane, who was 18.

Mathew Broderick, who was 24 when this was made, also plays a high school student in 1983's War Games (good movie) when he was 21. He also played a teenager, in a fantasy medieval setting, in 85's Ladyhawke (good movie) at the age of 23. In 1990 he played an 18 year old college student in The Freshman (good movie) at the age 28. It was then that Hollywood finally stopped casting him as a teenager.

A fascinating movie which has Matthew Broderick as an adult is the 1999 comedy _Election_ . It also stars Reese Witherspoon. It is one of my favorite movies, it's about a high school election. You might like to react to it.

Weekends, holidays, those days are nothing like taking a day off during the week and enjoying it while everyone else is at school and work. Less lines, less crowds, less traffic..the air even smells better. Haha, it really is a waste to not take advantage of a nice day. I remember reading something once where a teacher said the saddest thing is when students start to emulate adults. I mean you see them with all this potential and suddenly they're just another person focused on making a paycheck not really chasing any dreams. The world needs dreamers..

Not sure why people have trouble with the car guys. The two guys worked at the parking garage and were valets, they would give you a ticket when you went there and park your car for you, then retrieve it when you returned.
Also back in the day diapers were large square clothes, usually terry towelling, (like half or third of a bath towel).
You would reuse them after dumping the waste, rinsing them and soaking them in some product like napisan for a few hours then wash them. Point is they were soft cloths ideal for cleaning windows and polishing your car with.
These guys are meant to be dumb high schoolers, which is why they though the reverse thing would work.
The car in the film is meant to be worth maybe a million(?) at the time - worth $15 million today. Of course it's actually a replica...

16:42 This is a fun exchange, and the Ladies seem like good students. I, on the other hand, started skipping school in eighth grade. But since I grew up in the middle of nowhere, I had to catch the bus, get to town, ditch whatever classes I didn't want to go to, and then still get back to catch the bus home. Not me. I skipped school every chance I could. I would check into each class for roll call and leave when the teacher was distracted and go cruise in my camaro or mcdonalds. I would sell forged lunch tickets for $1 and I had many customers. I used that for gas. My 4th period was split into 2 parts because I had 2nd lunch and since I checked in beforehand, I would take all 3 lunch periods and hang in the cafeteria. When I got my truck, I would haul the running PE class across town just a block before the checkpoint and after they checked in, they ran back to me and I'd drive them back to school. Sometimes if I never returned to 5th and 6th periods, I would stay late the next day at 4th period and would then get a note from 4th teacher for 5th period being late. 5th period thought it was note for day before when I was gone. The 80s were great.

Even more than most of Hughes' films, this film is an absolute Love Letter to the city of Chicago. Many- indeed most- of his movies are set in Chicago or its suburbs, as he spent his formative teen years in the Chicago 'burbs (where I myself was born and raised and still live and work). In some of his movies, the setting is more or less incidental to the plot; could be almost any metropolitan suburb- that's what makes his films so universally loved. And though in essence the plot of "Ferris Bueller..." *could* happen anywhere, the setting is very definitely Chi-town, showing off our museums (18:41 Art Institute), baseball*, public art, skyline, Sears Tower sky-deck 13:26 (now called "Willis Tower," but true Chicagoans know it forever as Sears. At time of filming, it was the tallest building in the world! It's since been surpassed, but is still one helluva view!!), etc.
"Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "The Blues Brothers" are THE iconic CHICAGO films of all time. (Of the 1980s, at least, but I said of all time and I stand by that!)
32:59 - This was not technically the first film to have an after-credits scene, but it is one of the most famous, and it was VERY uncommon at the time! Films today like the MCU have normalized easter-egg type "extra" content at the end, but when this film came out, most people had never seen such a thing!
*16:14** - the gang was at a Chicago Cubs baseball game at Wrigley Field. When Rooney failed to see them on the TV and asked the score, to which the cook said "nuthin' nuthin'" and Rooney was obviously not paying attention when he followed up with "Who's winning?" the cook replied "The Bears." the Bears are Chicago's *football* team. Rooney again- did not notice. Oblivious.
You guys really got deep and philosophical on this one! Pretty good for a comedy, right? Makes you think! :)

When I was in Junior high we used to gather guys for a “sleepover” , watch this movie for inspiration and then go out and toilet-paper all the girls’ houses, who were also out toilet-papering the boys’ houses. 80s youthful stupidity. Think 13 years old
I like ur laughs. ❤ “when u become an adult your brain stops working”. LoL ❤ this movie is frighteningly true re the bus/gummy bear thing. Huge generational touchstone for folks my age.

It’s funny seeing such a fuss made over missing a day of school. I missed 140 days my first 3 years of high school. Then my senior year you had to make up any day after 10 on Saturday. Or you failed the class. I didn’t miss as often but I still missed more than 10 and had to drop the classes not needed to graduate because I needed the Saturdays left to go towards the classes I needed. So the last semester of my senior year I only went a half a day. I went to English 12 and math then went home. Then went on Saturday for 2 hours. Just barely graduated. Years later I started my own business and honor roll students and college graduates was working for me. Strange how life works sometimes!

This movie was ALWAYS about Cameron. Also, there's a great ska band from the 90s that called themselves Save Ferris. Check out the song The World is New. They also cover the 80s song Come on Eileen. Fun stuff.

About All of the cartoonish, “yeah right, how would he/she not notice Ferris was right there (or not there)” type of moments/scenes in this movie….it really helps (& changes everything ) once u realize that this story is kind of brilliantly told thru the eyes of the gossipy high school kids who would’ve all spread the story of Ferris’s adventures around the school in the days & weeks following the day focused on in the movie….the exaggeration & myth making of rumor, the “I heard from her that he said his brother’s girlfriend’s cousin said Ferris sang on a parade float & the entire city danced & cheered”…..then it all starts to make more sense….the story is told thru the lens of youthful high school exaggeration & gossip & rumor….tall tales, & legend & all that….its really a unique film that will enchant people for a long time to come….anyway, as always, great reaction by the way, ❤ u guys channel, & great edit too:)

One of my favorite comedy movies of the 80's. Another 80's movie you should react to is The Final Countdown (1980) The U.S.S. Nimitz goes back to December 6th, 1941. It's filmed on the Nimitz. It's like Top Gun meets Back to the Future.
