When my grandmother made her will and told me that she was leaving me her Blue Danube 80 piece set, I was honestly disappointed. I wanted one of the sets of pearls my other siblings were getting. I was about 20 yrs old at that time. Today, closer to 40 yrs old, her set is one of my prize possessions and I feel like she left me gold. You're right. It's because of the history, the care, and the LOVE that surrounded this set. She is with set with many memories of the meals we had together. It is a blessing to have received it. I am very lucky. Oh now I love that ! Wonderful story....some things are wasted on the young ...but not if their shown right in the first place....that is a lifetime set ! I have my great grandmothers set handed down twice to who would take care of it its an extra full setting for 12....60 years old by Noritake ....called Brenda....it's in a couple videos now....the set is missing one cereal bowl and that was before me.....just very meaningful ! Love your blue spring Dutch tables cape. Reminds me of my mother-in-law ( God rest her soul) who was born in Holland. She loved this pattern as well as Delft. I have owned several sets of dishes in 44 years of marriage most have been blue and white. And of course the classic white rimmed in gold. Again a lovely table! Thanks for gently teaching our younger friends the reason behind preserving the past through objects of beauty!
Many people are going through this minimalism phase and that is why some things are easier to find now in thrift and antique shops. This is a good thing for collectors. I still love the old cleche' "one person's trash is another person's treasure."
When I read an article saying that the generation after my time didn’t want mom’s or grandma’s China, it broke my heart. I grew up in a very small two bedroom, one bath home with a very small kitchen. There was five girls and our parents. My mother bought her dishes from the grocery store. She didn’t have time or the space for China and crystal, we had to eat in shifts when we had any gathering and sadly it was on cheap white paper plates and plastic utensils. My first mother in law, of only two years, had to teach me. I am thankful for that time. I enjoy your channel. Keep creating beautiful tables. Maybe you will change the younger generations to get their China and make memories at the table.
@Stormy Weather While these gorgeous dishes may not be as popular w some younger generations, it is getting better! I collect milk glass, some depression glass & double candlestick holders. In the groups I belong to on FB, I see new collectors getting younger & younger. The biggest thing abt these items that's changed my mind is the idea of using them in different ways. Like my milk glass, I use it to hold my make-up brushes, makeup, jewelry and so on. The uses are endless! My 30yr old daughter wasn't too thrilled abt my milk glass, but she's definitely coming around. In fact, I notice pieces missing all the time! I think it's kinda funny bc it's like she doesn't want to admit she likes them😉
Its comical alright....things change with exposure....the farmhouse and shabby chic movements have reenergized the milk glass once again because of the color....things seem to ebb and flow ...its just what you love to treat your eyes to after all....Thank you friend 😎🎬🎥🐦

how lovely! I bought Johnson Bros. Castle on the Lake china (a whole big box) at a flea market in 1997 for $2.00! They are now extremely hard to find! Like you, I would never give them up, and am always thrilled when a piece shows up at the antique store! They are also blue and white. Thanks for sharing yours!!
I love to watch your tablescapes! I love to set my table for different occasions also. This one is so so beautiful. The only thing I might change is the crackers. Either I would take them off all together or I would put a few on the plate with the cheeses or take out of the wrapper and put them on a plate by their selves. But that's just nit picky because your table and flowers and everything is just beautiful!! My mother gave me a large set of Johann Haviland's blue garland china when I got married 50 years ago! I am going set my table with that for mother's day. She is long gone but I know she would like it. I have used those dishes only a handful of times. I love to set my table for different occasions but it is not necessarily antique. I just use what I find and like from thrift stores. I just love dishes! I love your channel. Im glad I found it!

You make me chuckle with your comments about the history of the plates because I often wonder who had my plates before I got them an an auction. They don't make them like they used to and it's a shame that our kids don't want them. You sure know how to set a table! Love it!!! 😀👍💕

After you did the blue and white theme fire place I got my blue and white dinner set of my mum's out and Nanna's Wedgewood pieces . My kitchen and dinning rooms painted in Wedgewood blue and white so I rearranged my glass cabinet in white from Ronnie's I got for my dinning room and put them on top shelves and put out my dinner set tea pots and my Nanna's Wedgewood bowels on the table . You must of read my mind haha . But yours looks a lot better than mine . You have a talent my Jeff well anything will do as long as food goes on to it . I have a soup bowel with no lid I put some lilliepillies in and my mum's white roses which are in full bloom for the centre piece . After watching your video . Jeff, are you expecting dignitaries? Just absolutely elegant. My grandma set a beautiful table with her China every Sunday and Holiday. Those were the days when families we're very close and there was nothing like it. We had dinner at the table every single night together. The blue and white pattern is just gorgeous.
Don't really like saying China these days. I'll be over.

I LOVE this table. I have tried to go to Holland Michigan for their "Tulip" Festival for several years, but Covid put a stop to that. Really, really cute. Love you.

Wow Jeff! OMG! I love Johnson Bros. I have the Castle collection for 12 and I love it. You make me chuckle with your comments about the history of the plates because I often wonder who had my plates before I got them an an auction. They don't make them like they used to and it's a shame that our kids don't want them. You sure know how to set a table! Love it!!! 😀👍💕

I have some collection of blue and white in Kenya they bring containers from. Abroad with used items but not as elegant as the ones I have seen in your Chanel the you find blue and white but they are always chipped thanks for the channel it's my favorite always watch it over and over am super obsessed with antiques

After you did the blue and white theme fire place I got my blue and white dinner set of my mum's out and Nanna's Wedgewood pieces . My kitchen and dinning rooms painted in Wedgewood blue and white so I rearranged my glass cabinet in white from Ronnie's I got for my dinning room and put them on top shelves and put out my dinner set tea pots and my Nanna's Wedgewood bowels on the table . You must of read my mind haha . But yours looks a lot better than mine . You have a talent my Jeff well anything will do as long as food goes on to it . I have a soup bowel with no lid I put some lilliepillies in and my mum's white roses which are in full bloom for the centre piece . After watching your video .
