how is that a surprise? they've been doing the same thing for decades, remember the latino/latinX stupidity?

It worked for Egypt against Netflix.
Put simply, Yasuke would've been executed if he desecrated Japanese shrines.
That's why the ability to do so is ridiculous for a game set in feudal Japan.
It's funny how in the previous assassin creed set in baghdad, you're not allowed to descrate mosques. But somehow, ubisoft think its okay to descrate japanese temples and shrines.
I am African American and I approve this message.-
Stop saying "Yasuke". He never existed.
@Jurgir09 If he was he was erased from the records
They should just add that into the game, that people attack you if you kill or vandalize.

This video is heartwarming 😢. I don't know what Japanese did to Ubisoft to make this game inappropriate but I feel very sad about it but ignorance should be a crime against humanity and and they should be ashamed to make this game with so much inappropriate fake information about my country Japan, sadly we are Japanese people can't do anything about it except watch foreigner destroy my culture and get insulted as schizo literally when it's about defending my culture and I don't understand why? why? You hit the nail on the head. I was stationed in Japan for 5 years, and the amount of disrespect I've seen from foreigners visiting there is insane. It's goes beyond disrespect for individuals, it is more like a general disdain for the culture as a whole. The thing that ticks off most liberals to hear is that primary offenders are basketball americans.
The problem is that they initially tried to pretend their character was historically accurate even when Japanese natives and historians tried to correct them. Once they figured they were wrong, and got a lot of other things wrong, they started going "yeah, well, we weren't trying to be historically accurate anyway". But they had already given everyone a free pass to criticize their game based on their accuracy and authenticity. This is a problem of their own making, and people aren't going to forget it that easily...
The funniest part is people trying to defend Shadows by trying to act like the series was never about historical accuracy. Meanwhile they ignore all of the things that are literally just the devs patting themselves on the back on how historically accurate they tried to be. e.g. the animus notes and standalone Discovery Tours.
It is worse than that as they (or gaming journos) where making the statement that it was "Westerners cosplaying as Japanese citizens".
The problem is why tf did YOU think any AC game would be historically accurate? Has it ever been? what part of history did we invent the time traveling machine to go fight off people looking for ancient alien-esque devices? I missed that part in history class..fuckin crazy I would have actually listened!
@@DrippUP people are just calling out Ubi's BS of claiming the game to be faithful to history. They even claimed people can learn about Japan of that era despite of getting a lot of things wrong. Had they not claim such things, the backlash wouldn't be that big
@@DrippUP Yeah ok, you want an example of Ubisoft being historically accurate?
In the first Assassins Creed game, we’re shown in the advertising of Altair carrying a crossbow on his back.
The dev team then removed it from the game, while making a public announcement of them acknowledging that such a weapon did not exist at the time of the game’s setting.
Literally look this up. Also look up the fact that Ubisoft did in fact claim with AC Shadows that they were giving everyone a historically and culturally accurate Sengoku Era Japan for the game’s setting.
Maybe do your homework before considering to debate or saying something stupid.
Japan will NEVER bow down to Ubisoft's sins of creating Assassin's Creed Shadows.

My biggest question is, why not make a Japanese as a Samurai protagonist?
Even when they claim it's not historacly accurate.
Why ubisoft so hellbent to make anyone but Japanese man as a Samurai protagonist.

DEI is just straight up racism.
The problem is that they Made the 70% of the game when the woke titles on the market sold well, but after the concord failure they were to forward with the development. They realize that there is no turning back, they can not restare the project, they must make money at soon as possible, so pratically they already know they are fucked, but they can just try to fix something in the marketing because yasuke remain yasuke… he has interactions with all the map, all the npcs. Also, Ubisoft allows the destruction of shrines and Japanese people, but not Portuguese merchants. That is the part I find baffling, and damage the argument "If you don't like it don't do it". Why allow one and not the other?

@@tintorhd8331 it aint the culture for me, i just don't feel comfortable being a black dude playing or watching a black dude chopping off the heads and hands of screaming asian women.
I watched a few Japanese people explain why they don't like the game. They say the buildings don't even look like Japanese buildings at all, they find the black character strange, and so many other issues that are too difficult to talk about because of how deep and different their culture is. They hate this game so much, but can't convey why based on too many problems with it. This Ubisoft team should have took a trip to Japan, just like what many other Ubisoft AC devs teams did when creating their AC game, to better and correctly identify the source material to make the most authentic game possible. Heck, the AC Unity development team while collecting as much information they could, as well as taking multiple pictures on their trip to France were also given full blown blueprints of some of the most historic buildings as well. Which is pretty impressive stuff. For someone in France to hand over historic blueprints means that they wanted a game produced as accurately as possible, even if they themselves probably aren't gamers, because they wanted the actual gamers purchasing the product to marvel at the wonders of their beautiful buildings. Nailing the presentation of a culture in Assassins Creed games are very important to the people who live there, because if it is pulled off just right, it is possible to get some of those gamers to visit their country. Tourism is important to all countries, and when it is not done right, or half-assed as we see in Shadows, it doesn't convey enough appreciation of their culture to garner any tourists. The Japanese look at Shadows and are thinking... This is not us, this is not how we typically, behave or would have behaved, these buildings are not even close to accurate Japanese buildings of that time period, so now tourist's may be less likely, or turned off completely from visiting their gorgeous country. Do you now kinda see how people in Japan feel right now? The AC Shadows development team did not do their homework, and the Japanese people are looking at this with anger because it's embarrassing. The Japanese want respect via accurately depicting their way of life, culture, and their land, so that millions who play the game may one day decide that this is a place of interest. A potential vacation spot for some gamers who never thought about visiting Japan, who are now interested in visiting their home. Catching my drift? I can't think like a Japanese person does, just like a Japanese person can't think like myself who is American. What I do know is that the Japanese people are appalled right now over the inaccuracy's AC Shadows presents, and I'm going to take their side on this topic. If Japan doesn't like it, that is enough for an American like myself, or anyone around the world who live in a different country, that this is a game that should not be played. Why would anyone play a game that is 95% inaccurate? See what I mean? Why on earth would I be interested in playing a game that is 95% wrong in the eyes of the Japanese? I sure as well wouldn't. That's why I'm staying as far away from this game as humanly possible. I don't want to play a completely fabricated take on Japan, learn about things that are just made up, later visit Japan, then one day talk about the history I learned from the video game with Japanese people there, and will look like a total idiot. They will instantly think to themselves, this tourist played AC Shadows and laugh. I'm not being fooled by Ubisoft this time around. I'm uninterested in this product.
There are many incidents now in Japan for foreign travelers using temples to showcase their dance moves, using a torii gate as pullup bars, and even pee on monuments and knock down tombs just for social credits. Things like that would be inevitable after the release of the game. Some uneducated people tend to think the entire Japan is a theme park and the destroyable and climbable environment feature of this game won't help.
Japan must😂 implement much more strict VISA for all em cringy gaijins.
The other thing is this: why are there no guards attacking you for attacking a sacred temple?
Good question
Because Ubisoft never cared about the cultural sensitivity since the historian they hire only educated on gender indentities
This shrine is an old one, founded in 564, and is still loved by the locals today. Even in feudal times, no one used to riot here because it was a very peaceful place. That's why they didn't need guards...

The Japanese historian Hirayama Yuu stated that "Yasuke was a samurai," but the basis for this claim comes from the manuscript of the Shinchōkōki known as the "Sonkeikaku-bon" (尊教閣本). This particular manuscript is the only one out of 72 known copies that includes such a description, making it the least reliable version of the Shinchōkōki.
Kaneko Hiraku, who studied the Sonkeikaku-bon, has pointed out its questionable credibility and explicitly stated that "one should not use this book as a basis to make definitive claims about Yasuke's status."
Hirayama Yuu has also faced criticism from Japanese netizens, who argue that "Thomas Lockley fabricated the fictional 'legendary Black samurai Yasuke,' and Hirayama is one of its defenders." In response, Hirayama angrily declared, "I have never glorified Yasuke as some legendary samurai. I will sue for defamation."
Additionally, Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs once made a statement to Mozambique, saying, "Yasuke, who came from your country, became a samurai in ours." However, this remark was clearly influenced by Thomas Lockley’s narrative. After opposition lawmakers questioned the ministry following the controversy surrounding Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, the government retracted this statement, later clarifying that "Japan does not take a specific position on Yasuke’s status."
The "Legendary Black Samurai Yasuke" believers heavily rely on Hirayama Yuu's opinion, but his views are not absolute within Japan’s historical academia. Particularly in the discussion about Yasuke, his perspective is merely that of one researcher, and he has not published any official academic papers on the subject. Many Japanese people have pointed out flaws in his claims.
The Yasuke myth supporters, driven by authoritarian bias, simply cherry-pick the opinions of people with prestigious titles without actually referencing Japanese-language historical sources themselves. It is extremely frustrating to see such harmful misinformation being spread.

I know it’s been a few months, but the reason people harped on historical accuracy is because UBISOFT bragged about it before being scrubbed from the internet. They first said he was a real samurai and people were mad because this is the first “real” historical figure we play as yet it’s a black man in Japan. No one went into dispute anything over his legitimacy at first, they were just mad how they went about doing it. Even the Japanese didn’t care all too much at first.
After people called that out though they doubled down saying he was real and that they could do a fish out of water story with him as opposed to literally anyone else like a Japanese man finding his way back to Japan. In a later interview they said they took longer to develop this game than most other ACs because they wanted to be as HISTORICALLY ACCURATE as possible. Articles were even made as auxiliaries talking about how accurate the settings usually are in AC. This is what opened the can of worms and was brought to the attention of the Japanese who really like AC. They literally made a statement about housing and architecture just for them to be using Chinese architecture and then it was all down hill from there. The nitpicking started literally because Ubisoft kept doubling down on this being realistic and matching the history of it all.
I’m pretty sure you made that video which led to the backlash and them pivoting saying it was always reimaginings removing all of the posts about accuracy. Don’t let yourself be gaslit, even if a thousand people say the sky is green it’s still blue. Ubisoft started this argument over their games being historically accurate, don’t let this be some petty victory. Also going into older articles you can really see Yasuke was in fact the main character with the other playable character that is in fact made crazy how they can do, seems more like a side character. Like when games like Sly cooper had levels for his team.
Yea. Many moving wheels went wrong, but least for one part-If they didnt go push Yasuke as some King-Arthur-level samurai, there would have been less trouble. There’s very little accounts of him, and like any ole AC game, it would have been good historical flexibility for the fun
Even at the other extreme, just looking at some neutral accounts, Yasuke wasnt some pauper, as he was taken into Nobunaga’s entourage and maybe promised gifts. He was probably one the level of a western medieval man-at-arms or a hireling knight errant of a noble house. Half-samurai, i’ve heard it be called. It’s just today’s pop connotation is much more … majestic?
But like you said, the makers dropped all flexibility at first and wrote their PR in stone
@@simondeep Yasuke should have been a NPC companion like the ally Yaya, the big female sumo. Since he is a historical figure, he should be judged as such. And he certainly wasn't like Gamo Ujisato, Maeda Toshiie or Honda Tadakatsu.
There does seem to have been big effort to make Shadows historically accurate. It's one of their best attempts I know of. Better than most big budget attempts I've seen of pre modern historical settings.
Ubisoft bragged the same for all their other AC games, but fell shorter than they have here. There just isn't as much reverence for those other settings.
Yasuke isn't appealing to me at all. So that's my problem with it. If we had to do that. I'd have preferred to play as a foreigner from Europe that doesn't integrate into the culture. That would have been very appealing to me (mostly because European stay is way more appealing than japanese stuff to me)
Much as people hate this game, and now KCD2. I wish there was a mod or something that would physically merge the two games, and, many other similar games. It'd be so awesome to be able to clash all these settings.
1:35 - In the very first Assassin's Creed game Altair was not allowed to kill innocent people - you'd get a warning, that Altair didn't kill innocent people, and you'll be de-synced and booted out of the animus if you keep doing it. Why not implement the same mechanic in Shadows?
Why is this the first game where you can freely murder civilians without getting desyncronized.
why do i feel like that choice is very deliberate in some way...
tl;dr You aren't an assassin so you have no creed to desynch from....
I asked my sister who actually plays, and refuses to cancel her shadows pre-order, every AC game. And she said the games since like odyssey removed the desynch feature when killing Innocents because you're not assassins anymore. Valhalla, I played a little and I think I attacked a crowd and they ran away, wasn't an assassin. And that's the only game I've played a tiny bit of in recent AC releases lol...

We literally have an example in Sekiro where Wolf puts away his sword in temples..... You also can't destroy anything there so there is a example of a dev not letting you dedicate a sacred place.
Did you mean ‘desecrate’
As a Westerner who has no biological connection to Japan, I am still... befuddled by why this is so hard for other Westerners to understand. Cultures are different from one another, and its a beautiful thing to understand, respect, and celebrate said cultures in their own way so long as said cultures do not run entirely antithetical to your own... "if you know, you know."
Japan is not one of those cultures, however, as its cultural leanings bend to a couple of key tenants. Honor, respect for your ancestors living and dead, upholding your word, and respect for those in higher positions to yourself for whome their word is law. Once you place yourself, mentally, in this position, it's very easy to navigate the dos and don'ts, and it mystifies to me why people do not see the extreme disrespect this game represents.
Japan is not a theme park to destroy for money. Its a beautiful culture that still takes itself seriously, and you should too.
I've found the younger generation largely has completely lost the ability to put themselves in someone else's shoes. They largely can't even entertain the merits of an idea different from their own without adopting it, the concept seems alien to them. We've completely f-ed people's ability to think in order to make them more receptive to certain "messages", its truly a tragedy and part of the decline of our society.

Random idea here: Imho it would be interesting if the game “mechanically” allowed the player character to desecrate holy sites, but doing so to have grave ramifications for the player character, even a “game over”. It would be a very hands-on way to “teach” non-Japanese players how important cultural/religious objects/structures are to the Japanese. It would also create an interesting dynamic of gameplay “Should I fight/blow stuff up around this place?” Encouriging the player to actually be aware of their surroundings, making the game world a character of sorts in itself, not just a “uuuuh pretty set dressing” for the 1st 10 hours, before being “taken for granted”.

What's hilarious is the Streisand effect that was created with Ubisoft insisting on pushing this woke narrative with Yasuke. If they had just had a real Japanese ninja of any kind--male, female, whatever--the initial pushback would not have been as hard, and the gripes about misrepresenting Japanese history could have been corrected with relative decorum. But the scrutiny ramped up to "11" the second people realized that Ubisoft was pushing this mythical "african samurai" narrative onto a region of the planet that has been waiting for an Assassin's Creed game for decades.
This, in turn, led immediately to investigating "what else has Ubisoft messed up?" The sheer hubris required to force false narratives and invented histories onto a people and/or culture is staggering. We saw this with the "black Cleopatra" Netflix farce, as well as the "african" Jarls in Vikings. But that's a western world overreach--an overreach that people are starting to realize needs to stop--and in the far east, this is tantamount to genuine effrontery.
Ubisoft keeps on showing their "true colors" with this ongoing Shadows drama. What a despicable company, full of DEI-appointed activists and dumb-f*ck "narrative designers" who have no business working in game development. I'm sorry, but you can't just invent history, push nonsensical woke mythology, and then tell the country you're pissing off to just "accept it"--not if you don't want to go bankrupt. Here's hoping that people vote with their wallets and Ubisoft learns a valuable lesson in humility.
2:00 It could be that Black Hokage was speaking generally--meaning that, in AC2, the pope is killed--why no outrage over the death of the pope? He may have simply had a poor choice of words by adding "You". That said, I would argue that the "church" has done more on its own to besmirch its reputation that anyone in gaming, to the point that many people in the Western World have a great deal of cognitive dissonance: Catholicism is their religion, yet they know all about the questionable behavior/cover ups that have gone on with regard to young boys. In other words, the "pope" is hardly the pristine figure many believers want him to be, and the whole enterprise, as such, is open for criticism, satire, and polemic, even in games.
The other part is the historical context, so popes have been assassinated before throughout history (minimum 7), it was as much a Theocratic position as it was a Political position, that's how they held their power stranglehold over Europe for so long and still to this day exist as a standalone entity within Italy. The response in game should be similar, the church bells, the excommunications, etc. Same with Valhalla, Vikingr raided churches, it's a historical fact, nobody got their nose out of joint because in history it was believable to happen.
Now Yasuke was already on tenuous waters, with the whole Afro Samurai protagonist, but the casual disrespect of things that are sacrosanct within the culture that Yasuke is supposed to be entrenched in enough to *BE* a samurai is where the dissonance occurs. A tasteful way to handle this would be to mark areas as protected within the game with the whole "Yasuke didn't destroy shrines" much like the "Yasuke didn't kill civilians" disconnect message, and lift that protection when the mission calls for it.
The funny thing is, if Yasuke was akin to Da Vinchi in his use within the game (an NPC that the player used to talk to Oda Nobunaga or provided a non-native perspective on Japanese politics of the time) he would have been an amazing character, but the outsized role for what is effectively a historical bit player would be like claiming a Rus cobbler who made a shoe for Ghengis Khan is what helped the Golden Horde take Hungary by picking up a short bow and riding beside him.
Lets take this back a second and just think for a moment.
The "Pope" in question in Assassin's Creed 2 was no mere pope, no simple figure whose name was small in the history books. The Pope of Assassin's Creed 2 was *Pope Alexander the 6th, Rodrigo fucking Borgia.*
Being mad that people allowed you to kill Rodrigo in effigy? You might as well ask every German in the 21st century why they don't weep when Hitler is killed in effigy.
Hokage's comments are slathered in superb, far reaching ignorance.
What I don’t get is that Ubisoft literally had a golden goose. All they had to do was make a Japanese MC and most of us probably would’ve bought the game.

The principal of what assassins creed originally was doing was a fictional protagonist(s) fighting against a fictional antagonist(s) centered around real events and people from history and was written in a way that it didn’t interfere with what actually happened and everything you did was in the shadows and not recorded in history that’s what made it work. That’s what made it fun. AC3 is the best example, you got to be in the war of independence but not directly making decisions . Making a real life person as a playable character and then not portraying them in the way they would have been from that time period is the opposite of what AC used to be about and goes against why I play the games and I’m assuming lots of other people. Adding magic in HEX is just high jacking a franchise. It’s the opposite of AC

Assassins creeds obviously not entirely historically accurate, it’s more like historical fiction which means you can’t just make stuff up and say “it’s historical fiction”. However, I think ubi’s biggest issue with this is that they’ve touted their historical accuracy so hard and virtue signaled it to the point that no they’re just liars and manipulators.
I think to add to your point, there is something else culturally that is relevant to this topic
In regards to the pope being evil and the raids of monasteries in Valhalla, culturally speaking…
There’s real no political capital lost in making fun of Christianity. As far as the whole crowd is concerned, it is a “white man’s religion”, and therefore is open to insult and desecration.
This is not to justify or ignore any historical relevance, but nothing really is going to happen to a video game, movie, or TV show for insulting Christianity. It’s just something that’s commonly done and accepted.
This goes back to the first assassin’s Creed, when the head of the assassins order says that Jesus used the Apple of Eden to do miracles. No one was scared that Christians were suddenly going to make noise about anything.
The Japanese are very, very proud of their culture and their heritage. In today’s politically correct world, being proud of your race or ethnicity or your cultural heritage and religion is considered “bad” to modern woke activists.
So they are shocked that the Japanese or anyone for that matter, is reacting so negatively to this game. In their heads, nothing has been done wrong.
However, as seen in assassin Creed one, assassin Creed revelations, and assassin Creed Mirage, they are very, very careful not to do anything in insulting the religion of Islam.
Again out of political correctness, and not because they respect, religions, or people’s faith
I feel Sweet Baby Inc. being exposed working with companies like Ubisoft caused all this. I couldn't be happier. Gamers have spoken. We don't want DEI in our games.

The most Basic common sense is a “Breath of fresh air” nowadays. So sad.
Make all things destructable in all games. Problem solved. Add, don't take away.
"You have to choose to press those buttons"
Counterpoint: The developers had to choose to create that option.
They consciously included the option to destroy the temple. If it's something you can do in the game, they want you to be able to do it. It's that simple.
This. Unless they literally bought the assets from an asset store, 3D models don't exist with destructibility pre-enabled. One has to code that in... And it's not even simple code. The hidden faces of the broken pieces have to be modelled, the impact registry of an attack, there is a surprising amount of coding you have to do just to have this in a game. It was done intentionally, with too much effort put in to be a "well you don't have to do it". Devs with limited time and resources don't waste it on something so trivial to a story, unless it's intended to be done/seen a lot

Japan is not kneeling to Ubisoft's twisted deceptions.
At this point Japan needs to stop being too kind and polite with those people. Sue the Assassin Creed: Shadows for what they are doing to Japan history, not only that but for how they just keep insulting Japan in general. And I had people comparing this game for likes of GTA or Saints Row, which is just sad. A great example of Japanese would be games like Way of the Samurai, or even Nioh, even Ghost of Tsushima, and I can say for sure the Rise of Ronin will take more care in representing Western people then Western people themselves.
Wasn’t yasuke in both niohs and in nioh 1 you played as a white man not a Japanese protagonist?
Unfortunately the country itself is yet to do anything, but the general sentiment amongst japanese internet users, especially the gamers amongst them are understandably extremely negative towards Ubisoft, so who knows, maybe eventually it reaches a level of outrage that politicans in japan will start to take notice.
They'll do what they've always done: compartmentalize it, and turn it into something Japanese.
re: external cultural influence: this isn't their first rodeo
It is amusing that Ubisoft is disrespecting an Asian country when the rumours going around are that they want another Asian country to buy them out but allow Yves to keep his claws on AC xD

It’s Ironic that the people defending Asscreed Shadows are the same people who attack games like Stellar Blade for attractive women having unrealistic body’s
They only attack them because they've never stepped foot in a gym or ran in their lives
I guess East and SEA models are a myth for them
I heard that a troublesome TH-camr who believed that he could cause trouble to people in any country was cooked in South Korea now. I think it's just that UBI, which mistakenly believed that it had the right to insult religions around the world, is cooked now. I think they were just dancing in a minefield and misread the real risks.
When I saw the AC Shadows cinematic trailer I was like, "Oh finally, we are in Japan now", but when I saw Yasuke, I immediately knew just how wrong Ubisoft had done.
I find it funny how the guy who downplaying the disrespect of Shadows is using the term/title of "Hokage" in his name. While using a title famously used in Naruto and placing his race/skin color with it, and putting himself higher than others, even the country that made the anime he is bitting off of.
Should change his name, remove hokage at least

The Valhalla comment really irks me because, yes, as a Christian, I *did* find doing stuff like raiding churches to loot them uncomfortable. But that's also what actually happened in that time period and what Eivor, as a viking, would have done. But I know full well that complaining about something like that is not going to get anywheres, especially since we're talking about Christian stuff here and these people seem to relish insulting Christianity and then hiding behind arguments of 'free speech' or 'historical accuracy'. So why bother with a fight I know is going to get nowhere and just cause a lot of people to get upset and accomplish nothing? Yet when people criticize them for not being historically accurate, they try to shut down any criticism and accuse them of all the worst things. They only care to defile, twist, and destroy. I would say this is a sign of evil and corruption.
I agree with you, But in AC Mirage didnt do anything to piss of muslims or islamists. I wonder why they made sure to bend over backwards for them
Their argument is basically that wrecking shrines is not a big deal, because you were allowed to do sacrilegious acts in previous games.

When I first played AC1, my heart was shaken that the game had finally come this far. The wonderful landscapes, the exotic cityscapes, the excitement I was looking for was there.
But that is not the case with the Shadows today.
Altair and Ezio were living their lives as if to say, "I am alive. Every time I relived their lives, AC taught me that games are not just a simulation, but a question to my inner self.
It is incredibly sad that the AC series has been contaminated by DEI. It is also very disgraceful that Japan was chosen for that stage. There will be no return of that excitement.

This is beyond tone deaf. It is being deliberately obtuse and hurtful.
I don't see anything deliberately hurtful. And, I would be dismissive to people precious about culture at others inconvenience or expense. Like Muslims murdering for disrespect as mentioned in the video, do you condone that? I don't. World is a better place for the people living in it without that crap.
There's an important fact you missed Endymion.
IF Yasuke were actually trained as a Bushi, he would have been taught shinto beliefs. Bushi and shintoism were intertwined. Bushi looked to the kami for spiritual guidance in life and battle.
What this means is that he would have NEVER even thought about destroying a temple.
Which to compare this with "killing the pope" or to Viking raids on churches is laughable, it's an apples to oranges comparison.
Bushi were taught to respect the temples, were the assassins taught to respect the catholic church? were vikings taught to respect christian churches?
They could have simply made the temples "immortal objects" code wise so that it couldn't be destroyed.
Such is the separation of real life and video games. For example, in AC Origins, you can loot temples. Ancient Egyptians of upstanding character wouldn't have even thought of stealing from the dead.

The fuck does George Floyd have to do with this??
Ubisoft had a system in previous Assassin's Creed games that prevented players from killing innocent people or else they'd get "desynchronized" (aka game over).
The warning would say something like "Ezio did not kill innocent people" (AC Revelations).
Why not adapt and implement this system in Shadows?
They can extend it to prevent destroying the environment within holy grounds, and making temples a prohibited zone where you'd be chased out by guards if detected.
It's very easy to fix these issues, I'm baffled by how Ubisoft keeps resisting and pushing back for no good reason.
Make Yasuke a supporting character; remove his samurai status and rework him into the story as a supporting npc.
Hire me Ubisoft.
They're intentionally misunderstanding the issue. It isn't that the player shouldn't be able to do those things ingame, the issue is what happens when he makes the choice.
@@raics101 Exactly, so when the player chooses to murder innocent civilians, they'd get a warning then get desynchronized. If they choose to trespass on holy grounds, they'd get chased by guards.
The action is still there, but now there are consequences. This makes the game a lot more conscious of and respectful towards the culture.
I'm pretty sure this system existed since AC1 but off the top of my head I vividly remember it in Revelations and that game came out 14 years ago.
Why are we moving backwards?
@ We really are, it's the same as being able to wave a gun around in Starfield as much as you want but the guards would notice it in Skyrim.
It's happening probably because they're making games only to the point where less critical audience would buy it. Kinda like classes nowadays being tailored to the dumbest kid in class instead of to the level of reasonable expectancy.

But understand that altering a culture and narrative on media is not a right thing to do, especially when the country values their traditions so much.

- There are lenghty gameplay of AC Shadows showcasing loads of glitches and non-innovative gameplays such as cutting down bamboos, note that even some gacha games are able to have such tech, and it is not a core part of how to make a fun game.
