it doesn't really matter that much. AC Odyssey allowed civilian killing so it happened before. Although you can make the case for shadows because the creed actually exists in this game and odyssey was before it was established.
I think the newer games slightly relaxed that rule. I don't remember Origins or Valhalla (lol) but Odyssey for sure let u but there was a wanted system.
Either they programmed all the assets "attackable" and then programmed the Portuguese assets specifically to be untouchable, or they started off with everything untouchable, and then picked out the Japanese assets to be attackable 🤔🤔🤔

Assassin's creed japan should have been an instant classic. It's the best setting for stealth killing, and sword fights. You can look at ghost, tenchu and 100 other titles for inspiration if needed. Such an easy slam dunk. Just don't offend japan, pretty easy as they make it clear what will be offensive, make it a classic. Make it beautiful, as easy task given the setting. Then ubisoft make this monster. What were they thinking? Didn't they look into anything? They already knew they offended japan, then they released a female sumo? Why? The current infuriating mechanic in the game is that since Ubi wanted to "innovate" their engine to add destructive enviroments, what that translated to in practice is that in every West based AC game you couldn't destroy churches, but in Shadows Yasuke can go apemode and destroy everything in the Shrines. Which is just another super good look for them.
I played it on PS5, the gameplay Is awesome, but the story Is something else. Peter in his 20's knows less then Miles who just became Spiderman. Not to mention what they did to Marry Jane, my God dude.
The reason it kinda flopped is probably because of all the technical issues. Despite the hype, a lot of players reported crashes, performance drops, and bugs. A lot of potential buyers probably held off myself included until those issues get patched up

I think the fundamental spirit of the idea of Assassins Creed is undermined by how they included and designed Yasuke. Part of the fun of Assassins Creed is the weaving of these cults (the Brotherhood and the Templars) into actual history. The franchise plays with that fun element of conspiracy theories- what if this all happened because of shadowy group "X". But a black guy rampaging through Japan? That fails any suspension of disbelief test. We can't now play with the conspiratorial concept of how Cesare Borgia died at the hand of an assassin as in Brotherhood, instead we are left with the soulless content slop of Ubisoft.

Assassin's creed japan should have been an instant classic. It's the best setting for stealth killing, and sword fights. You can look at ghost, tenchu and 100 other titles for inspiration if needed. Such an easy slam dunk. Just don't offend japan, pretty easy as they make it clear what will be offensive, make it a classic. Make it beautiful, as easy task given the setting. Then ubisoft make this monster. What were they thinking? Didn't they look into anything? They already knew they offended japan, then they released a female sumo? Why? The current infuriating mechanic in the game is that since Ubi wanted to "innovate" their engine to add destructive enviroments, what that translated to in practice is that in every West based AC game you couldn't destroy churches, but in Shadows Yasuke can go apemode and destroy everything in the Shrines. Which is just another super good look for them.

I played it on PS5, the gameplay Is awesome, but the story Is something else. Peter in his 20's knows less then Miles who just became Spiderman. Not to mention what they did to Marry Jane, my God dude.

The reason it kinda flopped is probably because of all the technical issues. Despite the hype, a lot of players reported crashes, performance drops, and bugs. A lot of potential buyers probably held off myself included until those issues get patched up
@@ugl933 I don't believe that a reason at all, a vast majority of games nowdays are litteraly unplayable without the patches.
In Valhalla we was a Norseman going into England and killing their people and burning down their churches for Materials to build and steal their land and we ain't gonna talk about that? When people can't tell the difference between your movement/ideology and the mentally ill who need medical help, it's time to step back and reevaluate yourself and what you're putting out into the world.
These are people who make it loud and clear multiple times that they actually hate you, me and all gamers. I repeat: the people making your games hate you and your games. They will push and force their own personal garbage into the games, even if it results in the games/your jobs/companies death. The message is all that matters.

Doesn't anyone like to talk about how “Legendary Samurai” Yasuke has superhuman strength? That's another case of absolute ridiculousness.
I think the fundamental spirit of the idea of Assassins Creed is undermined by how they included and designed Yasuke. Part of the fun of Assassins Creed is the weaving of these cults (the Brotherhood and the Templars) into actual history. The franchise plays with that fun element of conspiracy theories- what if this all happened because of shadowy group "X". But a black guy rampaging through Japan? That fails any suspension of disbelief test. We can't now play with the conspiratorial concept of how Cesare Borgia died at the hand of an assassin as in Brotherhood, instead we are left with the soulless content slop of Ubisoft.
Yasuke's armor is more elegant and grand than Nobunaga's making the latter look like the retainer.
This game will be a breakout among the non-buynary crowd.
Ubisoft seeks to re-write certain cultures. Japan's being one of em. Muslim culture, though? Oh, they somehow get it right in that case.
