Rover 216i | Quick Project?

I was offered this 216 Cab quite cheap and with a fresh MOT.
Should I use it as a winter car? Fix it up and try to sell it for a profit?
I dont know yet! But here it is!

May be worth changing the water pump and belt as part of it's 1st service - if it's been run on water instead of coolant the fins in the pump may be corroded. Obviously cant confirm till it's apart but once you are there you may as well change it.

amazing with older cars- 300K miles is no issue with an engine. Modern cars- Wet cam belts, plastic timing chain tensioner assemblies- 70K without disaster is an achievement.

A Rover K-series overheating, nobody's surprised, but a Honda D-series engine overheating, definitely something that needs to be looked at, there's no such thing as a faulty Honda engine... :P

Honda and Rover cross collaborated right up to the end of Rover group, indeed the last MG's were under the skins pure Type R Honda's and because of a paucity of Honda parts some folks have bought MG parts to fit to their Honda's. In China the company lives on, when Nanking bought the defunct company, they resurrected the tooling for the Austin Maestro which is the body frame for many Chinese cars as the Maestro even today its body shell was so advanced its still cutting edge by comparison. Honda Ballade's all had Built by Austin-Rover tin plaques on the bonnet slam panel, basically more powerful Rover 213's and the Rover 8 series v6's all had Honda Legend engines which were cross designed by Rover and Honda, the Legend itself an exterior different but underneath a Rover 825 and 27. One thing that irks us British in the know, when BMW were facing bankruptcy, Herbert Austin sent on credit to BMW a ton of CKD Austins which BMW tarted up and became one of the worlds most powerful car and bike companies... BMW did not return that favour simply asset stripping Rover after running it into the ground pretty much :(

I think the hub is bent. Probably it was very tight on the axle and got bent when attempting to dismantle for the previous repair.

You can warp a new disk, by breaking hard and driving through a big puddel of water.

I don't think anyone has ever said "how lucky am I?" when owning a Rover. 😀
But that engine is a positive.
