  • The embattled Wallabies went down swinging once again at the hands of the big bad Boks in weather more fitting for a day at ‘Wet n Wild World’ rather than a footy match. The KOKO Crew are back once again like a pack of hungry news reporters with absolutely no journalistic integrity to give you all their spicy takes and tasty touch points from Saturday's game. Although, we can't promise 100% accurate information, we can deliver unwavering charisma and unapologetic Aussie bias. So if you are stuck in a Wallaby induced mine shaft of depression, climb back out and soak up some Aussie spirit, swim with a whale shark and chug some of Margaret River’s finest. Just remember it is always darkest before the Wallabies ‘Schmidt it in’ again. It’s time for another dose of the ‘KOKO Match Review’.

I'm afraid union in Australia is slowly dying, the AFL, and rugby league have taken over the sporting landscape in tv ratings= huge broadcast rights, big crowds, and massive sponsorship deals, unlike union which has largely disappeared from the Australian sporting public consciousness, and most Australians couldn't name or recognise any wallabies players currently playing...

Have enjoyed watching this podcast since just before the World Cup when it was TGTGTR! Love the bants - always entertaining. I apologise however as I am a Saffa living in Perthfontein but promise I support Aussies alongside SA in almost everything except rugby. There can be only 1 there. And I was 100% behind Dricus today who did the job! Hope you got some brekkie! Thanks for a quality show.

Was just listening to the Keo podcast from a week ago about their picks for the best Rugby Championship historically … and the Aussie names they rattled off were incredible, from Latham and Walker, Joe Roff, Larkham, Gregan, Finnegan, Smith, Pocock, even Stephen Moore … the sad reality is that Aus rugby simply doesn’t have players that would make a B-Team back in the day, and is going to have a hard time over the next few years rekindling both the talent pool and the respect back into the game here, the Wallabies simply don’t strike any fear into any team these days, most of the top 12 would fancy a crack at them.

  • @Alex-mj5dv
    @Alex-mj5dv 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

England fan - lots of videos of the 2013 Lions tests popping up now in light of 2025, and the whole period 2010-2015. The Wallabies had Genia, Pocock (off and on), Gits and Drew (when back from Toulon), Swoop, O’Connor, Hodge.. the list goes on. It’s chalk and cheese to now. There may be more ‘athletes’ now, but I don’t see the communication, rugby IQ, patterns and incisive plays and solid D that typified that backline. Kicking was always stellar too. The amount of metres made on the edges by the Boks was damning.
The current crop are young, yes, but they just.. I don’t know, look like schoolboys.. particularly compared to even when these guys made their debuts.
Two quick things to really sort out - set piece (which has been okay at times) and physical mindset in D and while into contact (that can generally be stoked quickly). Every carry has to be ferocious against, the Boks particularly. And somebody, somewhere, needs to step and lead that backline.

    • @ozrugbynut1729

On the money, sadly. We looked like we were giving 70% compared with the Bok 110%. You are right in particular about these younger crop. Green as but hopefully we are just testing some 2nd and 3rd stringers.

Look, we need the Wallabies to be strong. The coach is on the right track, give him the space to do his thing. Please keep your toxic media off the team. That said, I think the score line is flattering, the Bokke left lots of points on the field. Also, some seriously lucky calls from the ref. No Arms Koribeti is a case in point, the head contact on Moerat another. Good show, thank you.

Watching the two games over and over, one thing is evident. The boks are tougher, smarter and much better, most importantly, their passion for the jersey, mateship and self belief is unrivalled. The rain saved Australia at least 20 points. Loath it or love it, the bomb squad is unbelievable, their is no team that has such brute strength forwards in such numbers.

I would love to see Australia back as a force, but I do have a question. So nobody in the world expected Schmidt to pull a hair out of a hat against the Boks. But what would the KPI for him be? How would one look back at the year and decide whether this was a decent first year or not?

A few more progidy players in Jorenzo Julies and Cameron Hanekom to be filtered in over the next few years.

Rugby Union is done in Australia. 165 Aussies plying their trade in Europe, Japan and US. No money and no casual Aussie audience. 510 full time contracts in the NRL and 700+ in the AFL where the money dwarves the 144 Aussie Super Rugby contracts. The talent is there for 5 strong teams. Maybe even 7 but the money and fan support is non existent. The beautiful game I love going down the drain here in Australia..

As a Bok supporter I must say that I was impressed with the Wallabies performance - for the first 65 mins they were in it and it already shows a big improvement in 1 week. Let us not forget that Aussie Rugby is recovering from a state of flux and the real questions that need to be asked - is how on earth did it get there in the first place. The only word for the so-called leaders is RA is incompetant - now the Aussie rugby public, Rugby Australia and Corporate Australia need to get behind them to make sure they get back to their winning form. And can we please stop harping on about the Kiwi coaches. If RA must hire an Eskimo to return them to their winning ways - then hire an eskimo - in other words Do whatever it takes!!!

The wallabies are becoming the whipping boys of world rugby, and seeing so many expat south Africans at the match last night, proves the Australian sporting public are becoming disillusioned and apathetic with the quality of play the wallabies are dishing up!!
Most Australians wouldn't know the wallabies players or there names, showing union in Australia is becoming irrelevant in the Australian sporting landscape, and l notice most tv channels didn't even comment on the match last night, and that tells me the sport is dying a slow death in Australia!!

    My opinion
    All Blacks- Skills
    Springboks- Power
    Wallabies- Intelligence
Wallabies need to play with basics and need a fetcher

Playing the All Blacks will be a different kettle of fish, and the boks mustn't think it will be a walkover. there is the All Black DNA in there some where and it can surprise you anytime.
