If you live in a state that doesn’t allow anonymity, set up an LLC in Delaware. They do not release the names of anyone in an LLC. That’s how you get around it. Claim it with the Delaware LLC. Recent winners have used this to get around that loophole.
Delaware LLCs are taxed an annual flat rate of $300. There’s fees for setting up the LLC, but it’s Pennie’s compared to keeping your privacy and preventing psychos showing up at your door.

We have won the million dollar lottery twice, three years apart about 10 years ago. What they didn’t tell us at the Lottery and I didn’t realize was about the taxes. They withheld 30% of the winnings for taxes. THAT IS NOT GOING TO BE ENOUGH!! This amount of money puts you in a higher tax bracket. You will be charged at a higher rate! A tax attorney may be able to figure out a way around it but I didn’t. The next year won’t be so bad because you paid so much in taxes the year you won. I’m talking about the Federal Income Taxes. I can’t speak for the state and possibly city income taxes. Oh and we never had any problem with people coming to us asking for money. Which might be a different story with $1 billion. And limit how much you play the lottery after you win.
Anyone winning millions should expect 50% to be taken in Taxes and various "Fees" that can add up quickly. It should never be more than that and any less is like free money, at least in your mind.
Why limit your play after winning? You mean don't go crazy buying tons of tickets or something else? Sadly, you can't do that in Canada. Part of the "contract" is that they get to publish your name for promotional purposes. You can wear a disguise for the picture, but your name will be published. On the plus side, all lotteries in Canada are pre-taxed and there is no 20yr annuity either......so if you win $70million Canadian dollars (our biggest lottery), you get $70m tax free about a week later, which is when most people claim it. From then on, i'd imagine your life goes downhill, fast. There are many stories up here about lottery winners, and NONE of them are good.
Of course, if your name is Mr Smith, you'll be fine, even if they publish your name. But wear a disguise, collect your money and quickly move to another country and settle in a rich people's neighborhood, so you will blend in.
Great advice. It's really sad to see what some lottery winners do with their new fortune. I always said that if I win, I would not quit my job. Nor would I advertise about it. Of course, I've never won a big one, so my tune may change if I ever get this lucky.
Make loans for monolithic dome homes. They’re pest proof & highly resistant to tornados, fire, hurricanes, and earthquakes. Also very energy efficient. They will be around for hundreds of years if built correctly, & most places in the U.S. won’t give loans for building or buying them. They really should be the standard, instead of boxes made out of wood which can blow over in very strong winds.
One thing I always figured you should do, that wasn’t mentioned here… Take the lump sum instead of distributed, and do *nothing* with it until you’ve paid taxes on it. Then, do all your spending/saving/investing/gifting based on what you get to *keep*, rather than on what you won (I imagine it may be possible to do this ahead of tax time, but I’m not sure)
The first deposit is in a subsidized retirement account (the first deposit in this account triples). With the remaining money only spent a fourth of it in your lifetime (I learned this from Shaq O’Neal from one of his TH-cam conversations). This way you and your family will be wealthy, instead of just rich.

In some countries the lottery companies actually have specialists to help you do these things. Once you tell them you won, they will teach you what to do and what not to do. Often they tell you to tell everyone you won some money and spent it all on your new car/paying for the house and not to live big, but continue your normal life for the time being. And of course invest a big chunk of it to have it if you need it or want to buy something.
If your state doesn’t allow you to claim anonymously what you should do is open up an LLC and a S-Corp. You put that LLC into the S-Corp then create two blind trusts. Put that S-Corp into the first blind trust which then goes into the second blind trust. What this does is makes you pretty much invisible for anyone tryna to figure out who you are.
That's ok, but that doesn't help you become anonymous. You are NEVER anonymous to any state's lottery, even to the anonymous ones. People don't understand what the meaning of anonymous is when it comes to claiming the lottery. You can claim with a trust, but you ALWAYS have to provide your name, address and SSN to claim your prize. There is no way around it.
@@TheDanEdwards Actually it won't work in any of the non-anonymous states that it is played. You are never anonymous to lottery officials. Every state has to make sure each winner is legal in the country, check whether they owe child support and/or other debt to the government. If so, then they will deduct the debt from the winnings immediately. In states that are "NOT" anonymous, if you claim with a trust, that only shields your name temporarily from the public. By law the lottery has to answer the door, and provide all your info., when reporters come knocking. In states that are "anonymous", the lottery officials will tell the reporters to go away, but the lottery themselves have all your info.
So the best way to reduce exposure risk is to wait some time to claim the jackpot, hoping reporters will lose interest in finding you. You should be living in Asia by then. 🙂
I’ll have to read that several times! Beginner at this, but for real state the advice was to have a trust and an LLC, the trust owns the assets like real state while the LLC just handles the business of that like renting, upkeep, etc… the front end. Don't sign that lottery ticket... because you're going to give it to me or 'lose' it and I'll sign it for you! From experience, you sign the ticket as soon as you BUY it! This prevents it from being claimed by someone else.
SIGN THAT LOTTERY TICKET!!!! If someone else gets a hold of your ticket without your signature, that person could sign their name on it and the ticket is now their property. There is no way to prove ownership without a signature on the back of the ticket.
@g.fredsimmons759 but does that mean you can’t give your ticket away? I always thought a good way to get around anonymity is split the ticket with someone you trust who doesn’t mind the smoke.
@@samaraisnt you can still split the ticket. You just would have to do something like a LLC or CO-OP type arrangement. But if the state has a law about public knowledge of winner, then someone would have to be the face. So, find that friend who doesn’t mind the smoke.

Goes to show it's best to keep secret so that to keep the vultures away! The Rich BFF is right!
A similar thing happened to a friend ( call them X) but with bit coin and stocks . I told X to keep that information to yourself .
One days X gets into a heated argument with this couple calling X “ stupid , broke , don’t know anything about $” . So X got mad and showed them the accounts and how much $$ was in there . I tried to stop X
We tried to leave and the next things was that couple ,the girl leaped up from the couch , bashes into us and gets on the floor starts screaming crying saying she broke a bone . The boyfriend goes “ I saw if I saw everything!!! I’ll let this go you know if you pay us $$$” . So after looking at each other I go “ well let’s call the police and the ambulance “ . The couple including the girl got up like nothing happened and the left …..
Idk personally I wouldn’t mind giving all my immediate family at least 1M if it was 100M+. That’s just me. Should keep them quiet. And I want them to be safe. No outrageous cars or houses can be bought with that kind of money but it’d be a believable amount and definitely enough for essential expenses. All my family flashing too much wealth would probably be risky and make us a target.

If you live in a state that doesn’t allow anonymity, set up an LLC in Delaware. They do not release the names of anyone in an LLC. That’s how you get around it. Claim it with the Delaware LLC. Recent winners have used this to get around that loophole.

Solid advice. I'll add that it's a bad idea to talk to others about *any* type of windfall. If your relatives need/want money, make it a gift NEVER a loan.
Nope, a loan. When you loan a person money they aways avoid you.

Most people found deleted after winning lottery 😒 is Because of the lottery rules not the people the winners knew.
Most lottery winners will tell you friends and family members are among the worst. What ever you do for them isn't enough.
This is valuable information Vivian so when I win my lottery mega jackpot, you will be my go to
In some countries the lottery companies actually have specialists to help you do these things. Once you tell them you won, they will teach you what to do and what not to do.
Often they tell you to tell everyone you won some money and spent it all on your new car/paying for the house and not to live big, but continue your normal life for the time being. And of course invest a big chunk of it to have it if you need it or want to buy something.
Exactly. Tell people you won a little something, so that they’re not gonna ask about anything else.
Will not work in some states.

Noted ❤ THANKS !! 🎉🎉🎉I’m a driver , I’m a winner . Things are gonna change . I can feel it baby 😅
That use to be a loophole. Now everyone lottery seller has to have a video camera over their cash register and time stamped to every ticket sold.
