That reminds me of a story my Mexican uncle told me about a McLaren F1 he hid under some floor boards in a barn. I guess his drug lord boss got arrested, and they didn't know what to do with it.
"There should have been a huge hole in the seat for their gigantic balls." That would have been the best quote to start the story! Awesome sharing! Thank you @vinwiki for helping me understand so much more!
I am unashamed to say I love John Ficarra, his story telling, his passion and the stories he shares with us. Thank you to him and to Ed/VinWiki for the treat!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I'll bet John would be great to hang out with, have a beer or two, and tell car stories. Ed has the best job ever!
Wow, as a resident and huge fan of Indianapolis, this was fascinating and well told. One of my favorite parts of May in Indy is listening to Indy 500 historian Donald Davidson tell stories on the radio, and yet I had not heard this. Thank you
Excellent story, knew about the 2 Miller's acquired by Bugatti, also knew that they were found under the factory floor & also knew about the journalist who brought them both home to America, but damn you told it all so well, Rj in Oz 3am.
I was so engrossed in the storytelling. I was like a little kid sitting in front of grandpa who was telling a story of when he was a little boy. Great Job
Man, I could tell just by the title that John would be telling this story. I always love it when he comes on to show us a little piece of racing history.
Thanks for bringing back to life, times and cars long forgotten. You make the history of these old cars more exciting than the over-regulated and accountant damping vehicles and drivers of today. Your love of these historic race cars and drivers is expressed with the stories you tell.
More John Ficarra stories! Great storyteller and the history+insanity of the automotive world needs to be recorded/shared. I’m a big history and automotive enthusiast, and thanks to John now I know Bugatti’s engines were derived from an American design.
I wish John would start his own channel telling stories like Rabbit (Rob Pitts). Being a man that has been sourcing cars for as long as he has and just being entrenched in the automotive world Johns stories are unique and often times informative. More #JohnFicara please. #VinWiki #EdBolian Shoutout from #Bradenton #FL
Totally agree! John is the best. Have you been to the Revs Institute in Naples? I’m a guide there- we have a red 1924 Miller in the collection, sitting on a section of wooden track 😉
I am catching up on years of these videos and watch at least five or six per day for the last few weeks. This was my favorite story (and that is saying a lot)!!!!!
Man... I just had a new favorite last week and then this comes out. The story is amazing, and the ending made me audibly gasp. Without spoiling anything, anytime you’re getting one over on Nazis is the biggest kind of win.
John Ficarra is the most masterful storyteller VINwiki has. Sure, Rabbit's got the ack-seynt, and the vaw-iss, and his stories are funny, but: hear 'em, laugh at 'em -- done. John's stories are woven of many strands: a rich combination of history, personality, culture, technology and mechanics, corporate aspirations and grudges, and many others. Yet one thread stands out: his deep love of the cars he describes. They are stories of passion and awe, meant to appreciated and savoured, and occasionally repeated and appreciated some more.
Fist off love the TH-cam channel!!! But guys you should totally do an off-road edition od autotempest show like did back for Christmas but with an off-roading touch to it. It would be so funny to watch. Love what you are all doing it inspires me everyday. Keep it up. 💪🏽💪🏽🙏🏼🙏🏼
I am a fan of all things Indianapolis 500 and though I'm familiar with the fabled Miller 91 and its astonishing engineering, I did not know much about Leon Duray other than knowing his name. My thanks to VINwiki and especially John Ficarra and his tremendous knowledge and wonderful story telling skill. I would love to hear more from John about the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's history of the most famous race in the world, "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing."
John Ficarra is that guy you meet at a museum who tells you about everything, but you’re unsure if he actually works there
@Henry Me either
That happened. I’m sure of it.
LOL. I'm married to him and I can confirm this assessment is spot on!

Yeah they spray painted it brown I heard
The one with the red interior? I saw it at a wafflehouse last week in Sinaloa

Could do an hour segment with this guy and I'd still want more. His story telling is amazing
No politics, just good storytelling. This video is just the reason I subscribed to this channel!
John's videos are among my favorite Vinwiki episodes.

I was so engrossed in the storytelling. I was like a little kid sitting in front of grandpa who was telling a story of when he was a little boy. Great Job
