A really pleasant tour of the Headland, and, the narration was `top notch`...as a `Monkeyhanger` born and bred, now living in North Yorkshire, I believe Hartlepool to be a most underrated town and the locals some of the easiest going of people there are. Are you a local Robert ?
Cheers derek. Been here since 2015 when i finally gave up the rat race in London (when my ticker gave up on me). Originally from a Durham pit village but left and moved south 1980. Lived London and abroad in the intervening years but made one of the few decent decisions of my life in choosing to spend my dotage on the Headland - hopefully a few miles yet on the clock.😁
My mums family, the Allen's, were from Wingate Pit Village and her mum eventually had a second hand bric a brac shop on Middleton Road. My dad from Seaton Carew although his mum went to live on Chester Road in Hartlepool. Thank you for this video.
The company that I work for are planning to build a warehouse in that area and we might move there as the area seems really lovely and on the plus side there is a beach that you can enjoy on a nice summer day .
@@Granto-ni9qw I have no idea , nothing was said officially but from what people were saying the rumour is that it will be in Darlington so I am not sure .
St Hildas Church was built in 12th century. Possibly built on the site of the monastery which was here in 7 th century. St Hilda was here fron 649 to 657 when she went to whitby to start a monastery there. St Hildas Church is well attended every week and visitors come for far and near to visit. Pilgrim groups come and the local schools come as part of their curriculum.
Why wouldn’t you show the duke of Cleveland? You where stood in front of it. One of the oldest buildings standing in the town and a nice pub/restaurant
Lots of mistakes there, St Hilda's wasnt built in the 640s, the houses around the war memorial are Victorian and not Edwardian and the bombardment was on the 16 of december and not the 17th
Grey lady or gray gums and ivan bone and stuart leighton should NOTTT of been in frirage youthey watching me dance we have sunbeds now ivan does your sister do free food or free bar still she did for me pop fred boagey good job i dont drink and he is dead ❤

Sorry to correct you but the houses around the Heugh gardens aren't Edwardian. They date from around 1840.

Bombardment was 16th Dec 1914
My Granddad was on his way to Henry Smiths school when the bombardment started
