Hi Pete 🤗Doing the exact same for my carrera track inner and outer borders, but using laminate flooring in 8mm thickness, , can't get plywood or MDF here in my local area 🙄 like living on the moon sometimes 😅 tracks looking great Pete
My god, the lack of elf and saftey 😂 put a mask on. Looking good Pete, rough and ready is fine, you need a bit of space between the track for expansion and contraction, way ahead of me on scenery! ❤
Nice layout!! I really like my policar track it's been awesome! I just found out the other day I had a EVA foam floor matt the kind that lock together like a puzzle it was tan but they came in many colors on amazon the matt fit perfect to the track height so you can make boarders or in lays like how you are doing so easy in most any color too! I joined ya!!
That's a superb idea, I hadn't thought of that stuff, we have it as the missis used it a while back for some for padding around the floor where the weights went ...... I'm going for an interception 💯😂😂
I changed my track from Scalextric digital to Policar a couple of years ago due to frustration with the continous maintenance required for Scalextric digital and have been doing lots of scenic elements like this. It makes the hobby for me as creates its own world for racing.
I had a similar experience so, fingers crossed the Policar does better but, so far so good this end. How are you finding yours and, when did you swap over?
Great video Pete! I started doing the same thing today, it all looks much better flush with the track and best of all you can take each module out to work on scenery! Happy New Year buddy!
Me too, they do recommend to use track designing software called Policar TCad (no relation). I used it to design this layout and it was easier than anything else I've tried and, added bonus, it itineraries the pieces from your design so, you know what to buy 👌🏻

search online for track plans
What size is your layout
2840x2420mm ideally I need to add 200mm to one side which he 2840x2620mm 👌🏻
no straights shorter than 3'. Otherwise, linked curves
Pete will you be Screwing the wood to the table. ?
No mate, just having it loose as it's pretty stable
fasten the track to the table with tiny finishing nails
Cheers Dan
