Literally just talked with Indicator lol... His bass is actually the *3rd* Subharmonic of throat bass (2 octaves below the vocalized pitch you are singing when using throat bass. Vibration bass is the 2nd Subharmonic - this is another level below that!). Incredibly hard to do consistently, but he's got it down really well 🔥 Edit: I think he's the first person I've ever heard use the 3rd Subharmonic of throat bass like this before. Big ups to him for pushing the limits of what's humanly possible 🔥😎 Know anyone else that's used the 3rd??
Whaaattttttt I’ve been racking my brain and searching all throughout TH-cam comments for an explanation of the mechanics for indicator’s alien bass!! The closest I’ve gotten was Wunknown, who describes it as “harmonizing the vocal fry voice with the false vocal chords” and he did definitely draw a distinction between this bass and vibration bass. But given what you said about vibration bass, how it’s actually the second subharmonic of standard kargyraa throat bass, indicator’s alien bass is the THIRD subharmonic? What interval is harmonizing to create the third subharmonic? And how would you go about about “adjusting” the throat or vibration bass to activate the3rd subharmonic?
@@alkmibeats2133 "harmonizing the vocal fry voice with the false vocal folds" is actually pretty accurate. Honestly... I hate to say this... But techniques like this are almost unteachable without really being in person with someone that can do the technique really well. The best way I can describe "popping" down to different subharmonics is you have to imagine the subharmonic pitch, modify your embouchure appropriately, and allow the lower Subharmonic to *pop* into place. In my opinion, popping down Subharmonic levels in the original "subharmonic bass technique" that I showed using regular folds in the past is much, much easier than doing it with throat bass. This one is super hard 😅 To put Indicator's skill in perspective: Vibration bass (2nd SH) is hard for me and I've practiced it a lot. I've only ever hit the 3rd SH of throat bass a couple times by accident. Indicator has the 3rd SH of throat bass down better than most people have their 1st down. Super impressive! Super difficult!
Indicator himself actually said his bass is a unique bass he cultivated over a few years, combining a mix of vibration bass, subharmonic bass, and chest bass

Just amazing what you can do with a voice. Btw you're videos are extremely motivating for me to learn singing finally. When you talk about voice it feels much more "quantitative" than it does on a lot of singing tutorials/channels. Although everyone says that the vocal cords are muscles like any other muscle your videos get that technical aspect across a lot better.
Here's a few ideas: Bigman, Gene, Tom Thum. Excellent musicality. Alem, Alexinho, Efaybee - Alem is a bit more on the technical side but all three of them will impress you.
10:32 Piggy-backing onto all the comments that say to check out BIGMAN. This is his specialty, so much that he's also been on Ellen. He's got a throat bass as clean as Codfish's. If you're looking for very clean sounding vocal transitions and techniques, I recommend checking out his song "Confused." If you're looking for a very _full_ sounding beatbox song, I recommend checking out his cover of "Beat It." Some other beatboxers with wacky vocal techniques: SHOW-GO - I see a couple of these in the comments. He's got this "Double Voice" (not to be confused with polyphonic voice), which I believe is basically super good yodeling control. (An aside: If anyone reading this wants to check this out for fun, non-beatboxer Emma Robinson does a cover of Titanium where she does a similar thing which some people call "False Auto-Tune," and it sounds ridiculous.) DJ B3AN - He's got this thing called the "Super Evil Bass," which you can hear in his first round vs Colaps. IMPROVER - I see a lot of this in the comments as well. The most recent Russian Beatbox Champ. Very good vocal bass and control over duck-sound pitch. The groove is insane.
i love your revision on what you think is going on with the beatboxers. very interesting to see a bass vocalist opinion on this music style. keep it up fam.
Hi David! If you’re looking for more musical or melodic beatbox, I highly recommend you *“See You There” by Gene Shinozaki.* It’ll definitely be the most chill and beautiful beatboxing you’ve ever heard!

It's the production, the commentary, the music side, vocal technique side... Damn bro you've combined all your talents into some special shit here. Just gotta incorporate restoration into it somehow...
The lip buzz isn't really a term most beatboxers use, I think it's more of an a capella thing. There's lip oscillations, where the lips aren't as close to each other and sounds really good when vocalized. Then there's lip BASS (Napom's tutorial was about this one), where the lips vibrate closer and make a more percussive sound, like a strawberry. I really recommend looking into Gene Shinozaki, he has a tutorial on lip oscillations. Also look at his song "Never Give Up", he plays guitar and beatboxes at the same time! A video on that one would be sick. Awesome videos, keep it up man!
He cant appreciate how pwad made special sounds which literally impossible to imagine how. Especially to the extra vibrations he made while doing the vocal bass which makes the crazy alien sound.
Seriously, your face during the first beatbox react and this one was different. You look like you're enjoying beatbox the more you watch. Love your vid
