honestly when it was first announced and i saw the visuals, it looked beautiful! and i was so so excited. but i watched the first episode and it was so.. underwhelming yet overwhelming at the same time? the original may not be a perfect adaptation but i still prefer it over... this
Shinku's fake body was a replica, hinaichigos body was actually eaten by kirakishou, what happened was that Hinaichigo gave her rosa mystica to shinku, and this rosa mystica alongside berrybell protected the real body of shinku, at the end of the first manga saga kirakishou traps shinku in her rose within the spiderwebs, and shiku escaped with help of laplace into a replica. thats the replica unwound jun made, Hinaichigos body is hidden within kirakishous junk room, at the castle of origins, it is revealed in the mangas finale (III ARCH)
Oohhh I see!!! Okay, I was a little confused on whose body was whose lol I was wondering where that spare body came from in the manga, thanks for the clarification!
I _loved_ Rozen Maiden 2013, it's my 7th favorite anime of all time. As someone who has not watched the previous seasons, that bait-and-switch from a seeming, magic fantasy, fighting anime into a hikkikomori slice of life is the freshest twist I've seen in any fiction. Plus, the artstyle is _amaaaazing,_ would love more Suigintou~♡
Listen I love Zurückspulen, they brought back Ali project for the opening, the character design is way better and faithful to the manga (specially the proportions, because the other anime were all over the place) The main problem is that since they did a very quick resume of the manga it feels like nothing matters, specially because that's THE part of the story that, I will not say that it helps to understand, but gets you used to how weird Rozen Maiden is as a whole. I really wish we had a second season because it's just so epic and f-up, but this is Studio DEEN so we will never get what we want...
This anime will always be up there with my favourite looking shows. It really is a shame how condensed everything had to be to fit so much into such a short season, and especially with how unique Rozen Maiden feels, it's really difficult to convey the same atmosphere as the manga. I think the problem with the first episode is more like the people it aimed for. Just as a reminder to people who read the manga a long time ago, honestly, I think it does its job, but sadly a good reminder does not a good TV episode make. Your idea with the movie, that sounds like it could have worked better. But alas, this sequel came rather late, and RZ seems to be more unknown in the west in general, so it would have been difficult from the get-go to garner new fans, I think. I really wish the second run of the manga would have been released in German, so I could have supported it officially better... but I guess the original didn't sell that well here. I always feel guilty when reading unofficial translation - is there an official English translation of the second manga still in print or available digitally? You know, these videos made me realize something: while reading as far as I have I was never confused and could follow along, but listening to someone else summarize the story - you start to realize how high-concept and abstract some of the stuff in this story is. But hey, that's why I love it. Reminds me a bit of Kingdom Hearts, now that I think about it. But that may also be the music in the video.
also poor hinaichigo, shes my fave even before i didnt watch the 1st season. i never thought she is spoiled. i just managed to understand her because of us being alike, me being always inside the house. i love her character design. also her name is little strawberry, i love strawberries. as i watched the 1st season episode 2 then 3, i felt sad about the writing she got in the 2013 version. especially when shes the first to disappear, old me felt shinku is hina's big sister figure but thats only it.
Hi there! So glad to see that you published a review of Rozen Maiden's third season. When I first discovered this channel and saw that you had posted reviews for the first two seasons, I was immensely looking forward to seeing what your review of the final season would be like. Thank you! I can agree that the earlier episodes felt rather rushed- though to me it seemed more a quick recap of previous major events in this continuity than a glaring fault to the characters as a whole. As having seen Rozen Maiden and already being emotionally invested with the original cast, I didn't require a full multi-episode review. Witnessing the struggles of Unwound Jun and his day-to-day life was an interesting concept that quickly became overshadowed by the advent of the Rozen Maiden cast as a whole. Seeing how his life was affected by a sudden choice after years of following relative monotony was quite endearing in a way. He, who had been bullied and though sheer force of will *made* himself go outside only to find an empty unforgiving world, now finds a ray of light in people simply deciding to talk to him. Saitou, Shinju, Wound Jun, even Suigintou and Kirakishou for a brief moment. He *decides* to continue pushing forward, piece by piece. There is a sense of desperation flavoured by his overall pessimism and lingering depression that was masterfully executed. The Rozen Maiden themselves were done rather well considering the episode constraint. Hinaichigo and Souseiseki were rather underappreciated, though that can be more due to a lowly viewer wishing to see more of the characters they like. Their demise was fitting to the story, a short story, and thus acceptable enough. Though I do wish we had more time to bond with them, just for old times sake. How much would you like to go back and relearn about, say, Hinaichigo, and witness her emotional growth though a first-viewing perspective? Ah. It would be so nice. We did get a little bit of that in the scenes featuring Shinku and Suigintou. They had a fair amount of chemistry despite their bitterness and their continuing escapades became a highlight of every episode that featured them. Little Shinku sweeping up Suigintou's feathers because Unwound Jun got mad was very cute. Or the scene involving Lempicka and Meimei awkwardly carrying up the cup of tea for Suigintou that Unwound Jun left aside. Small little features like that I absolutely adored. Then came Kirakishou. Her presence held this certain air to it which completely dominated every scene that even mentioned her. Yet, when introduced she had this beautiful scene with a wonderful soundtrack playing in the background. A sort of 'silk hiding steel' portrayal of a beautiful little doll driven mad by her history. We as viewers *know* that she's bad news to everyone involved, especially after her defeat of Hinaichigo, but there is something about her movements that doesn't exactly fit with her actions. She has this *cute* aspect that, regardless of her actions throughout the anime and manga, she almost never drops. It's unsettling, but in a way it's endearing. Makes you wonder just how broken she really is to reach such a state. Kirakishou's history is another thing to consider. One part of her history that was overlooked in your review was that Rozen did not fail at finishing Kirakishou due to simply running out of time, he *actively chose not to give her a body*, instead trapping her in the N-Field. This is mentioned specifically in episode 9, where Kirakishou is able to restrain both Suigintou and Shinku, where Suigintou questions her on her motives. Kirakishou recalls her first meeting with Suigintou, where Suigintou called her "junk" and a "pathetic illusion". She seemed rather confused at the time, before growing frustrated and lashing out. Whilst previously her actions seemed to be entirely based upon the need to capture more Masters to power her garden, she quickly moved towards attaining a body of her own- seen in her capture and subsequent defeat of Hinaichigo. *But it doesn't work*. So, she moves on. If Kirakishou can't make a body herself, then she will find someone who can. Rozen had chosen poorly, but what if she could find someone who would decide to correct Rozen's mistake and craft her an actual body? She eventually finds Unwound Jun and sends him pieces of another sister she had captured. Imagine her palpable relief when he started working on them? Piece by piece? The anime even shows her vines wrapping around his arms, constricting and pulling him ever forward. We see this in a viewer sense as *she's manipulating him with the N-Field*. Imagine it from her eyes. To her, it would almost seem as if they're working together. Mutual partners. Then, when she finally is able to journey into the world in a physical body of her own, she is attacked by her desperate sisters. But she doesn't care. She's happy. She has a body. So what if her sisters want to mess with her? But, then Unwound Jun also sides against her, choosing instead to work towards defeating her in his own way. Her grief in the following episodes is certainly more impactful after that. Anywho. I'll stop this little tangent. She's a favoured character of mine, admittedly. I do a lot of writing in my spare time and she has been quite the character study for me. Sort of a diamond in the rough. Sure, Rozen Maiden's third season wasn't particularly well-received or even well-executed at times, but the characters themselves are still there. And that, for me, was all I needed from that series. Thank you once again for reviewing this season. It was wonderful to watch and see that some people still remember this little show and its characters, even if it isn't in an entirely positive flavour. One can only hope that, someday, the series is rebooted and given enough time to grow into something truly amazing. Until then~
This was definitely very disappointing. It rushed through the story so fast and we didn’t get to see all the extra bits that happened in the manga. Why can’t any of the many adaptations actually do it like the manga?!
I'm guessing Barasuishou was used as a placeholder since in the last episode of Rozen Maiden: Traümend they showed Kirakishou and her design was Barasuishou but recoloured.
Hey. I hope you're doing well. I don't know a lot about Rozen Maiden. But after hearing you talking about this version. It actually gives me the impression that the anime studio thought that both Fullmetal and Hellsing had a reboot series and it was succesful without ever understanding why they were a success to begin with. I don't like it when an anime company(And company in general) put more faith in trends rather than the actual product
I want nothing more in life than for the original manga to get a proper adaptation. 0:50 Peach-Pit still will not talk about what actually happened to get it cancelled from Comic BIRZ. Getting sick only happened to one of them and that was during the sequel manga's run. It's been rumored since it happened that Comic BIRZ lost the manuscript for the original Phase 43 of Rozen Maiden. Whatever exactly happened, BIRZ faced possible legal issues for advertising a new chapter of Rozen Maiden that did not appear in the magazine the month it was advertised for. 22:22 Speaking as someone who read the raws as the chapters came out and as someone who helped bring you guys the English translation, Rozen Maiden 0 isn't a very good place to start out with. It either poorly explains or neglects explaining a lot of the concepts and the ending is imo the worst of the 3 RM manga. I really want to fix the translations for the middle chapters because, omfg, there are some glaring issues. Your comment on it being similar to the OVA is a bit funny when the lightnovel Rot-Schwarz is WAY closer to the OVA in that it also focuses on Shinku and Suigintou and takes place in 1800's England. I would def rec Rot-Schwarz for fans in want of new content to read (my friend translated it, megukakizaki on Tumblr)
I remember the reboot was really doubled down on that very heavy dread feeling tone from the original series but its the first instance of being too faithful where its hitting me the sane way with the visuals and music so mich so i couldnt review it propery and couldnt finish it because of it
I'm glad you finally talked about rewind, for god's sake I'm glad you touched up on the fact that they speedran hinaichigo's death. It's upsetting because they did establish megu and suigintou's character, why not hinaichigo?! Also im just glad in your past videos you talked about how weird traümend and överture were. Speaking of, you should maybe talk about merch, perhaps!! I was planning to get my hands on nendoroid shinku and suigintou! oh, and souseiseki and suiseiseki are getting nendoroids as well!!
I know right!? Especially when her death was so sad in the manga! That could be interesting. I'm shocked they're still making Rozen Maiden merch! I would definitely love a Nendoroid of Souseiseki for sure! I do have *most* of the Pullip dolls for Rozen Maiden actually. I have the original Shinku, Hina Ichigo, Souseiseki and Suiseiseki. I also have the reboot era contest winner for the 8th Rozen Maiden doll! I'm just missing Kanaria, Suigintou, Kirakishou and Barasuishou ^^
as someone who first introduced to the series by this disappointing reboot, I agree. I researched about the manga and well, episode 1 of the 2013 sucks because it is the rushed version of the rozen maiden I manga. The rest of the episode, still rushed. This anime sole purpose is to be an advertisement for the manga. in short, read the manga. as for my other opinion, i am guilty of loving this anime despite its flaws. its still accurate of shinku, hinaichigo and suigintou's personalities. If it weren't for them and the other rozen maiden dolls, i wouldve dropped this anime. on my first watch, i finished episode 1 but not episode 2, i was about to drop it because of boring jun that i didnt even know because this is my first rozen maiden show. but now, his character made sense because i am currently watching season 1 but tbh its still has that boring feel when it comes to his life because this isnt wounded jun. old me probably thought, hey why shouldnt the pov not on wounded jun? i wanna know more about wounded jun. and tbh i got confused because i didnt read the manga that time. even reading the manga on some random chapter, it felt odd. there's a new character i didnt knew because the anime didnt showed them. i was shocked to see kirakishou has a medium. Also I love the season 1 rozen maiden, ill probably watch your review about the old seasons after i finish watching all old seasons.
The lolita brand collab was actually with Innocent World, not Angelic Pretty! (Apologies for being pedantic, I was re-visiting my nostalgia for Rozen Maiden and came across your video! 😁)
My mistake! The pages I was viewing called it Angelic Pretty, so it seems the sources I was looking at mistranslated it U_U Thank you for checking out my video, by the way! :D
I will agree on the 1st episode. As a manga reader I did not really care, because I knew exactly what happened, but watching it from an anime only perspective this is one hell of a mess!
Also about the 2nd arc of Rozen Maiden 2 (the names are so confusing). It was a heavy read, while it is possible for me to read about 10 chapters of the story, reading just about 2 chapters of this arc was damn tiring! But I still enjoyed it very much!
Your interpretation German topic was funny. Spent the time with this anime. Music score have me into 2013. Rozen Maiden’s triple title game goes awesome exploration world lore.
I agree with you 99% all the way however ti think as you stated the animation is poppin I personally think it really matched the manga (art style wise) to a T and now its the 20th anniversary of the series/ manga and as you said the rewind was a total loss in direction and concept. They really did have great directors and recruitment from previous animes but it was extremely unfortunate that the anime was done timed accordingly as you stated. I have also read the entire manga and your right if they wanted to speed everything up they really should have made it into a movie instead of a series cuz that way they could have gone to the ending arc and the animation would have been beautiful. Lol I did compete in the rozen maiden contest way back then when they were promoting the anime and it was very nostalgic that you brought up everything that you said bc it was 💯 accurate a lot of promoting but horrible directing , but I will add that one thing that i really appreciated ghat you did not mention in this is that they brought back the original voice actors from the previous original series which was a beautiful hopefully one day that someone will fix the animation and make it beautiful. Thank for the video it was truly truly beautiful. 🌈😇♥️
I remember this anime being announced just as i was catching up on the manga so i was happily waiting for it, only for the first episode to be dissapointingly rushed, even knowing everything in context i didn't like the storytelling. However the visuals and specially the OP were majestic, i watched it all because i like RM, but it needed to be handled better.
Me too that's what it feels like because the fact that in the first episode we get to see the first Rosen Maiden doll which to be honest is my favorite character I like her design a whole lot and also if there was a plastic version of the porcelain Rosen Maiden dolls I would buy one which would I buy I probably would buy the first rozen Maiden doll which is called by her medium a black angel
The second half of Rozen Maiden's manga was never officially translated so you'll have to read it online for free at places like Mangakalot. It's awful because I'd love to support the official release but you can't when it's never been translated. :/ The last distributers of the Rozen Maiden manga were TokyoPop, who are now defunct, so it's unknown if any manga translation companies like Viz Media can or will ever pick up Rozen Maiden.
If another Rosen Maiden adaptation they better make it good and not have it be terrible and not have it just kill off all the characters because hearing your video it sounds like all the characters in like the reboot just got killed off one at a time and also can they please like make the anime be based off of the manga because I like that this anime actually made the reason why June stops going to school will be because people make fun of him cuz he likes to sew and create things with fabric and thread and maybe yarn because the fact in like the actual good anime that they made the reason why he stopped going to school because of him game made fun of for being a quote-unquote nerd is just it's not terrible but the manga saying that the reason why he gets made fun of is because he likes to so things
I wish you wasn't like real life because I want to create my own Rosemary and doll take it I probably wouldn't be able to do it because those Rosen maidens took time took way more effort than anyone could ever try to do
Kira is my least favorite character oddly enough, cuz her powers, her motivations and her behavior feels so... wrong when compared to everything else in the setting. Her abilities are damn near infinite, she can steal souls and do whatever she wants. She acts strangely sexual which I find very off putting, this coming from a guy who likes edgy and dark stuff, but it feels weird in Rozen Maiden.
I honestly had trouble keeping up with the story and only watched the anime , I enjoyed the alternative universes and how they connect through the n- field, and I like the explanations of how it works more in the rewind series it seems more in depth than the original anime and I love the idea of kirikishuo being a completely atheriel until she bacily takes a body to become whole .
It's almost like curricio I'm sorry for pronouncing that name wrong but I don't know to pronounce Japanese things or German things better so yeah like Kira kisho wants to be Alice as trying to pretend to be Alice because the fact that she can only show up in dreams like how Alice was a dream makes you think she's trying to pretend to be Alice because the fact that she's not real makes you think that Alice is her but Alice would never be her because this doll is as Unholy as the angel demon people from Black Butler
As someone whose watched 4 Rozen Maiden series and read the manga, I honestly can't remember if I've seen this one... If this is the first one that brought the split timeline from the Manga and sort of ignored the first anime adaptation, I saw it, if its a DIFFERENT anime that does the same thing, I might not have... gah, so confusing.
Rewind was pretty much rush while watching I was sad that Hinaichigo didn’t get that much screen-time then she gone also while Jun was collecting all part to build Shinku I got bored cause it took few episodes to finally build her yes it was interesting see how build dolls also Kanaria wasn’t in many episodes to and she also one my favorite then ending just leave you on clip hanger if I recommend anyone rozen maiden I would have pick 2004 cause you get see half all dolls I love the 2004 version cause I get see Hinaichigo more cause she also one my favorite but cause you get understand the characters more you get see Jun overcome his fear yes I love the art in it and music is lovely also the animation is nice but the story and characters are just rush
Really sad the sequel is bad I got my interest from a Collab with Sinoalice an I love the soundtrack. I hope for a remake in general for the new people.
I always thought the rozen maiden's main timeline was the light novel and not the manga? Also, there is something that the video creator reviewer did not point out because she doesnt know. By 2013 there was a "Rozen Maiden exhaustion". In Japan, everyone knew Rozen Maiden, what they were all about and what not. So the reason why the first half was rushed is because everyone already knew what would happen so there was no need to put details. The point of the Rewind OVA was to show the parts that was not known before and to finish the story. The first part was just a summary of what has already been shown.
You know I thought in the reboot they would have fixed for the problems like the First doll having a missing torso and also June being bullied because he's a nerd but no they just ruined the whole story
Was there a better ending for the better rozen Maiden series which was when it was first created you know what I hate we never get to see Alice or at least the one who doesn't look like a fairy because Alice in season 1 when shinkos describing her she just looks like some kind of white rainbow glow in the dark fairy at least to me
ROZEN MAIDEN MANGA SPOILERS: That's just a dramatic explanation. When we see Shinku as "Alice", she has no physical form when she speaks with Rozen. Think of it like two people speaking in the afterlife? When "Alice" is with Rozen, she tells him how sad she is that all her sisters are dead and their souls are inside of her so she wishes for them to be revived. Rozen does that but he tells her it'll kill Shinku to reverse the "Alice" process but she does it anyway. I don't think Alice was ever meant to have a physical form, I think that was just the dolls' assumption because of Rozen's own desperation. The Rozen Maidens were created to try and revive Rozen's daughter, Alice, so it's likely they assumed they would be a human.
I can't lie. I prefer this one over the old ones, to me it just feels more acceptable for an adult male to watch like my self. The show was over all more depressing, but the first 9 or so episodes I really enjoyed
honestly when it was first announced and i saw the visuals, it looked beautiful! and i was so so excited. but i watched the first episode and it was so.. underwhelming yet overwhelming at the same time? the original may not be a perfect adaptation but i still prefer it over... this

@@WeebaLu its ok, the anime is a bit confusing, to know this u have to actually read the manga.
time travel, alternative universes...my head feels so fried rn

I've been waiting for this for such a long time.
I will be forever grateful with Rozen Maiden as I discovered Shimotsuki Haruka or Kukui by their endings.
I really don’t fw how Hina got killed so early. With her being my favorite i was so over it already
I miss the old anime
This anime is weird because its a sequel to an anime series that went off script... but it kept faithful to the manga. Its a weird choice.
OH GOSH TYSM FOR THE REVIEW
Weebalu is my idol.
This anime will always be my all time favorite!!!
Me too that's what it feels like because the fact that in the first episode we get to see the first Rosen Maiden doll which to be honest is my favorite character I like her design a whole lot and also if there was a plastic version of the porcelain Rosen Maiden dolls I would buy one which would I buy I probably would buy the first rozen Maiden doll which is called by her medium a black angel
another thing i like is the animation.
Still belive the concept of this anime is a masterpiece. Forever one of my personal faves.
Great video :) i really like Rozen maiden and i was wondering where you can read the second manga series 😅
The second half of Rozen Maiden's manga was never officially translated so you'll have to read it online for free at places like Mangakalot. It's awful because I'd love to support the official release but you can't when it's never been translated. :/
The last distributers of the Rozen Maiden manga were TokyoPop, who are now defunct, so it's unknown if any manga translation companies like Viz Media can or will ever pick up Rozen Maiden.
@@WeebaLu Ok, thank you so much. Now i'll finally be able to finish the manga.
YAAAAASSSS ANOTHER ROZEN MAIDEN RELATED VIDEO FROM THE LEGENDARY WEEBALU HERSELF!!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳
I love this season and thought it was great, minus the first episode and the dub. I hope there's a better fan dub or something...
funny part, who even thought of making a 2nd adaptation based on the 2nd manga, why not first manga?
Oh I see🤔 this is a reboot…interesting. I literally just found out about this😅 hello 👋
1.7.22
I u talk about the manga
Nice reviews. Could you do a review of Rozen Maiden 0 manga please. But only if you want to.
I'm not too interested, but we'll see! The manga is really short and really...weird, but who knows! I might do it in the future.
@@WeebaLu Thank you
I thought original fruits basket abaptation kinda bad
I always thought the rozen maiden's main timeline was the light novel and not the manga?
Also, there is something that the video creator reviewer did not point out because she doesnt know. By 2013 there was a "Rozen Maiden exhaustion". In Japan, everyone knew Rozen Maiden, what they were all about and what not. So the reason why the first half was rushed is because everyone already knew what would happen so there was no need to put details. The point of the Rewind OVA was to show the parts that was not known before and to finish the story. The first part was just a summary of what has already been shown.
I love rozen maiden I enjoy the anime but sad thing is crunchyroll took a lot of sentai filmworks shows off
Are you German
Nope! I'm a huge fan of a German band though, who's early songs were all in German, so I ended up trying to learn a little to sing the songs better.
Rozen maiden 2013 is an amazing anime that doesn't have a first episode nor a second half of the last episode.
I really enjoyed the art and music from this new season but also feel it lacked the heart of the original story and fell flat.
Will you ever talk about webtoon
CanCV you do a video on Obsolete Dream manga?
I like all rozen maiden parts lol
I cant take the white vines seriously because they look like rice noodles
Old one was better
Hi
I can't lie. I prefer this one over the old ones, to me it just feels more acceptable for an adult male to watch like my self. The show was over all more depressing, but the first 9 or so episodes I really enjoyed
