No Sochan at point for 27 games. Also 24 games lost by 7pts or fewer. I do think we are 19 games better than last year.

No sochan is a starter.
I definitely think they'll compete for the play-in. Houston went from 22-60 in 2023, to 41 wins last year with Fred vanvleet and Dillon Brooks added. Spurs will compete.
Wemby's improvement appears to be continuing. It's likely he'll attract so much defensive attention that Vassell and Barnes could look like heroes. Barnes made 38.7% of his 3-point attempts. Vassell hit 37,2% of his threes.
Spurs were 11-12 in their last 23 games, not the same team that started 11-48. On top of that added Paul, Barns, Castle while only loosing Graham. 41 wins seems probable.
There is so much talent in the NBA spread throughout the league. At the same time is there any defensive scheme that can stop the Wemby-CP3 pick and roll duo? CP's lobs will be too high to defend against, and Wemby's accuracy from the 3-point line has also improved.
Why is no one seeing that the Spurs backups just got a lot better? Jones, Champagnie, Castle added to Keldon and Collins should provide a large boost to the defense and some slightly better scoring. That second group lost the vast majority of the games last year, not the starters (after the Sochan experiment ended). Sure, the starters didn't hang in there in every game, but especially in the second half they showed they can compete, and Wemby's gonna rule this year with Paul on point. I can definitely see a 19 game improvement, possibly more if Castle does well. The Spurs wouldn't be the first team to make a sudden and extreme turn around. We'll see how the players mesh after 15 or 20 games....I'm excited!
Forget (injury prone) Bassey...bring back Mamu. He meshed well in many games he played at the end of last season. He seems to be a Spurs type player.
Rudy is being realistic. Neither vet acquired are all-star material at this stage of their careers. I don’t see this team becoming a play-in team if the bar is set at 40 plus wins. Play-in should be achievable the season after the next season.
I think it would be easier to say the team we think were better than in the west, rather than
Playin? improbable. Playoff? very doubtful. But of course I'd love that!

Wemby is hungry, he will carry the Spurs in the Playoffs if necessary next season. But I think with Castle and CP3 he don’t have to and we will have a great time to witness growing greatness 😉👍

1/ Mamu is unrestricted free agent. And using at 5 is dumb. he's a 4/3.
2/ Keldon is to small to play PF. Every time he had to play 4, it was an horrible result
3/ Castle as a PG not a SG

Not sure if spurs are better than any of those teams. Maybe Houston and Memphis with Ja back but even then we miss the Play in tournament.

Fans sleeping on the Spurs b/c they have no vision as to how great VW will be in Year 2. Watch France in the Olympics for proof. Spurs will avoid the play-in and be a 6th seed. 50 wins b/c of VW-Sochan-Castle-CP3 defensive team that will turn the 20 or so lossed by 6 points of less into wins. Getting Lauri Markk would be 55 wins but the Spurs are not going to give Ainge his asking price.

Spurs are playoff bound this year. They tanked last two seasons intentionally, and the last half they actually started balling and playing Wemby more minutes. Spurs lost 24 games by fewer than 7 points last season. Most of Those games will be won this season. The Alien 👽 is going to play 30 plus minutes a game, and we have our point guard now. The naysayers don’t realize how good VW is. He is THE BEST player in the world, and we got him.
Yeah the entire league who is under .500 is going to tank this season for Cooper Flag. Spurs shouldn’t make it obvious by tanking four seasons in a row. Can’t win all of them. We got Victor, Castle, CP3, Vassell, Sohan, and two number ones next season. Maybe one of those #1s will get us Coop! Then we have more every year through 2031. Ridiculous Dynasty setup.. Spurs are the Future of the NBA. LFG!
