I did hear _”Big Ideas”_ from Radiohead live well before _”Nude”_ was released... it was frelling amazing to hear live for the first time, especially with the Hammond B3 organ (with a Leslie case) they had that tour. I’ve always preferred _”Big Ideas”_ for the expanded lyrics... if any song needed needed more lines...
This version is incredible. You can hear everything, the despair in Thom's voice, he's able to find his strength in the weaknesses of the human mind and transforms it in music ... More than an inspiration, he is the voice of millions of people's darkness
Honestly I think he developed much more vibrato as he got older. His voice was certainly stronger and fuller in his youth though. Love love love the In Rainbows version, surprised you don’t!
i'm very glad they managed to bring this song to life in the studio. it's the best of the new-old songs... songs from before kid a, that took them a hell of a long time to record.
When listening to both renditions, I feel as if I shouldn't be comparing this to that of the In Rainbows studio version. Both of them are incredible. I like this version in times when I need a retrospective look at Radiohead and music itself.
I love In Rainbows to bits, but this version is so pure, so unadulterated. I really don't know which one I like more. Same with True Love Waits, I love the acoustic live versions
Using nothing but an acoustic guitar makes the song more raw and the ambiance more personnal, that's why most of you feel so touched by it. But there is definitely more work and potential in the In Rainbows version than this one. I'm not saying it's bad (it can't be bad it's nude!), but don't forget that one of the reason why you love this one so much is because: 1) it feels newer because you've heard the studio version before 2) you recognize the song (thinking OMG this is nude i know this!)
I finally get why people call In Rainbows a mature album. Take for example this song. Here, it's infantile, naive, like a young person finally learning about how the world works. The In Rainbows version sounds like adult, and wise. And even sounds sarcastic, as if to portray that the narrator doesn't know anything. But both version are intimate, and I think that's the point that the song is trying to get across.
Don't get any big ideas They're not going to happen You paint yourself white and feel the noise But there'll be something missing And now that you found it, it's gone Now that you feel it, you don't You've gone off the rails She stands stark naked and she beckons you to bed Don't go, you'll only want to come back again So don't get any big ideas They're not going to happen You'll go to hell for what your dirty mind is thinking And now that you found it, it's gone And now that you feel it, you don't You've gone off the rails
I tought that the Nude from the album version is the best song ever created, and know i just heard this, and, i was in shock. Can the best song ever wrote can have a better version ? And its so deep, i almost started to cry.
This song has gone through so many changes . I absolutely love the second verse and even another version "she kisses you with tongue...". Also I like how Thom singing here
Prob my favorite song to sing in the shower for years…bc the vocals and melody and fluidity are so beautiful…just now realizing that stanza that wasn’t on the album version…how?
Nude easily replaced Talk Show Host as my favorite Radiohead song when I heard it, but I could replace the finished track of Nude with this early rendition. The extra verse in this version kinda clarifies what was put on In Rainbows. That one seems disjointed, like Radiohead's leaving out this HUGE gap story between the 1st and 2nd parts.
Much better than the Nude version. I listened to this in 2000 all the way from MO to CA when I picked up and moved myself west at the tender age of 20. Good times.
The final song "Nude" that they actually put on the album doesn't have any sexual references except the lyric "dirty mind" yet it's called "Nude". Listening to this early version, I finally see where that comes from. "She stands stark naked and beckons you to bed, don't go, you'll only want to come back, again."
I feel like the meaning shifted over time; in this version its meaning is very clearly literal, with the woman standing stark naked and such. However, I feel like in the final version ‘nude’ refers more to emotional vulnerability, or the absence of a facade covering your own feelings and aspirations, and hopelessness as to their actual realisation.
I’m not sure it IS literal. It can be whatever you want but should have. If Thom had a drug history it could be about heroin for example. Beckoning you, irresistible, but so bad for you. Like a poisonous woman you can’t resist. Maybe a slightly misogynistic image, but that’s how interpret it. It don’t particularly like the tune during that section, it clashes a bit, takes away energy from the build up to a climax, but the lyrics should have been kept in my opinion.
It's because you can actually picture the man along with the vocal. On In Rainbows it sounds beautiful, yet angelic and ethereal. This is like a vista of a man laid bare with an acoustic guitar talking about trauma from a position of experience/wisdom.
I just love how in the big corporate world people talk about extroverts and introverts blah blah blah. I always find many extroverts naïve and shallow when it comes to the arts. It's all hedonism and narcissism. This song could only come from the mind of someone who regularly has an inner dialogue about profound things. Yet, in the wider social realm only one or two fellows (if at all) would understand the real depths of this kind of mind-set. I suppose it is an example of the nature of polarity and the inversion of esteemed ideals.
this is an easy one. G#min - G# - A - E - C#min - B etc instead of doing whole bar chords sometimes let the B and high E ring out. but not always. or just do it how you want but that's the main progression.
the chorus chords are slightly different G#m A G#m A C#m C#m , also you can hammer on the sixth during the c#m at various points, and also i like to hammer the 9th during the A in the chorus sometimes
Sounds like the original but sped up (especially the chord progressions with vocals). I play it like- Verse 1: [G#m] Don't get any [G#] big ideas [A] They're [E] not gonna [C#m] happen [B] Verse 2: same structure until- [C#m]...Something missing [into B] And now that you found [G#m] it It's [A] gone Now that you feel [G#m] it you [A] don't You've gone off the rails [C#m][A] *Repeat verse 3 with [G#m, A, E, C#m, B] Chorus- [G#m] You'll go to Hell [G#] for what your [A] dirty [E] mind is [C#m] thinking. This is for the album lyrics tho. I really hope this helps!!
Thinking about what a fucking masterpiece of a composition this really is...very few things still make me sad i didnt write them but i sure thought that exactly at about second 3...and he woodshedding the thing for a decade? Well yah, cuz he's thom yorke and u just aren't...
The In Rainbows version is far better than the earlier versions. As much as I love the organ and xylophone in the original, the bassline on the in rainbows version along with tom's more delicate vocals really bring this song to the next level.
I've got to agree with you. Most of these earlier versions are still great and fun to listen to. But a big part of that is because we already love the final studio versions. These demos and early versions, though often amazing, clearly needed further guidance.
this is not an acoustic version...sounds like the same voice (or vocals...dont know how to call them) with and acoustic guittar...sounds good anyway i love this song
Imagine being in the audience and hearing this for the first time.
+Coffee12341 I'd wet myself and pass out.
+Coffee12341 it would be something unreal and fantastic. truly no words to describe

His voice like a sad violin
This version is incredible. You can hear everything, the despair in Thom's voice, he's able to find his strength in the weaknesses of the human mind and transforms it in music ... More than an inspiration, he is the voice of millions of people's darkness
😢
the vocalizing at 2:30 gets me every time :'^( his range is absolutely beautiful
Yes, very beautiful
Gives me peace
that vocal slip at 3:42 is like some microtonal experiment I love it
Lmao
Cheers, next time I sing off-key at choir practice I’ll make sure to let everyone know it’s just a microtonal experiment. ;D
Young Thom had such a beautiful vibrato in his voice. I never felt that the 2007 recording did justice to the early bootlegs.
He still has a powerful vibrato in his 50s. Have a listen to "these are my twisted words" solo version, Zermatt 2022
Wasn't True Love Waits made in 1995?
When listening to both renditions, I feel as if I shouldn't be comparing this to that of the In Rainbows studio version. Both of them are incredible. I like this version in times when I need a retrospective look at Radiohead and music itself.
I love In Rainbows to bits, but this version is so pure, so unadulterated. I really don't know which one I like more. Same with True Love Waits, I love the acoustic live versions
yeah men. exactly
I really don't like the in rainbows version. It sounds so boring compared to the earlier versions of the song.
This is the first version of this I heard I've been looking for it for ages! Bring back star ratings so I can give you a big ol 5

The lyric changes he made later were a lot more effective I think. Cool to hear this.
Don't get any big ideas

And now that you found it, it's gone
Now that you feel it, you don't

Thank you!
Your house, fill it up with noise
I tought that the Nude from the album version is the best song ever created, and know i just heard this, and, i was in shock. Can the best song ever wrote can have a better version ? And its so deep, i almost started to cry.
23rd of January 1998.
This version is too pure. Ahh i love this song
Best version. Can't stop listening to it.
I wish I could listen to them live :(
Holy shit this is so good. Words just don't...
LUNAPOD this is a the top kek sir
No Lie gave me goosebumps, Radiohead fan for life
This song has gone through so many changes . I absolutely love the second verse and even another version "she kisses you with tongue...". Also I like how Thom singing here
I heard this version on tour and loved it... Nude never quite sat quite right as I always missed the extra lyrics.
inmensa canción! .
ese álbum es una hermosa colección de canciones lindas.
I wish the album version would be as touching as that.
The album version is good.
But this leaves me speechless.
Man, 3:27 - 3:47 and especially the "thinking" part feels both like I'm being edged and satisfied in the same time.
What was I on about
@@kulfoa_1328lol
some real shit, that's what you were on about
How did I only find this now? Nude is my favourite song. I’m definitely not crying
Edit: it just started hailing and it fits so well, this is perfect
heard it ages ago in meeting people is easy.
+Lily Anne not this version

I love this so much..
I had this one in a rarities collection but the quality was not very good, and I spent years longing for something like this, thank you!
I'll be listening to Radiohead when the nukes drop.
Wow....
same.
If London burns, I'll be standing on the beach with my guitar.
When I get the 4 minute warning I know which one of their songs I’m gonna be listening to
4 Minute Warning...
Hope you are ready cause that seems closer every day man
cant believe this is live...just hear how quiet the audience is.....
Absolutely brilliant!
a jewel
this version is beatyful :3
Geni ❤👏
@003ralf003caster Yes, I think the extra verse wasn't necessary, the In Rainbows version is still my favorite: I love that backwards opening.
My favorite version
ah , i love this.
Amazing
I can't help but hear all of the missing instrumental parts from the final version.
la mejor banda su música es profunda los escucho a cada momento
Awesome band 👏👏👏👏
Much better than the Nude version. I listened to this in 2000 all the way from MO to CA when I picked up and moved myself west at the tender age of 20. Good times.
Remember hearing this when the bootleg came out, any later version definitely won't do justice to this OG
I love you Thom
wonderful...big ideas-nude is my favourite radiohead song
Save this and all productions before 2022 so we can know that is not an AI. Love this fkng version.
i love that they used this on in rainbows, they didnt use alot of old material on any records!

this is so much better than they album version
is it just me or is this version quite depressing (btw i really love it)
It's because you can actually picture the man along with the vocal. On In Rainbows it sounds beautiful, yet angelic and ethereal. This is like a vista of a man laid bare with an acoustic guitar talking about trauma from a position of experience/wisdom.
The IR cut still sounds kinda depressing.
I mean, it's kinda Radiohead's shtick.
Omg. Thank you
well, i do like the album version more. but this is great too. much more raw.
Its sounds like the naked version.
Listening to this under a stary night with dad along side

Everything is related to Radiohead :D
I cannot find good tabs for this version
Sounds like the original but sped up (especially the chord progressions with vocals). I play it like-
Verse 1:
[G#m] Don't get any [G#] big ideas
[A] They're [E] not gonna [C#m] happen [B]
Verse 2: same structure until-
[C#m]...Something missing [into B]
And now that you found [G#m] it
It's [A] gone
Now that you feel [G#m] it you [A] don't
You've gone off the rails [C#m][A]
*Repeat verse 3 with [G#m, A, E, C#m, B]
Chorus-
[G#m] You'll go to Hell
[G#] for what your [A] dirty [E] mind
is [C#m] thinking.
This is for the album lyrics tho. I really hope this helps!!
How do u not like this song
I don't think it is the same as the studio. I think that that is what your applying it is. It sounds similar but not the same i would say
1998 i believe is when the song debuted, so most likely that, or 97.
@DarkSwordlessLink66 heard that too, i think it's 'house.'

@RobBrooksMusic Thom has questioned the very same thing himself. And he isn't very happy with what he elucidated.
I know it´s been a long time since you wrote this comment. But what was it that Thom himself has questioned. the InRainbows version..?
Cómo volver a escuchar la original
Why do I hear "You paint your ass white"?
Why do you think that? Just curious.

It was written during the tour following OKC. It worked really well on In Rainbows anyway.
