    Hi Julia, just recently found your site, thanks so much for doing all this for us adult beginners, much appreciated. I am starting to learn 3rd position and was confused about why and how to choose when to play in 3rd position, or any other position for that matter, until I looked at your other video. I have a question: when playing in an orchestra, who decides which position is played in a piece of classical music, is it the director, 1st violinist, or is the choice down to the individual violinist? Also, who decides which bow strokes to use as violinists all play in the same direction as each other. Thanks for any explanation you can give. I am a left-handed fiddle player so I guess getting into an orchestra would be difficult🤣

    • @Violinspiration
      @Violinspiration  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The concert master decides the complicated bowing and fingerings when playing in an orchestra. And yes, unfortunately it would be very difficult to be in an orchestra playing left-handed for the reason you mentioned. You would hitting the other violin players with your bow by playing in the other direction. 😂

    I have a small doubt ... how are C# & D new on the 3rd position as on A string in 1st position, 2nd and 3rd fingers are C# & D right?? I feel I am asking a pretty noob-ish question but genuinely please clarify :)

    • @Violinspiration
      @Violinspiration  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is not a noobish question. But that is incorrect. In the third position, your first finger goes where your 3rd finger would be. So on A, that would be fisrt finger on D, The second finger is then on E, the 3rd of F or F#, then the 4th on G. You can download all the fingerings by using the link under the post.

      @@Violinspiration Sorry I think I couldn't explain well, I meant in the " 1st Position " on the A string 2nd and 3rd fingers are C# & D right ? Then how is C# and D unique for " 3rd Position" 's 3rd and 4th finger ? Or simply put
      kindly help me understand how are the 2 notes C# & D unique in the 3rd position from the 1st position ?
      as I think these two notes also exist in 1st position but on a lower octave?
      PS: Online learning isn't as simple ... :P
