    Do you need an internet connection purely to download the QR code and/or activation code, or does it need to have a strong internet connection because it downloads something during the "installation" phase?
    I had been thinking of requesting the activation code during my layover in an American airport and pasting the code into my Notes app so that I could do the install at Haneda without trying to connect to airport WiFi first. Sounds like I should hold off until I've connected to the airport WiFi.

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, glad it's helpful :) Excellent question. It needs a strong consistent connection as during the activation your phone will be communicating with the carrier in order to 'activate' your eSIM. This is why WiFi is recommended since it will have a better chance for a strong consistent connection especially when you are traveling. I hope this helps. Let us know!

    Excellent video it answered the questions I had. We will be in Japan April ‘24 on Diamond Princess visiting 7 port cities. Any suggestions for tour companies or must do things. Aomori, Sakata, Kanazawa, Sakaiminato, Busan S. Korea, Kagoshima, Shimizu. Also, maybe video from Yokohama to Hakone. I’ve watched the Hakone video multiple times but it’s confusing since we will not be in Tokyo

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, glad it answered your questions :) If you can provide more information about your interests we can make more suggestions. We have a lot more videos coming too :)
      Getting from Yokohama to Hakone, you have a couple of options. The fastest way is to purchase a shinkansen ticket from Shin-Yokohama station to Odawara Station. From Odawara you can purchase the Hakone Free Pass which will take you to Hakone and then you can do the loop or spend a couple of days there as explained in our Hakone videos.

    Very helpful walk thru installation! When you change countries, do you suggest turning off primary? Or do you leave it/both on?

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, glad it's helpful! I personally always leave my primary on ( both on ) since I use that number to receive texts from home country. However, this is really up to you, if you don't need your primary then you can disable it. If you leave it on, just make sure to have data switching turned off.

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, yes you should be able to buy more than one on the same account since each have their own activation codes, but it might depend on carrier so I suggest contacting the carrier to be sure.

    Thanks for the video, do I need to remove my original physical sim after installing esim? As I’m afraid will be charged from my original local carriers the international charge.

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest  หลายเดือนก่อน

      HI, while you can remove your SIM, you don't need to remove your physical SIM. Instead, you can disable it from your under your cellular data preferences.

  • @tvp2003
    @tvp2003 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I see under the esim link there is a “open photos” option. Are you able to have a screenshot of the QR code and just use that?

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a good question which I don't have a definite answer for. As long as your phone is able to recognize the QR code then it will work. Otherwise, you are going to need another device to display the code to scan into your phone where you will be activating the eSIM. You can opt to manually install by the activation code.

    Thanks for this video. We have android, is turning off Data Roaming the equivalent of turning off Data Switching? Would it be better to just disable the home sim and leave the e-sim on for the duration of visit? Thank you.

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi, great question. They are not the same. Data roaming allows you to connect to networks outsite of your coverage area. So you want your eSIM that you purchase for traveling abroad to have this turned on. However, if you also wanted to have your home carrier work abroad you will again want this on because your home carrier will need to use the network abroad in order to work.
      Data switching on the other hand is just the ability for you to switch between profiles. So if you have your mobile eSIM/SIM enabled and your international eSIM on at the same time, if you have data switching turned on then if your international eSIM cannot get a good connection it might switch to your home carrier. So if you don't ever want to use your home carrier for data but still want to use your home carrier to receive phone calls then definitely turn off data switching. You can also turn off roaming for your home carrier and that will effectively stop it from connecting to any network abroad and therefore it wont use any data and you won't be able to use it to make/receive calls nor SMS.
      In your case, you can certainly just disable your home SIM if your phone allows it.

      @@KenshoQuest Hello, Thank you. We want to just be able to use mobile data from the eSim that we got for traveling. Seems for Android users, we need to enable Data Roaming and Mobile Data on the eSim for traveling and disable the home sim to avoid those costly charges.
      Thanks

    I am going to travel to Japan on this coming Thurs. I have purchased mobal esim just now. Should I activate esim now before my departure from my home country, or should I activate after my arrival to Japan? What will be your advice?

      Hi, thanks for watching :)
      Regarding your question, if you are going to Japan then YES it is okay. With Airalo, It actually depends on which country you will be visiting. If you are not going to Japan then please check the details of the plan you are going to purchase. It will either say something like, "your plan starts as soon as you connect to a network" or "as soon as you activate."
      I hope this helps.

    In what instance(s) does the "Primary" option needs to be turned OFF? Does "Primary" need to be ON while using Ubigi eSIM exclusively for internet access and other communication apps (such as WhatsApp, Line, etc)?

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, your primary doesn't need to be on. If you do choose to leave it on, just turn off 'Data Switching' - this is to prevent your primary from accidentally using data. What we do is leave it on for SMS only since we use google fi and have our Japan eSIM on for data.

    Quick question about Ubigi. I plan on buying the 30 day plan for Japan. But could I activate it in the US before I travel to Japan. Then turn on airplane mode while I fly until I land in Tokyo. Or could I turn it on once I land in country. Also should I turn off my T-Mobile data while Ubigi is on?

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, you won't be able to fully activate your Ubigi until arrival in Japan since it won't be able to connect to the Japanese network. But you can start the process. And yes, turn off T-Mobile and/or disable data switching so it won't use your T-mobile data.
