You’re the only guy that said, don’t buy my presets, create your own, develop a style. And this is why I love coming back to your videos! You genuinely want us to do better at this stuff, thank you for that!
Your integrity is much appreciated Nigel. So many TH-cam photographers are selling Presets now (some for crazy amounts of money) but for you to say you wouldn't buy yours because we should develop our own raises the bar on integrity and trust. I always figured I was pretty advanced as a Lightroom user but I'd no idea about holding down the shift key to paint in straight lines! I could have saved a lot of time if I'd known that a few years ago. Thank you!!
Yes I remember Nick Page saying in a video it's better to create your own presets than buy them. I think he said the only reason to but them would be if there was a style you particularly liked you could then see how it had been put together and tweak it as you liked. Hats off to Nigel.
I’ve been using Lightroom for quite some time and never realised you can fine tune a gradient mask with brushes. You have just changed my future workflow. Thank you!
Wow, I'm going to save and keep going back to this video for months to come. So helpful, you explain so clearly and in just the right amount of detail. THE best photographer on this platform. Love all your videos. Thank you for all your help.
Every time I watch these Lr tips videos from you, I learn so many new things & completely change my editing process! This one was jam packed! Thanks for sharing, Nigel! 🤙🏽
When it comes to editing your photos, using Lightroom and Photoshop can be a daunting prospect, there's so much you can change and spoil! Tips like these are what we SHOULD know and I will be attempting to remember them in the coming days and weeks! Thank you Nigel
Hey Nigel... Just to let you know that I absolutely LOVE this video. So much so that I keep going back to it, and consider this, as well as a few others, as a reference tool and not just a video!! I think that this is one of the best you've ever produced! Especially for those of us who are needing, and wanting, to improve our editing skills! THANKS A MILLION!!
Excellent tutorial as usual Nigel. I follow every tutorial of yours re. Lightroom. You certainly show us the real details of how to do it and it makes a BIG difference for me. Thank you very much.
You are so real Thank you. I love how you focus on creating your own look .Not over processed bought pre sets. I have learned so much from you .Thank you.
Your videos making me as a good photographer. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I am keenly watching most of your videos and valuable tips. Thank you once again..
You set a high standard in providing truly useful info to ordinary people who want to create better photos. Much appreciate the digestible explanation of the new color grading. Also, the use of the range mask to change the hue of a specific color--cool stuff.
I began photography with film and darkroom and left it with the onset of digital and photoshop. You have taught me that the same techniques I did in the darkroom are those in LR. THANK YOU for bringing me back to photography.
After using Lighroom for many years this video gave me some great tips and motivated me finally to organize my presets / brush presets. Thanks for that!
Hi Nigel, I use masks all the time, but missed then trick about using the Erase Brush Tool at the same time to remove the areas, like tops of mountains, you don't want to be effected. Top Tip! While I'm here, just like to say that my copy of the Vistas arrived yesterday. I have to say after looking at images on screens for so long you forget how impressive the printed page is! You look forward to each turn of the page is and what you might encounter next. I believe we still we need the tactile connection that books have to offer over the backlit world of screens we live in. I have many books on photography and photographers but not many exclusively put together by the photographer themselves. That changed last year when I bought Charlie Waite’s ‘Behind The Photograph’ after attending a talk of his in London. I was sorry to have missed your first edition of Vistas, so was glad when you did a second run. It is truly beautiful. Love the design, layout and typography as well as the stories accompanying the photographs. I am savouring the moments and restricting myself to viewing only a few pages each day at a time to make the experience last . I was lucky enough to get a commendation from LPOTY this year in the Urban Life category and get the image published in this year’s book. What a great feeling that was, so to have a whole book litho printed professionally in a large volume must be a thrill and fill you with pride. I certainly have been spurred on with my photography after my small achievement. I’ve been following you since your first TH-cam vid and watched you and your photography develop. I enjoy all the vids, the tips, and your philosophies, and enjoyed the Nikon webinar you did recently. So keep up the good work and I just want to say thanks to you from me and, on behalf of all your subscribers, for all the great work that you share with us each week. Take care and stay safe. Cheers, Ray.
Great tips! Syncing between LR at home and LR on mobile is great. Nothing better than arriving at home and already have your "picks" selected and some edits started.
Brilliant video Nigel. I got so much from this and thanks for being truthful about the presets. Each picture tells a different story so can't always use presets, but as you said they can help you create your own style.
thank you so much for another sunday video. As a long time lightroom user, i still learned a lot from this, especially shortcuts. looking forward to next sunday :) have a great week.
Great Video! I saved it to watch it again! I'll have to make some brush presets, I didn't know I could. I am not very good at local adjustments, I'm trying to learn more. I just found your channel and have been watching a bunch of your videos, they are very informative. I also like your photos!
Great video and great tips (I good bit I did not know of). Thank you 😊 On the colour grading, you can also click on the top part of the menu to adjust just the shadows (or the mid tones or highlights) and you get just one (bigger) colour wheel as well as sliders for hue and saturation (you can also type in the values (as by any slider)).
Thank you Nigel, I'm very new to Lightroom, and must say this helped a lot, as you always do. There are so many things i need to lean with Lightroom...every little bit helps, now ill practice those that you shared today.
Nigel, in order to see the difference of before and after when brushing or any other effect you can hit that button on the bottom left of that panel left to the Reset button
Thank you ND, just getting to grips with Lightroom, so very helpful and perfect timing. Your videos and tutorials give a confidence to me to go and try things out. Now getting so much more out of my photography, thank you.
That shift+Click shortcut for straight lines is always worth mentioning. I used to move my mouse against the edge of a book just to make a straight brush stroke. So funny!
You’re the only guy that said, don’t buy my presets, create your own, develop a style. And this is why I love coming back to your videos! You genuinely want us to do better at this stuff, thank you for that!
entirely agree with this and Nigels comments
Couldn’t agree more👍
yes, and because of it I even watch every single commercial on Nigel's channel to hep him gain some cash from youtube ;)
Respect!

Thanks Paul

Fantastically useful. So many of these videos stick to the obvious stuff. Must of this was new to me and really helpful 😀
I rarely have time to comment but have to say I found this really engaging and informative. Even as a regular LR user I learned so much. Well done!

Great, thank you for your help & advice, very informative👍
Great tips! Syncing between LR at home and LR on mobile is great. Nothing better than arriving at home and already have your "picks" selected and some edits started.
Incredibly helpful. I’ve saved this for review. Thanks very much!
I'm pleased to see I'm not the only one who uses a book as a monitor riser. A ream of paper works quite well too.
Great presentation as always, very informative. Will be trying each of these tips.
that graduated filter trick was awesome. never knew that. thank you. cant wait to test it out
So useful. Thanks for making it easy to learn.
Brilliant video Nigel. I got so much from this and thanks for being truthful about the presets. Each picture tells a different story so can't always use presets, but as you said they can help you create your own style.

Great video, man! Going over the new color grading was very helpful; I had no idea about the “control” and “shift” fine-tuning. Have a great week!

As always a good infomative video...Many thanks..
I'm already amazed by Lightroom, I've been using it since a month now though. And you answered all my questions I had so far, thank you sir.
I am a simple photographer if I see the notification from Nigel Danson....I press LIKE within 2 seconds then read the title of the video.
I do the same Kush ..I think it’s respectful and also I know it will always be very informative ..
Great tip on using the graduated filter.
