I used to frequent a Denny's near me. For breakfast only though. This Denny's had 3 career waitresses that knew how to be a waitress. They all worked the breakfast hours. When dining alone, I would take a seat at the counter. Quickly asked for a beverage order and do I know what I want or need a minute to look over the menu. Once my order was in, it was quickly prepared and brought to me. I never was disappointed with my food. Service was top notch. I would not call Denny's cheap eats, but certainly a good value for the food and service. Using frozen potatoes for hash browns is nothing new in the restaurant industry. As you pointed out, it is very labor intensive to make shredded hash from fresh potatoes. I have tried to make them at home. They do not come out right for me. The shredding is easy enough. But the squeezing, browning of the taters are challenges that I can't seem to over come. If I want shredded hash, I get a bag of Mr. Dell's shredded. Usually though, I decide on diced hash browns which are much easier to prepare at home.
I wish this channel would stop with the false titles. Denny's is not cheap. It is not out of line compared to other similar places though. A full breakfast of 2 eggs, 2 bacon, hash and toast is going to cost $10.00 or so, plus beverage, tax and tip. $15.00 or so total. Not cheap to me. I just looked at their website for the location near me. No breakfast under $11.00. Though you get a bit more than what I described as a full breakfast.

Here's the truth about all this on this( I've worked and cooked in restaurants bars pubs diners nursing homes hospitals and including Denny's ) every one of them has access to the same amount of fresh ingredients and shelf-stable ingredients weather for emergencies in case they run out on the fly or in case of power failure. The only constant fresh ingredients that any establishment will be able to maintain will always be the big ticket items that sell everyday all day basically no matter what but other items that sell here in there with constant staff shortages based upon people showing up late all the time not having enough people there not having enough people doing the work prepping up all that stuff from scratch fresh everyday is not easy work.😓

I have 2 bottles from them, that I fill with
my own Maple Syrup, to take to other
places. Real Maple syrup is a bit too
thin for me. Amazon sells Maple Sugar,
which is Maple Syrup, with ALL the water
removed. I thicken mine up, with this
sugar. Add a couple tablespoons to a
quart of syrup, and heat it up. REAL Real
    Maple syrup.

If this narrator was trying to slam Denny's, I'd say it was a big fail. The pre-mixed items are just that, mixed ahead of time so they can be quickly presented to their hundreds of customers who can't afford to eat at the restaurants where chefs have to be paid a whole lot more than short-order cooks for taking the time to cut all the vegetables, etc.

Our local Denny's (Brooklyn IA) really needs some attention, it's basically a trucker trap in the middle of nowhere, the service is terrible, and to use the restroom, like to wash your hands from syrup, you have to go into the convenience store proper through doors to exit the store. Their Coronavirus measures when the state first enacted them, were blatant disregard of state order, back of the house visible maskless personnel through the pass through window. Usually you may order extra butter with your pancakes, by thevtime you get your butter add-on, your pancakes are cold and need to be remade. The staff is careless at speed to deliver from the ready window, even when there are more servers that seated tables. It's also likely Dennys doesn't offer a dental plan, like Waffle House, the servers could use one.
My Dennys won't deliver 3.9 miles away although it's constantly sending free delivery emails. Who are they delivering to, the truck stops or the motel and that's it?
When I lived in Kansas City area we had a few good Dennys and a few to stay away from, when visiting my mother, there was a Dennys but it closed, now it's more than 10 miles to one additional travel.
In Iowa we don't have a lot of alternatives, IHOP near Iowa city, food was cold, so was the restaurant, server stayed invisible once the plate was served. Perkins was closed 2-3 years, but signs on billboards say late next month it will reopen.
I checked the app for TV specials and email specials, nothing even similar, most items start at $10 or more for breakfast. I guess the AARP discount was too harsh on the books so they jacked up the price to absorb it, and it wasn't show your card, it was scanned for validity.
