Tried on 22/01/2022 on Switch. it does work. It's just a bit slower. Buttons are Y and X. Just keep pressing them at the same time or one after the other and it will eventually work. :)
This duplication glitch also works at the fish/knight badge exchange counters, and when you purchase a Counter (Def +7) from Best Brothers furniture, you can place that inside or even outside (no defense perk outside) your home, open it, and duplicate right there

Non-Tl;Dr speculation - Given that the dev team moved on to another game already and the dupe happens with an inventory management aspect of the interface, I believe that if the dev team actually wanted to patch it, they'd end up having to rebuild the inventory management systems from the ground up... That's speculation, but, it's based off knowing that it has to do with an integral system that's at the depths of the game, and I don't think they'd be wanting to tear apart a game they already finished to fix this, especially since it's on multiple platforms.
I've found when duplicating if it's under 999 you can sort inventory and it doesn't mess up the numbers. I've made a new Portia save (I use switch btw) and just trying to get everything fast, Im already buddys with a lot of people and the full land expansion and I'm month 1 day 16 🤣
Haha nice! I had completed everything by the time I found that cheat. I think normally, I was at 5 years in game? Maybe? Did a new save like you did and matter of months I was fully expanded, full friendships, ect. Glad it works for the Switch! ^_^

Did you reload the game after sleeping? If you don't, it won't count as actual items. All stacks will act equally. Sleeping and then after the new day starts, close the game and then reload it. Everything should remain.
I noticed sometimes hitting square (or it's equivalent) first when pressing both square and triangle will trigger it. It can only be done at the markets

Just be careful not to accidentally sell the item you duplicated because then you lose all of the duplicated items. Just happened to me. Accidentally sold a bronze plate and the duplications were zero 🥴
I'm hearing mix things for the pc. You have to be using a controller to make it work and it the combo can be tricky. Sometimes I have to press the buttons a few times to get it to work.

i use this hack on those dishes like Ocean's Fortune, get like 300 of the dish as it increases attack, and just PLOW through enemies by month 2 lol.
I’m not sure if it’s the same for other consoles but I assume it is, you can go to a bookshelf and do the glitch. I used a large bookshelf for mine.

Hey just needed to check something with you! Whenever i sell my duped stack. It deleted the one on my stash too!!! Any help?
That is when you need to sleep and the close the game after it saves. When you log back in, it will count each stack individually.

@Lilah iirc its called Portia helper or some sort, you can get 100x gold multiplier. Can also spawn any items in the game, even the removed one

Its been in the game since the start of 2020 (that I know of) and no updates since so I doubt it.
Also, just finished watching her explanation of this, you dont have to sleep, just put the items in a chest and your good.
