8:57 "russian roulette" those skinny tires are nice to glide through the mud but once you lose that momentum they act like pizza cutters compared to tires a bit wider. obviously there are more factors at play, but you get the point...

Fascinated by all these lovely constructions I wonder when they finally start to use portal axles, or are they prohibited by the rules? It is obvious that these mud buggers often stop when their live axles sink into the mud, acting like bulldozer shields....
The black truck was actually using a type of portal axle. But I agree portals would be beneficial if they can hold up

Portal axels don’t hold up. Plus very expensive in the states. You can build them to hold up but a lot of these trucks wheee built for less than the price of a pair.
@@buckbundy8642 if you are still there look up m 125 m truck came from the factory with portals and a 868 cubic inch Cummings v8 diesel 10 ton winch with a ton of cable . the portals are very different bevel gears extremely hard to find been looking for over a year
