Eli, the bald rock tenor, has been lead in several rock bands throughout his career, so he has that power, intensity and delivery in his voice that this song requires.
Yes, can’t wait to see you react to more Voiceplay! Everything they have done is amazing. You might also like Seven Nation Army, Creep & In the Air Tonight.
I don't know a lot of the music that Voiceplay does. I'm very old so, there's that. It doesn't make any difference, they are outstanding! Thanx for sticking with them! When Covid shut the world down and Voiceplay had to stop touring, Geoff Castellucci (the bass) started doing solo work on his own channel. His version of 16 Tons was the gateway for me.
You'll see slightly different lineups in different videos. Voiceplay is currently down a member. J.None (sat next to the bass, Geoff, in the last one) left for the Navy and rejoins them when his leaves allow. So they fill their 5th spot in with various collaborators.
This was videoed inside the abandoned Leesburg High School in Leesburg FL. Geoff said it was in Elis' old neighborhood. Their BTS video gave us a tour of the building. Eli said it had also been used in a horror film. They find the most interesting places to video that fit any song. The advantages of being totally independent to do what they want. Anything from VoicePlays' and Geoffs' channels.
I was in high school when this song first came out. Saw Aerosmith in concert a few times back then. And I really never quite got the emotional impact of the lyrics until this cover. VoicePlay just is phenomenal at getting the meaning across!
Great reaction! The Warriors vid on the exit screen is part one of a post apocalyptic trilogy, Dream On is part two and the third being 7 Nation Army. They have almost 12 years of videos on their channel you couldn't pick a bad one...some weird ones, but most any genre you could think of ACA Top 10s most of those live one takes, Disney to video game themes. Their mashups and medleys are phenomenal.
Great reaction to a great song covered by a GREAT group. 🙂 I Love their ways of covering a song respecting it a lot, enough to maintain the feeling of it and have it recognised, and at the same time putting a whole new spin, THEIR spin, on it. 🙂 Just subscribed in anticipation for more of them. But don't forget that Geoff, the bass singer, has a channel of his own, and believe me, it's totally worth to explore it as well 😇. Maybe starting from "Ain't no sunshine", or "Sound of silence", or "Folsom prison blues", or the Hobbit pair, "Far over the Misty Mountain's cold" and "I see fire"... Or whatever else. As with Voiceplay. they're all good! 😁 See you next time!
VoicePlay has done an apocalyptic trilogy - Warriors (Imagine Dragons), Dream On you just did, Seven Nation Army (White Stripes); In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Creep, Drunken Sailor, I Can't Make You Love Me.
I think others have said it, but that’s Eli you’re digging. Eli gives me physical chills on a regular basis; I love when he cuts loose. Yes, Tennessee Whiskey is worth your time. The most amazing vocal run I’ve ever heard is in that track. If you want to hear Eli get filthy, then you want their covers of Seven Nation Army or Valhalla Calling. Don’t know if anyone wise said this, but Eli is short for Eliezer, and it’s pronounced like “jelly” without the J. 😊
Cesar, Eli, and Omar can ALL hit that high note, but Cesar wanted it - so he got it.

Don't miss their medley, Queen in 5 minutes!

Good One... Hoist The Colours!
Loved the reaction! This one still gets me and I've heard it quite a bit (downloaded it).
Trust VoicePlay to put emotion into a song that didn't really have any..
