The numbers it spits out is the same whether it's me vs my 2 drunk uncles playing a $2 tourney or Me facing a raise vs Greg Raymer with Phil Ivey to my Left...

Coaching live on rail is ridiculous. Griff imo did punt that final hand though which was the decider basically. I don’t think the coaching had any effect here, but I think live coaching is a bad look for the game.
He made a few punts Q4 off on a AK high board if he played proper he probably takes it down same the Astedt he should've folded that KJ he wouldve had 40 bigs and a massive skill advantage no reason to take such a risky spot

Exactly 💯. If we're going to call poker a "sport"...then we need to call chess a sport because chess takes wayyyy more skill. Anyone can get lucky in poker on a given day and beat Phil Ivey. But in Chess, no random player is ever going to beat Magnus.
This is the whole "are video games art?" debate in a different form. Who cares? Are poker players really that insecure that in a roundabout way they want to call themselves athletes? I think poker is not a sport and that does not make it less of a pursuit.

Dude may have been given Joe's airpod but he may have thought it was the one he knew Tamoyo was wearing and thats why he looks like he was just handed a brick of coke.
Apparently there was an announcement before every tournament that devices with solvers onscreen were ONLY allowed OUTSIDE the tournament area and on breaks. So yes, there IS a rule against using solvers between hands.
It doesn't matter if you need help or not, it's against the rules to use solvers. There is a clear picture of the laptop screen, it wasn't replaying hands, it was solving. I don't think you should make a video if you yourself don't know the rules. This was a clear rule violation.
1. There is literally no evidence that they were talking about solver outputs. 2. Even if they were, any actual solver studied professional poker player would tell you that if anything its likely negative EV here to try to implement solver outputs when facing a loose aggro rec such as Griff 3. If they are just telling him hand histories from this event then it isn't against the rules. I would also argue it shouldn't be against the rules as both players and rails have access to the livestream. You also cant stop someone from verbally communicating that information. Sure you can implement a rule saying no showing screen displayed information to the players if you want. This is such a nothing burger for anyone actually well studied in solver outputs.
If these hardcore pros thought that what they were doing is negative EV, WHY arevthey doing it? Also, 0:39 Pause on this image and zoom in on Tamayo's right ear, (your left) you can clearly see the stem of an airpod. And he doesn't usually wear a hoodie, is my understanding.
In tennis (the closet scenario I can think of with this), the player can have brief words or physical queues with their coach but not full on strategy sessions. That's one of the things I like about tennis, it's one man using his training and experience to overcome his opponent during the match. I think poker should be the same. A coach can signal the player to implement a pre-planned strategy from afar but not have a full, up close conversation. That steals the "magic" from the game.
I was on the rail and that's a bunch of crap!! There's no cheating!! I'm standing just to the right of that view by the TV Camera and they're watching the stream that was allowed..
Your argument of "why didnt the recreational player get his own help?" is ridiculous! NOBODY should be allowed help during the game. Poker isn't a team sport!
WSOP stated verbally that there should be no solvers…or you would be possibly disqualified from the tournament…how they allowed a computer at the rail and it was clear that solvers were probably used inbetween hands…
I mean every player has their coach on the rail, that's fine, they provide them with basic information they've noticed, what they don't do is pull up a laptop with a solver 😂
Poker is not a TEAM sport! Why not hire 30 coaches including a body behavior analyst to help with physical tells. Just crazy poker should be individual vs individual. No coaching from the rail during the game. Just like you can only have access to your phone on breaks, you should only be able to talk to the rail on official breaks and no solvers/laptops allowed in the audience. Griff did have time to hire a coach, but poker shouldn’t be my army vs your army.
The next step is, ALL the players run back & forth to the rail to watch a laptop solver during EVERY hand. All 10k people. Every Hand. What could possibly go wrong.
I disagree. If Tamayo had played Lena HU and was checking a solver after each hand, i think people would have been equally outraged but it wasn't just for HU, it was the fact Tamayo was checking the laptop throughout the final table in every hand he was involved in.
There was an announcement at the start of the WSOP... "No solvers or sims can be used....... AND there is a pic from the rail side where you can see what was on the computer, it was a sim!
A solver helps with overal gameplay much more than any single hand or 10 hand group... Its like having the best football strategy in senerios within the rules, your current score, and time remaining... It doesn't give you a For Sure first down play... It doesn't consider the previous 20 minutes, your personal, or your opponent's personel... It also considers you to execute... what does that mean in poker... Not giving off tells or being exploited.
Alex.. You spoke a lot but didn't say much... The main points here are 1) Griff had the option to confer with coaches in real-time, and he didn't. 2) People are complaining as if Tamayo was getting real-time information on hands not yet played. He wasn't. He was getting information on hands THAT ALREADY HAPPENED.
To help eliminate controversy like at WSOP main FT, why not have RTA optional events or even RTA ONLY events w/strict simple time clock procedures, Street Poker vs. Wizards type thing or ALL wizards?
I've been playing NLH for over 20 years and have seen the insidious way phones and computers have perverted the game. I absolutely agree that all electronic devices should be banned from the poker room, there should be no contact with the rail while play is ongoing, and masks, sunglasses, scarfs and hoodies should be banned. I realise that sounds really extreme, but steps have to be taken to return the game to one of skill, not data-crunching!!!
Oh please...the poker casuals that are shocked and disgusted by this makes me puke. Tamayo and his ilk are professional gamblers! They will do whatever it takes to find that edge or game the system...its part of their DNA. The fault lies with the WSOP organizers...they should have banned/stopped the "cheating" from the start. I'm sure there will be rules announcement for next year at WSOP main event final table...banning laptops, earbuds, etc. with severe penalties for violation.
Poker is a human game of skill with a certain amount of luck therefore no other aid, or assist should be aloud. This game is player against player, and ones own skill should be the only decision maker, not a machine of any kind, or another human! Also, players should not be allowed to leave the table mid hand to talk with anyone! These are very basic, obvious, fair rules that should be followed at all tables whether a tourney, or cash game.👍😎✌🗽
If poker is a game of skill then it should be a battle of 2 individuals fighting for first place not having a back up team giving you in real time info. You should be making decisions based on the data you collect at the table not away from it.
It's fine if they decide to make this against the rules going forward. However, I'm not a fan of retroactive punishment, if it wasn't clearly stated in the rules and explained to players that this is not allowed, then you can't punish the player for finding ways to get an edge. This is how it always works with anything, smart competitors will find ways to gain an advantage over others within the confines of the current rules. Once it is discovered and decided upon by the community and/or entity in charge of setting and enforcing these rules that it is unfair, THEN it becomes banned within the rules. Unprecedented techniques/practices/ideas etc... set the new precedents.
If people want to get up in arms with Tomayo then they need to also get pissed at all the other pros at final tables all summer long who had coaches with laptops on the rail. Nobody said anything to Kristen Foxen who also had a coach on the rail with a laptop in plain view.
this type stuff they shouldn't be allowed. it's supposed to be a game of the players against each other with whatever knowledge of the game they have prior to sitting down. i think running sims right after the hand is really unfair.
theyd make bad moves sometimes, even with solver, but theyd never do a dumb move. i dont play poker, but this takes out the human factor of why we watch real people instead of just bots at a table.
I think in future events, all players must be able to endure William Kassouf's speech play to win the main event. Say what you want about that annoying Brit, but I would take him over what's happening this year. Bring back the psychological aspect of the game!
Doug Polk posted an audio clip where she specifically says no to all he did. So yes it was announced. He is not a winner but a dude that wasn’t charged w the rule he broke and used help to win. He will never have the respect the greats have.
It’s fucking ridiculous they allow this, at any point, let alone the final fuvking heads up match in the biggest poker event on the planet. It is insane that it is allowed.
3 people with a solver evaluating an opponents hand plays and using predictive solvers to adjust betting ranges accordingly is absolutely a disgusting, unsportsmanlike, situation. If you really think this is a sport, then letting the players demonstrate their capabilities is the most sportsmanlike behavior. At what point do you stop this behavior if you allow it in the final table. Do you allow coaches from day one, where everybody can have a coach watching over them and instead of 10,000 people in a room you now have 20,000?
I mean, it comes down to whether players are supposed to be getting outside help or not. If this is allowed, welcome to the era of players hitting the rail for solver data every time it’s useful.
It’s not cheating, but it should be frowned upon going forward. I think they should also have the spectators back, and a section above the players at on main stage. Preventing players from touching spectators and talking to them close and personal. Good win though, you can’t take that away from him, getting through that isn’t easy at all, and real player knows that. Congrats tomayo 8/3
Im in the school of thought that says no aids of any kind. No friends coaching you, no laptops or tablets on the rail going over anything. Just sit down and play. Also, shame on you alex for the clickbait title. You're better than that.
Pro's should be fuckin embarrassed. Need a whole crew and a computer running solvers to defeat an amateur player. Horrendous look for poker. Pathetic that WSOP couldn't put a stop to this immediately. like what the hell

I think the players should not be able to be so close to the rail where they can touch them.
0:39 Pause on this image and zoom in on Tamayo's right ear, (your left) you can clearly see the stem of an airpod (trying to be hidden by the hoodie.) Dude may have been given Joe's airpod but he may have thought it was the one he knew Tamoyo was wearing and thats why he looks like he was just handed a brick of coke.
There is no rules saying he can't use solver after the hand. An hour later. So its perfectly legal.
Apparently there was an announcement before every tournament that devices with solvers onscreen were ONLY allowed OUTSIDE the tournament area and on breaks. So yes, there IS a rule against using solvers between hands.
If this continues rec players will have no chance.
@@pokergodyoutubethen have someone up there
The Doug Polk footage on his coverage clearly shows solvers etc so yes, they did cheat. They weren't only watching the stream.
@@mrlenejo no they didn't. It's not against the rules
It maybe be against Nevada Gambling laws.
The WSOP tried to avoid controversy by not enforcing their own rules, and it did nothing but create way more controversy
The issue is not fairness...!!! It is about violation of the Tournament Rules....LOL
Don't like players getting any outside help at anytime shouldn't be able to leave the table .
It was announced at beginning of tournament no solvers or sims to be used in between hands… guy should lose bracelet
""EH PIH TOHM"???
Come on, man..
lmfao
Should "coaching" on the rail be allowed at the WSOP?
hear me out - no
I mean every player has their coach on the rail, that's fine, they provide them with basic information they've noticed, what they don't do is pull up a laptop with a solver 😂
@@32roho Now we’re talking
No
The next step is, ALL the players run back & forth to the rail to watch a laptop solver during EVERY hand. All 10k people. Every Hand.
What could possibly go wrong.
mis-pronouncing epitome generates comments and puts your videos at the top. Great work! :D
AND there is a pic from the rail side where you can see what was on the computer, it was a sim!
everyone should have a solver in the table, this is the future of poker
I ain’t kool with it
To help eliminate controversy like at WSOP main FT, why not have RTA optional events or even RTA ONLY events w/strict simple time clock procedures, Street Poker vs. Wizards type thing or ALL wizards?
“Epitome”😂😂😂😂
I can compare this like a gladiator fight. Where one side supporting and the other supporting and handing the gladiator weapons.
People have been getting coach over 10 years now; for final table in main event.
Its not a team game so shouldnt be allowed to be coached mid game.
He wasn't getting RTA. The stream was on a 1 hr delay, so he wasn't getting feedback until at least an hour after a hand happened.
The announcement of not using solvers before the tournament was clear. The rules are clear.
It’s against the spirit of the game and such activity should be banned. They shouldn’t have allowed this in the first place, what a joke.
Enjoyed the content as always, thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Ban leaving the table and communicating with the rail beyond cheering.
theyd make bad moves sometimes, even with solver, but theyd never do a dumb move. i dont play poker, but this takes out the human factor of why we watch real people instead of just bots at a table.
Poker is an individual sport. Period.
Bottom line for THIS year’s event, as you said, “…it’s not against the rules”(computers on the rail). So logically it wasn’t cheating.
It's against the laws of the state though...
Lol looks like plain ol cheating to me.
It’s fucking ridiculous they allow this, at any point, let alone the final fuvking heads up match in the biggest poker event on the planet. It is insane that it is allowed.
Yeah. I thought this was bizarre. People were told they couldn’t have their phones on their rail the day before. I thought this was shady as well
Obviously no computers on the rail! How is this even a question?
Sh*t has to not only be fair, but be seen to be fair.
Mind-boggling how some doesn't view this as cheating. In what world is this not gaining advantages by an external source.
Jeeeeeesus
I mean, it comes down to whether players are supposed to be getting outside help or not.
If this is allowed, welcome to the era of players hitting the rail for solver data every time it’s useful.
There should be no information given to during or after the days play. Shouldn't be allowed to view hands until after the tournament is over.
What about his ear piece?
It’s not cheating, but it should be frowned upon going forward. I think they should also have the spectators back, and a section above the players at on main stage. Preventing players from touching spectators and talking to them close and personal. Good win though, you can’t take that away from him, getting through that isn’t easy at all, and real player knows that. Congrats tomayo 8/3
Rec player could have gotten coaches sure but the time it takes to really understand SIMs and more isn't learned in an afternoon.
Im in the school of thought that says no aids of any kind. No friends coaching you, no laptops or tablets on the rail going over anything. Just sit down and play. Also, shame on you alex for the clickbait title. You're better than that.
Dude what about the EARPIECE!!!!!!???????LINKED UP TO HIS RAIL!
Pro's should be fuckin embarrassed.
Need a whole crew and a computer running solvers to defeat an amateur player. Horrendous look for poker.
Pathetic that WSOP couldn't put a stop to this immediately. like what the hell
It's disgusting the officials didn't say anything about it. If we could all just use computers then what's the point of poker? It's just gambling at that point.
equivalent to playing with a solver ✌️
