That's not a plastic tip. That's half of a ⅜" (8mm) hose joiner that has broken off. The other half is down underneath somewhere along with the other part of the hose.
Mine was a plastic tip. It keeps the tip (outlet) of the rubber hose from getting pinched. There is no additional part of the hose. The video is correct.

Air flow arrow should be point down where yhe fan is. Yours was put in backwards
Toyota genuine filter arrow points up for installation purpose and doesnt represent air flow. His was correct
