it managed to hook back up so i wonder if you sprayed a homemade prep to increase the grip between the tire and the dyno rollers if it would stay hooked up and you could get a really good run out of it. that is if cleetus is ok with doing this on his expensive dyno.

Yeah they need a methanol helmet, I think they run Meth in Toast as well? In which case that’s even worse because you’re spinning around in a cloud of it instead of leaving it all a quarter mile behind you, but they also need to seriously upgrade the ventilation in the shop, needs a big ass fan to blow the fumes out the door.

The lights flickering could be from the eddy brake and nothing to worry about. A company I worked for had a dynocom dyno. The electrical interference from the eddy brake was unreal. It would freeze the dyno computer and other electronics in the room. Never messed with the sensors on the cars tho. Made all the electronics in the room wireless and solved the problem.
You're right..lots of RF in the room and hard to Isolate. OR he is over revving the alternator
@@tripprogers4814 over revving an alternator is a thing? What if I spin my engine up past 6500 rpm? It's an ls.
@@damiendoisher7812 yep, may be a sign of bad things to come, and if the diode is starting to go bad that can be a problem with high revs. It tends to expose a weakness in the alternator. if your alternator is solid, you won't ever experience it. I had a Ford that used to COOK alternators with high revs. Discovered a bad ground and helped tremendously

Yep could be either - they need to isolate this issue before doing any serious events. Cleet - check the dynocom *and* the alternator voltage in the Elco's log!

It's higher than the door header so it's probably about 6'8". I think Cleet is 6'6" and James is 6'4" so they should be okay. Not by much though. lol

I would strongly recommend PPE (fire suit, helmet, gloves etc) for the operator when testing at that level, especially with Methanol.
Basically simulate your equipment that you would use racing. Only takes a fuel line to blow or transmission etc which could be extremely hazardous for the person in the car. Love the content, just a quick comment to ensure everyone stays safe.
When the sound blows out the speakers you know it was on a rip. Cannot wait to see this thing go down the track! The first 6 sec pass is going to be an amazing moment for the channel

It was supposed to run a 6 four years as a jet car. they scrapped that idea. Then it was supposed to run 6 two years ago after KSR completed the Pro stock build.

Getting it to hook is the trick. So far, more passes not hooking than hooking. But hey what evs. Throw more power at it.

Dude, that's a crispy ass 1500 hundred horsepower. I gave Cleetus and Brent a strawberry banana BODYARMOR when they at bandimere for race week. Mullet was so much lower and sleeker than it seems in the videos. And the car really sounds strong which was cool to see irl. Anyways, cheers Garrett this car is truly amazing and thank you for sharing

That car is going to fly. Def needs a turbo 400 with third gear. So we can get that 200+ mph
The reason for the 3 speed 400 is better starting line ratios not top speed.
Considering its hit 191mph before full meth deffo! add the turbo 400 with 3rd and its probs a 210mph car

@@Jnichols77 same 1.0 gear yes but tall 1st gear means a lower rear gear can be ran so it will also top speed faster.
Th-400 can run a 3:42 gear and be equal to a powerglide running a 3:90 gear off the line
LoL the car will go 200+mph with either trans. The rear gear and tire height is the determining factor there. The glide and the Th400 have the same final drive ratio of 1.00
He would need something like a Rossler 4speed that has an overdrive for what you're talking about and can handle the power but you would still would only use that as an overdrive gear. Not under full load. The reason guys really go with the Th400 is for the different gear options that are available prior to the final 1.00 ratio. Take care.

Edit: A fully tuned El Camino in Forza 4 (V12 swap, twin turbo, full upgrades) makes exactly 1,515 hp and 1,101 ft-lb torque. Cleetus just made 1,515 hp / 1,180 ft-lb.
Not gonna lie, it's kinda cool that you know that.
And cleetus has 4 cylinders less 😁

That Dynocomm is a heartbreaker too! On a dyno jet it would’ve made 200hp more. Great dyno though!
it really depends on setup, they can read higher or lower than a dynojet, afaik easier to manipulate
@@TakenBaconftw I have the same 7500 that Cleetus has with the eddy brake. Trust me with all metrics the same, no brake on, correction factors the same the Dynocomm will read lower/truer than the dynocomms do. The Mustangs and Dynocomms are heartbreakers.

If you wanna get that same feel for a fraction of the cost, try RC cars/trucks. As soon as you crank up the power, something breaks. You buy an upgraded part. The next weakest part breaks. It's a neverending thrill ride.......with a side trip to the bank. Cleet's just playing with the big-boy toys.
@@ronjones-6977 fun part is i have a really grunty setup on a 1/16 slash and it don't break, hasn't broken since i put billet uprights/knuckles and upgraded front and rear driveshafts in it, thing runs a brushless outrunner from a heli..

Jokes aside, it helps to have somebody with deep pockets to try out the new wild setups and figure out how to make them work.
I thought Leroy was built for 1500hp, and elco was 2000hp? I like the elco a lot, I like that it's their first purpose built car, and they're taking it seriously. However, I have thought that from the start with everything they've packed into this car, and it's overall size and weight, that it's underpowered, I understand the practical limitations of parts sourcing in keeping the base 427 block across the fleet, but I think the elco has needed a larger engine, and a significantly higher power level from the start, looking at the types of cars that can and do run consistant 6 second passes. I know it's easy to complain in the comments section, and that I'm not the one building or driving the car, but that's been my feeling on the whole project since they announced the plans for it when Kevin got his hands on it.
Mullet will do 2,000+ easy. This is very conservative. 29lbs of boost and just 14 degrees of timing. They've been struggling to get traction, so power hasn't mattered much. (they've finally figured out the traction now)
I've never been a big burnout fan. Damn near any car can spin the tires enough to hide the car in a cloud of smoke, and beyond that it's just noise pollution. So I say take the damn engine out of toast and put it in mullet. Screw all the turbos, those guys need one blown drag car.
They built Mullet with the 427 to start, but said it could get a bigger and more powerful engine down the road. Steve Morris had a video of building an engine for Cleetus and I saw the crate in Cleetus' shop. They said the crate was for Jackstand's project, but have said nothing else. It makes sense it would be the next step for Mullet especially considering that Mullet was built partly with information/design ideas shared by Tom Bailey, who runs 6 second passes all the time with Steve Morris engines. They have been hush hush about the SM engine and since Toast got the Aussi engine, I can't think of any other cars more likely to get the SM engine than Mullet.
I am excited AF for the hub dyno, that's gonna be a lot of fun for the boys lol
