This feels like a breath of fresh air to see this. When gay relationships in shows are portrayed as flawless and never having any problems or arguments gets really annoying after a while. Real relationships have bumps in the road no matter what type it is or what sexuality either partner is. And it takes a lot to realize that may you weren’t meant for each other and when it’s time to break things off.

As an aside, I love the theory that Trevor only being able to speak in beatbox represents how bad he is at communicating.

Remember kids, just because your SO is the same sex as you doesn't mean you can zone out of the relationship and act like a man child. Love takes work.

it's so real, this is exactly the representation we need. we need the cute fluffy stuff, but we also need the realness that comes with any relationship. not everything is sunshine and rainbows (ha, rainbows) in gay relationships, because they're just relationships and there's nothing different about them

Awww that was so fun in the most sad way, haha. A surprisingly nuanced view of a failing relationship, with incredibly interesting and creative presentation!! Bravo!

Cishet white guy here. I appreciate this fairly grounded depiction of not just the LGBT community, but relationships in general. Real life is far from perfect, and sometimes there just isn't a solution to problems like these; plus, all the little media references and gags were pretty hilarious

As an aromantic, I really appreciate art like this because it helps me understand what it's like to experience love and heartbreak.

I really loved this animation as someone who has been in a relationship like this. Trevor probably doesn't mean any harm, and it's clear he cares, but, it can be emotionally exhausting to be in a relationship where someone feels so emotionally distant or careless. Bloo's realization that he kept lashing out because he wasn't happy and finally putting an end to it was one I could really relate to.

"*Beat boxes in Spanish*" had me in my grave, lol

When trevor said “bOOmsickitaboom-chh” that really made me emotional fr

  • @daniellaizekemoe1967

I love how as the channels change, Bloo follows aswell in certain aspects such as tone and appearance relative to the context. Whereas Trevor is just...TREVOR. Well, most of the time. He does change in appearance aswell, but he mostly just stays the same throughout.

Gay or straight, every relationship has problems, and some relationships just don't work out. Love is love, but love is complicated as well.

I don't know what it's called but I find that style where the patterns don't move to be really charming

  • @SockTheUnicorn

I mean, it was incredibly clear from the start that they weren't good for each other. Navigating that kind of thing, especially in queer relationships can be really difficult. Things don't always work, and I'm glad that Bloo was able to recognize when the relationship wasn't healthy. I see a lot of queer-centric media falling into the trap of either "everything is perfect", or conversely, "everything sucks". It's nice to see something that acknowledges and even explores the complexities that are inherent to relationships.

I love the commitment to the appliance head character designs; like when the waffle iron guy would talk by flapping his mouth, Bloo literally turning up the volume to yell, making one of your protags mute because he's a boombox??? It's all genius. There was so much care and thought put into how to make this world feel alive and make sense <3
