  • In this video Dr Hansaji Yogendra speaks about a subject often considered indulgent and unhealthy: Chocolate.
While many see chocolate as a guilty pleasure to be savored sparingly on special occasions, it turns out that chocolate can be good for you in various ways.
We're referring to dark chocolate, which possesses health benefits without the additives.
Let's explore some of the benefits of dark chocolate.
Healthier skin- The flavonoids present in dark chocolate may help shield your skin from damage caused by the sun's UV rays.
Abundant in antioxidants, which safeguard your cells from harm.
Enhances cognitive function and provides protection against age-related cognitive decline.
Improves insulin sensitivity and helps reduce the risk of diabetes.
Promotes heart health by lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart disease.
Natural mood enhancer. It contains a compound called phenylethylamine, which stimulates the release of endorphins, the 'feel-good' chemicals in your brain.
So, instead of reaching for a sugary snack, consider grabbing a piece of dark chocolate the next time you're feeling down.
Remember, like anything else, it's crucial to consume dark chocolate in moderation.
Overindulgence can quickly lead to unhealthy outcomes.
    Recipe
    Ingredients:
    1 cup cocoa nibs
1/2 cup coconut oil or cocoa butter
1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    Pinch of salt
    Instructions:
Grind the cocoa nibs into a fine powder, sieve it, and set it aside.
In a double boiler, melt the coconut oil or cocoa butter over low heat.
Once melted, add the cocoa nibs powder, vanilla extract, and salt to the double boiler. Stir until well combined.
Remove the double boiler from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
Add honey or maple syrup to the mixture.
Pour the mixture into a chocolate mold or a lined baking dish.
Place the mold or dish in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 30 minutes or until the chocolate hardens.
Once hardened, remove the chocolate from the mold or dish and break it into pieces.
Voila! Your homemade dark chocolate is now ready to enjoy. Store it in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.

I started eating 85% dark chocolate (one 45mm square per day) as part of a fitness drive. I must admit at first it tasted pretty bland but after a few weeks I look forward to its creamy taste as the last thing I eat at night. I break it into four and let each piece slowly melt in my mouth - Mmmmm, wonderful! 🍫

When buying dark chocolate, avoid those that list alkali processing (or Dutch processing). This process diminishes the health benefit because it reduces the amount of healthy flavanols. I find that I enjoy 85% cacao dark chocolate and consume it daily for the health benefits and because I LOVE chocolate.

Individuals who call you tasteless for enjoying dark chocolate probably means they prefer their food doused in oils and smothered in corn syrup or something. The type of people that can't enjoy some nuggets or a bagel without ketchup or cream cheese or else they'll die or something. Truthfully speaking, you have better tastebuds than them for being able to savor and enjoy all normal and natural ingredients.@@mrtk-ph5sy
