For Wolverine, I'd say: Scent of Fear+ x2. No direct damage, but combines Taunt, Weak and Counter in an area effect. Wolverine's best card, IMO. Lethal Pounce(+) x2. This sets up strong counterattacks, and is a strong attack in its own right. Just make sure you use it as a full combo. Eviscerate+ x2. The other way Wolverine can generate that all important Counter. You will need a KO with this one, so if all else fails use one attack on a minion. Rapid Regeneration(+) OR Rapid Healing(+) x1. It's a very tough call between these two. Regeneration gives you revives and trims your deck since it won't be drawn unless Wolverine is KO'd. And while it does use 2 Heroism it doesn't count towards your card plays. Healing gives you a Cure on demand, generates Heroism and helps keep Wolverine conscious. There's a strong argument for both features, but you should choose one or the other. I lean towards Regeneration as the better choice. Berserk(+) x1. You mainly want this to get Scent of Fear+ or Eviscerate+ into your hand, if you don't already have them. If you can get it with a mod that gives you an extra redraw or two, it's much better. The cards marked with (+) means the upgraded version is optional. As for the other cards: Chain Swipes: Scent of Fear+ gives much better status effects in an area, and Eviscerate+ does much the same job and gives Counter on just one KO, without needing the Full Combo. If you have high heroism, it's AMAZING, but you'll probably need to build up for it, and hopefully you'll have wiped the enemies out before this is worth playing. Piercing Slash: Good single target damage, even better if the target has block. But when you factor in the Counter damage, Eviscerate+ is much better, and isn't dependant on the enemy having Block.
I'm amazed to see how different builds can be that work well. I have 2x lethal pounce with a mod that gives 50% chance at marked and the other 50% of vulnerable. I have quick swipes x1 (did not know you can get it with knockback wow! So ill probably add a second one with the knockback mod. But then I have 2x berserk 1 is free and one I think has 4 heroism gain. Then I have power slash attack with vulnerable on it. So I'll often smack a tough enemy into a minion that I've marked or something that explodes that kills a marked minion. Get vulnerable on the tough enemy and get my card play back. I use lethal pounce on marked enemies to get strengthened and get my card play back. I used berserk to draw the wolverine cards I need. I like stink of fear but can't find place for it because I got free on Rapid healing so I keep it on me for a cure and healing. Then one eviscerate with 50% chance of vulnerable and then I got midnight special with vulnerable on it. If I have wolvie strengthened(which I almost always do and he generates one heroism for each KO, then at 8-10 heroism which is easy with the heroism generating hand I have, I wipe the floor and almost always clear the screen with wolverine and have 6-7 heroism returned. If I use holy gift before that it doesn't exhaust any I can use it again for the next wave and I'm almost at full heroism. People say he is weak. He is one of my strongest and I still battle with captain marvel as she easily gets knocked out of binary as soon as I get her to it. I guess I need to experiment with her more.

Taunt is the opposite effect since you want the target to survive. But Knockback mod lets you turn Quick Swipe into a multi-target card, and then you can take full advantage of the Quick, Taunt and Lifesteal (from Quick Swipe+) by killing the second target. This is often very easy since the game hands you a lot of minions. If you are using the +100% damage mod, you'd really want an enemy that has more full health than you could KO with the regular card but less than the +100% damage would do. There aren't many enemies like that. If you just kill a minion for the Quick heroism, then you don't need extra damage. And if you don't kill the enemy, you don't get Quick. Either way, you lose some of the potential of the card.
I feel old now, imo he is my favorite type of Tank, He is a Life Steal Tank, I don’t remember what game I was playing but I know it was a mmo where the Tank would self-sustain off of their own dmg, so they were a combo of a Off tank/Off DPS, that seems to basically be the idea behind wolverine and I actually love it for him lol.
Unless I am missing something, he seems to be one the least effective characters in the game. I agree with you, I like the idea behind his design, but he needs either a way generate block, or higher damage output.

@@HArryvajonasu have to utilize his lifesteal to get the most out of his healing factor. If he is at full health, dont randomly taunt enemies without “rapid healing” and “berserk”. Also he restores FULL HEALTH at revive which is super op in ultimate III. In terms of damage hes definitely above Cap but below Capt Marvel. but both of them dont have lifesteal
@bananajoe7365 Given the fact that the combat system requires all-out offense in most end-game encounters, I found lifesteal characters inferior by a wide margin to instant damage or stun characters A tank like Wolverine takes a whole group built around him and waiting a turn or more for some of his abilities to become available seems very counter intuitive to the type of offensive gameplay the game itself seems to promote. Yes, Wolverine and Blade are viable, but you are making the game far more difficult using them. Unless they have been substantially buffed since 2 months after launch ( the last time I played ). Most end-game enemies require burst damage or burst aoe asap. Wolverine takes multiple turns to ramp up. If you are able to use him and have fun playing the game, it is a testament to how good the game is. I do think it is an 8/10 game with a great combat system.
Re: "if you had lifesteal 2, counter attacks would have lifesteal" I dont think that works, cause the ability doesn't give YOU lifesteal, it says CARDS gain lifesteal, and counterattack isn't a card.
I think they did wolverine dirty in this game. He should have resistance stacks that he can gain to block incoming damage, and he should have infinite revives with a growing heroism cost

Considering he is one of Marvels most popular characters, he might just be the worst character in this game; this makes no sense. There are 3-4 very powerful characters, 4 that are barely average to below average, and 3 that are terrible. This game needs some hero balancing patches.
Maybe if they buff Wolverine's damage he might be a little better? Captain America and Captain Marvel both seem like they do more damage than him and can generate block so idk why I'd use him over one of them?
@subterragaming836 I haven't played the game since launch. Have there been any major balance patches? I thought the core combat was very good but lacked enemy and environmental variety. I wish the resources put into the whole relationship system had been devoted to more maps and enemies.

Would you consider quick swipe with 100% offense on full health targets good?

Wolverine and Blade seems like the best offensive duo pairing , the best offence is the best defence type
