I really liked how you picture the different aspects of calypso, both the hurting lonely girl and the powerful goddess who doesn't realise/acknowledge she's hurting him
this i think is the perfect explanation of her character. not inherently evil, but more an unfortunate culmination of desperation for connection and a lacking of the level of empathy needed to understand when she’s pushed too far. her forced isolation hurt her, and that pain caused her hurt others. i feel like the community sees her as malicious as the other major gods when imo she’s more a victim of circumstance like Ody, especially you take into consideration zeus is the one who originally trapped her on the island.
@@yaboi6925 Yes! exactly. I don´t think Calypso is trying to be manipulative and she definitely is a victim too, though she still is in the wrong for acting the way she does in love in paradise. But I still feel sorry for her. She doesn´t deserve to be viewed like an evil character and I sympathize with her feeling of loneliness and unrequited love. I can´t imagine being trapped alone for so long and when someone finally shows up they just want to leave again.
That's how I always feel at the end of cinematics for this song, they almost always show her alone like this and for all the evil she's done, it's still sad.
@andraws That one is debatable I would say not having trust in the Gods was his flaw. Orpheus didn't kill anyone in his way into the underworld to get his wife he was just charismatic. If he just had a bit more faith he would have left the Underworld with his love.
The fact that Calypso looks so soft here hurts me because I know she’s being honest but what she did was so wrong so Odysseus not giving a SINGLE shit is amazing to me, his gaze being absolutely devoid of emotion even as he’s sailing away and you can tell he doesn’t regret leaving at all. Amazing animatic!!!
I wouldn't agree with him not caring because I'm pretty sure he does but he wants to get back to his actual family, as he did say he loves her just not like that so he definitely cared
Odysseus not even bothering to look at her. Ody pulling away because _he’s finally free._ Calypso’s crazed facial expressions, while also being confused and sad. Love this interpretation of the song.
Something that I’ve always thought about Calypso is that her story was tragic. She was sent to Ogygia and lived alone where she couldn’t even escape. The one time the gods let somebody into her care, it was somebody that she couldn’t have. She just wanted somebody to love and stay with her, but the only person who ever came to Ogygia was a married man. I know many people view her as manipulative, but she truly is a tragic character, and when I hear this song, I feel her emotions, and this animatic did a great job of showing her pain.
I'm glad you posted this, Calypso is as much a victim as Odysseus in this case, The gods are cruel even to other gods. She's learning all her emotions at once and with a guy who only has eyes for his wife, whom gets to leave while she's permanently trapped there.
While I acknowledge this, I also do think that she's a horrible person. Saying one does not take away from the other, and I think more of the fandom needs to realize that! While, yes, she has done disgusting and depraved acts, and, while, yes, she truly loved Odysseus, these aren't mutually exclusive! I know that it isn't explicitly stated in Epic, but Calypso has always been portrayed as a r*pist, and Epic not showing this doesn't mean that it didn't happen. Odysseus would cry for his dead friends and his estranged family before reluctantly going to the bedchambers of Calypso. That is coercion; that is rape. She IS manipulative, disgusting, AND tragic (her actions don't take away from the events that took place). But I would like to add she isn't "as much as a victim as Odysseus in this case", as Sorren said. She's not. You can acknowledge that her banishment to Ogygia likely contributed to her behavior, but you can also acknowledge that she's a gross, sick individual who doesn't deserve sympathy for reaping what she has sown. She is not the victim in this case because she is not the focus of this case. Odysseus is. She is the perpetrator.
This why I have different opinions about different versions of calypso (for example: in Percy Jackson, I love her, whereas in the original myths I absolutely despise her, and in Epic she’s neutral, in my opinion)
@@hudaaisym I should say, I still think she’s in the wrong, but I do have pity on her. She’s most definitely an extrovert, and she was left alone for a hundred years. I don’t think most people grasp how long that is. For me, the time I’ve been alive feels like forever, but this is several times how long I’ve been alive. Is it not safe to say that most extroverted people in her situation would do the same thing? That’s not even bringing up the fact that she legitimately felt love for him. So while yes, she is most definitely in the wrong, she is more complex than a manipulator. It isn’t just black and white. She has those shades of grey, and I think it’s reasonable to assume that several people, that can be thought of as good people, would do similar things in her situation.
God this is heartbreaking. I love this song for Calypso's manipulation, but I also do believe she's manipulative because she doesn't know how to be anything else. She really is feeling all these things, she's genuinely devastated, and you show that so perfectly. Absolutely perfectly.
It occurred to me today, researching if if could write lyrics for Calypso after Odysseus for a period of time, that Zeus tends to send her injured men on occasion after chaining her immortality to this island. If Calypsos only godly role model is Zeus... how much bad love advice and examples must she have to deal with, and unlike Odysseus (as idk if he's the 1st or just the 1st in a hundred years that Zeus sent to her) how poorly they could have treated her before leaving again (as clearly those sent to her are meant to be unrequited loves breaking Calypso.)
@psychobsessed_ the zeus thing? Or one of the other things about her? I know alot is up for interpretation and there's alot to sort through to figure out the true myth. I'm definitely no expert, and definitely know very little, I just did a short google search for base points to work off to dig more. If you could point which is more Rick Riordans interpretation v. true myth, it would definitely help. If anything i would just title it a What if... song if I get anywhere near a version I like. But I do love mythology, not just Rick Riordans version. I like to look into all point of views and get into everyones thoughts.
@@chisasukelover1 the Zeus sending men to her island thing :3 sorry I was unclear before and yeah I completely understand. It can be a serious hassle to sort through the actual myths, trying to decide what’s real and what’s not.
@psychobsessed_ thankyou for the clarification. I'll keep searching around the interweb and see if I can find any other reading materials and mythology youtube channels that are specific to her. I kind of want to write short story for her loosely based on her mythos. 🤔 I doubt I want my Aveline to be a Calypso though even with amnesia. (Epic Fantasy book I've been writing and revising for 13m now.) Thanks for the thinking material :) appreciate it
I love that this animatic leans into the emotional manipulation aspect. Not that I don't think Calypso isn't being honest here, but I've always got the impression that even if she's sincere, there's a lot of self-justification going on. And Ody is having none of it. (My personal take is that Ody does feel somewhat sorry for Calypso and that he didn't hate every single moment with her, but that doesn't negate the fact that he's been A PRISONER. For 7 YEARS. It's just how human psychology works.) Beautiful animatic, thank you for making it! 😊
Agreed. I too imagine Odysseus has complicated feelings about Calypso. That’s true for so many abusive situations. Hurt people hurt people. It’s part of what makes it so hard to leave. You feel genuine sympathy for this damaged person even if they’re damaging you. You want to help them. But you can’t at the expense of yourself.
Yes, that's exactly what I've been trying to explain but never got the words to do so when someone asked me why did he say I love you. He spent 7 years alone with her, even if he didn't want to, humans crave contact, like we can't stay alone alone for long, we need to at least be close to someone (even if close is lit just standing 10 ft apart and saying hi), so yeah he loves her, is it healthy? Not really, is it romantic? Not even close, is it probs borderline resentment/hate? Yeah most likely, but it's there (human psychology is so interesting and sometimes a little bit crazy)
The thing most people don't realize is that Calypso isn't keeping Oddysseus on the island. She doesn't have the power to let him go. And she's been alone for so long, and he's the first person Calypso has seen in a while. It's only fair that she will obsess over him after being alone for so long. And it really is sad that Oddysseus doesn't love her back.
I saw the thumbnail and immediately knew this would SLAY!!! As others have said, I appreciate you not having Odysseus look at her. If I am interpreting this correctly, while she is portrayed sympathetically, it is also reasonable to see why he would have no guilt over leaving her. Maybe he has some care for her as a fellow human being but cannot bear to empathize with someone that had such a negative impact on his life.
I love how this also takes in mind Calypsos side of things- like yeah she definitely wasn’t a great host/captor (understatement) but it also shows how she didn’t realize what she was doing was wrong- after all she’s never had another person to tell her otherwise and IS A GODDESS- she’s like a spoiled child who really wants to be nice but can’t handle not getting what she wants
Knowing calypsos lore and the fact that in most readings she ends her life after he leaves breaks my heart. She was essentially a child who’d grown up completely alone and didn’t know any better..
Very telling how this whole thing is centered on Calypso emoting, with barely any focus on Odysseus or anything he feels. She's singing to him about him, but it's really all about her feeling sorry for herself. And Odysseus saying he loves her without even looking at her makes the words less a kindness and more twisting the knife. "Oh, here's what you hurt me to get...but oops, still not what you wanted and never will be, goodbye." Excellent interpretation of the song.
omg i love that Ody didn't even look at her and how he didn't stop to hug her or anything, most animatic make the ,,i love you" moment very tende but here it's way more bitter and i think it;s a great take
I LOVE THE FACT THAT HE DIDN'T EVEN LOOKS AT CALYPSO. He had suffering a lot with her. Personally, when Calypso says: "Then I'm sorry my love is to much for you" I'm like: "Well, I'm sorry Ody didn't fall in love with you after the 7 years you got him kiddnaped in your isle, SO sorry" 💀 Poor Ody
Tbf, she's basically a child in an adult's body. She's been isolated for the vast majority of her life. You can't expect her to have good communication skills. I do think that she meant it when she said she was sorry, she just phrased it poorly.
@@DrewFilms05 exactly, Calypso is not using her emotions to manipulate here, they are real. It's like expecting someone to instantly know how to drive a car perfectly the first time around, she's never had guidance, companionship or anything. A hell of paradise, I doubt she even trapped him rather, he too just couldn't leave.
I absolutely love how you expressed these two; especially the more manipulative aspect of Calpyso. Even with showing her as a victim herself she herself became the abuser and harmed Odysseus even if unintentionally. And then Odysseus never even caring to spare a glance. I know a lot of people say he says he loved her and means it but I don’t think he did. I think he literally said it either to be spiteful or because he that’s the only control he’s been able to have that entire time. That even through all the emotional abuse he’s been able to deny her the one thing she’s wanted. I just love how this is closer represented from Gigi’s official animatic from the livestream where were we he truly doesn’t care. Why say he loves her only to correct her? I think it’s just him getting that one jab in, and as he should.
I think the sheer amount of expressions and the complex variety you managed to illustrate is amazing. She feels...so real. So much is conveyed. I've always thought that lines like "then I am sorry my love is too much for you" have always been kind of a sulky, sullen non-apology. Genuinely heartbroken, yes. But nevertheless as petulant and selfish and self-centered as a teenager saying, "I'm sorry you feel that way BUT--(And fine, I'll concede that I did THIS part wrong...)!" And I think you managed to literally illustrate that whole direction AMAZINGLY. The fast-paced moods, the almost hysterical conflict shifting at her every word, the dramatic flailing. It truly reads someone who is, at their core, very immature and not all that well-socialized or developed. She's been alone for so long that she doesn't know how NOT to make this about her and being very toxic about it, which is made sadder and harder to deal with because she is genuine about it. In the end though, as she said, love is a very new thing to her. Relationships are a new thing. Heartbreak is a new thing. And she has only MAYBE started to learn consideration.
I mean, she's also dealing with the fact that she's going to be left alone for, potentially, eternity. Like, I feel like people don't really recognise that Calypso has so many reasons to be selfish in this song. Making the perfect apology - something that is impossible for someone who hasn't been taught - doesn't change the fact that Odysseus leaving is condemning her to, potentially, an eternity of isolation.
oh my god, YES!! this is exactly what i've been looking for in an animatic! calypso's desperation and anger shine through so clearly and i think that's really important - she comes off even childish sometimes, but that makes sense because she's raised herself! of course she would be like that. and damn, ody not even sparing her a goodbye glance, whew,,, this is SO GOOD!!!
AAAAUUUUHHHH THIS IS SO GOOD. I love your style, especially your eyes-they are so wonderfully expressive, both the desperation in Calypso’s and the emptiness in Ody’s; it’s all so perfect. And yes it’s been said in every comment but I’ll say it again: HIM NOT LOOKING AT HER EVEN DURING HIS LINE WAS S U C H A GOOD TOUCH!! I’ve always felt a little bad for Calypso. It’s not her fault she was stranded (in mythology she’s being punished for the crime of being a Titan’s daughter). But it isn’t Odysseus’ either, and she does her damnedest to make him feel responsible and guilty. Odysseus is a married man completely helpless on this island, desperate to return home; and Calypso has, at every turn and every moment for seven years, completely ignored his feelings, desires, and grief. It’s a shame she’s probably genuinely in love with him, or at least what she believes to be love, because he’s the one person in all of humanity and divinity who has the literal god-given right to absolutely _despise_ her.
I love your Calypso design so much and how you portray her as in the wrong but still like someone who hurts others, in this case without acknowledging or realising it, because she herself is hurting. This is really good.
I want to bathe in your art. It’s sublime. I got shivers watching this. I love the emotions across Calypso’s face throughout this piece. The sulking, begrudging apology and the anger and sadness. It takes real skill to portray such an emotionally complex interaction through animation. It’s a tough scene to capture for so many reasons, but you‘ve really done it justice. Thanks for sharing your talents with the world. I hope to see more from you! …Also the spin shot as Calypso unravels around the 2:07 mark is exactly how I envisioned it in my head. So thank you for making it a reality. That one really tickled my brain.
I LOVE HOW THIS ANIMATIC PORTRAYS THE DYNAMIC!! I mean yeah calypso you suffered but girl you made odysseus suffer he has the right to not even wanna look at you
In here odysseus's coldness makes me really feel bad for calypso (even tho its very much deserved since he really doesnt love her and was forced to stay) the fact he didnt even look at her once in this whole animatic is so much more painful for calypso I love that kind of angst. Her longing for his is such a curse 😭😭😭 and the "i love you... but not in the way that you want me too" here felt like a small vengance. A lil coup de grace before leaving her in her misery
This is one of the best animatics I have seen for Epic. I think you really captured everything that makes Calypso sympathetic, but also all the reasons why she is still an antagonist. Her loneliness that she has expressed for centuries, her putting all of her weight into making Ody love her and making a relationship possible for them, but her overextended, breaking boundaries, and hurting Ody. She does want this relationship to work, she does want this relationship to EXIST, but because of her social inexperience and ineptitude, she can't see that it isn't possible and that she is the problem. And on top of that, I love that you made Ody completely cold towards Calypso since she DID hurt him, and he doesn't want to give her any satisfaction and that he wants to leave as soon as possible. Overall, on top of just being beautifully drawn and having beautiful coloring, I think you really did a good job capturing the emotions of each character and this story.
The BEST animation of this song. I need to bow down and thank you for going twords the maipulation, a aspect of it rather than the other way around. Love it a lot. Also your art is incredible
Right now I'm ending a relationship with a man who was my partner some time ago and was incredible manipulating, emotionally abusive and gaslighted myself and all of our friends making himself the victim, and you don't have any idea how your animatic is helping to healing me. Odysseus being cold and strong validates me to not taking back my desicion. Thank you, THANK YOU for him hurting her for the abuse. Thank you for showing that her was in the wrong and never respected Ody, thank you for him not stepping back to showing her care that she doesn't deserve. Thank you, thank you for your beautiful art. This is the only way that I can hear this song. Keep doing the good job❤
Honestly one of my favorite things about this is how Odysseus never turns to look at her. He's just ready to leave. Really helps this song sound like a tantrum and a desperate last effort to try and either guilt or make him want to stay. And to see his stone cold expression at the end, it's just all so perfect. Especially when he says I love you but doesn't turn either. It's like as a "There. I said it, happy?" It's not meant to be very genuine (even platonic wise) and it's so perfeclty displayed here.
As a fellow Calypso hater to another, I applaud you. I really don't like the animatics that show Odysseus having any positive reactions to being kept prisoner for 7 fucking years and I love how yours shows how done he is with being pushed around.
Despite keeping Ody for 7 years on her island, however, giving some thoughts: she kinda knew Ody wasn’t fully in love with her. And I like it how the camera is focusing on just Calypso and watching her demeanor changes as she solemnly talking to Ody.
oh ho ho!!! i absolutely adore the fact that you made it so odysseus doesnt look at calypso the whole song, he just works on leaving and goes without looking back! thats so cool and the final pan where we just see his face where he's so tired looking and just determined, not even caring just aj[kfjmaslkd;fjal;ksdfl;asfj so good edit: also just like how touchy she is the whole song while he doesn't even react is just so telling of like their relationship and kinda how she's objectified him this whole time she kept him prisoner. just doing whatever she wants without retribution nor care for how ody feels and adfkjas;dfjalsfj;
This is so good and so sad at the same time. The amount of suffering that Calypso also is going through is just as real. It's a good reminder that you never know what other people are going through too.
God she's so manipulative and I hate her but like I love this sm ahhhhh. Like a lot of people are like "she's so sad and lonely and her voice is beautiful" and they totally miss the point of her character, something you obviously didn't miss cuz this is spot on. Like is her story tragic? Sure, but only in isolation. Once you take into account what she does to Odysseus (namely raping him for 7 years), you begin to realize how manipulative she is, which you capture beautifully in her facial expressions (I especially loved her first "my love's too much for you" cuz its such a tactic used by abusive partners and her face says everything in that moment)
Yes! Yes to all of this! You portrayed Calypso exactly the way I saw her troughout this entire song! Her facial exprssions are everything here! The angry, feed up look on her face, the dismissiveness and implied eye roll, the tears! She isn't actually apologizing for anything in this song! At most, she is apologizing that Odysseus didn't understand her advances and intentions.
I've seen a few too many interpretations of this song that show Calypso in an ambiguous, or God forbid, sympathetic light, so I'm glad to see one show it how it is. Calypso is a petulant rapist who doesn't understand why what she did was wrong, and Odysseus has every right to ignore this ridiculous non-apology. "I'm not sorry for loving (read: raping) you" is certainly a way to apologize. I love Ody's portrayal as coldly listening and rejecting her, really drives home the point that "Odysseus gets to go home, and he has no more time for anyone else."
I cackled when you said (read:raping), and you are completely right. There is absolutely no reason for Odysseus to care about her, and she can rot on that island.
I understand what Calypso did to Ody is wrong and it will NEVER be right, but i cant help feeling alittle sad for Calypso. She has been alone for over 100 years and she just wanted to someone to be with her. It could of happened with anyone that showed up at Calypso's island. Ody was never meant to be there, but him leaving means she will be alone again. She has attachment issues and a fear of being alone again. Anyone would go crazy and get attached to anyone that comes their way if they were alone for 100s of years. She said previously in her other song that "last i checked, Goddesses cant die" which indicates she may have tried to end her suffering, but was unsuccessful. This animation is fantastic though because i like that it really showed the emotions of Calypsos fears, but it also shows Ody giving her the cold shoulder which i feel would definitely be a genuine presentation on how Ody has felt towards her
Seeing everybody else's comments I'm really torn. I try to be understanding but I don't know everything she has done to Ody. She seems like she genuinely loving him and respects his space and when she reaches out and pulls away. This song really hurts because it makes me think how hard I have tried to love everyone around me but it has always been one sided effort. Been dealing with when my mom left me when I was young and it just now (I'm 29) is effecting me. Sorry if this makes me a bad person.
@VicMeep Thank you so much life is so hard. I know there are people who are having it worse than me. But I can't help to be sad sometimes. I try to be strong but it is hard to do all the time.
Of all the animatics I've seen so far I like this one the best for the extra pushes given to Make Calypso Emote and waving arms and shifting poses here and there. LOVE IT
I have an overdeveloped sense of empathy. Like, I always try to sympathize with Disney villains. In my mind, there are always reasons. Maybe not justifications, but reasons. Which is why I want to say that I kinda feel bad for Calypso. I am not justifying her actions in the least, but still, she got major friendzoned as someone who is clearly introverted to stay on an island of her own free will. Not trying to present an argument, simply stating a personal opinion. Please don't treat it as an argument.
Honestly. I don’t hate Calypso, yeah what she does is hurtful and everything but people have to understand. She’s been stuck there for her entire life, Lonely, sad, alone. But when Odysseus came she actually had hope and he left after seven years. Don’t get me wrong I don’t like Calypso but I don’t hate her either. In PJO when Leo lands on her Island in House of Hades you can tell she’s lost hope in love sense there’s been about four people to her island before him. She tells Leo something along the lines of “So you can go back to your Penelope, Elizabeth, Annabeth?!” (I don’t 100% remember but something like that). You can clearly tell she’s just accepted her fate of never having an actual loved one. And it was all because she was loyal to her father. Again, I don’t like Calypso but I don’t hate her either.
I actually like how in this version he didn't hugged or turn to her at all. LIKE FOR REAL, I feel like here he really mantains away from her. REALLY THANK YOU FOR THAT DETAIL ❤️
I know this isn’t what I’m supposed to comment… but i really like the background, it solidifies that this is her beautiful paradise space that she wanted to invite him into, and the background looks to be Smokey and faded but the words ;they’re clearest

Yes that my exact thought glad i am not The only one
@@chisasukelover1sorry to but in here, but that is actually inaccurate to real mythology. That is a concept invented by Percy Jackson^^
@@chisasukelover1 the Zeus sending men to her island thing :3 sorry I was unclear before
and yeah I completely understand.
(Epic Fantasy book I've been writing and revising for 13m now.) Thanks for the thinking material :) appreciate it
2:47 Odysseus’ face just says “im done with you bruh” 😭
Ody's fuckin' had it.
It's just how human psychology works.)
Beautiful animatic, thank you for making it! 😊
I mean, they lived alone together for what? 9 years or smthn, (I dont remember). Of course they'd become friends eventually.
@@Hamster_Joy No. Not the point. Just understand this is toxic and abusive, not friendship
Also, I must add that I love the designs. They were lovely 😊
That is so sad 😢😢😢😢
Didn't she mention about being immortal and how "goddesses" can't die?
2:30 I legit cried at the part when Calypso said I hate that i fell in love with you because i felt that! I FREAKIN FELT THAT!
Especially when she asked, "What do I do with this love for you?"
@chaelihenry8800 and...and "why in the world won't u love me too?" (༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ) I'm sobbing
Personally, when Calypso says: "Then I'm sorry my love is to much for you" I'm like: "Well, I'm sorry Ody didn't fall in love with you after the 7 years you got him kiddnaped in your isle, SO sorry" 💀
Poor Ody
technically he washed up on shore and was stuck on an island for 7 years. cant kidnap someone that was lost can you?
@marten3451 yeah, but he wanted to leave that isle and Calypso didn't let him
Tbf, she's basically a child in an adult's body.
Ehg... calipso emprisoning is not entirely calipso, zeus didn't just happend to commit a mistake
I think it’s just him getting that one jab in, and as he should.
holy crapppp i need a calypso saga or something this is so good her songs are SO BALLER
0:29 Considering the fact Odysseus was the first hero to go to her island, it somehow explains why she doesn't really know how to socialize properly.
The way Ody didn't for once even *GLACE* in her direction!😭
Odysseus be like, you've been cockblocking from my wife for seven years. I don't have any more patience for you, woman.
NO BC HIS FACE SO SAYS THAT
I think the sheer amount of expressions and the complex variety you managed to illustrate is amazing.
@@advenaphillips8872this isnt an apology quit making excuses for a b***ch
I like the face you gave Ody here(2:22). You can tell he is angry but pities Calypso.
oh my god, YES!! this is exactly what i've been looking for in an animatic! calypso's desperation and anger shine through so clearly and i think that's really important - she comes off even childish sometimes, but that makes sense because she's raised herself! of course she would be like that. and damn, ody not even sparing her a goodbye glance, whew,,, this is SO GOOD!!!
Chat, why am I slowly becoming an Epic the Musical fan even though I don't even know anything about Greek mythology-
@@RibbonsCreations join us.

Guys help they're rotting my brain and now all I can think is Epic the Musical songs
Sorry, friend, I don't make the rules. You live here now.
One of us. One of us. ONE OF US!!!
I mean yeah calypso you suffered but girl you made odysseus suffer he has the right to not even wanna look at you
For a king he often plays the role of the damsel in these sagas sometimes
In here odysseus's coldness makes me really feel bad for calypso (even tho its very much deserved since he really doesnt love her and was forced to stay) the fact he didnt even look at her once in this whole animatic is so much more painful for calypso I love that kind of angst. Her longing for his is such a curse 😭😭😭 and the "i love you... but not in the way that you want me too" here felt like a small vengance. A lil coup de grace before leaving her in her misery
Calypso has an amazing va and the way you capture emotions in the animatic makes it so much more emotional
I can’t help but think on my head canon the backing vocals are Hermes and Apollo because they made this entire thing a musical 😅
yall epic animators are too gifted in arts istg
I love how this song is just Calypso singing about how she isnt sorry for raping him lol
The expressions in this are so good like calypso has such a variety of emotions in this
I love your Calypso design sm and I love how all the emotions are portrayed!! This is a really cool animatic!!!
I hope Calypso meets the man that’s truly meant for her so she can finally know what real love looks like
Unfortunately, most stories say she commits after he leaves her, which seriously sucks all things considered.
The charadesigns, the looks, the emotions: all of it was the best i've seen so far !
Great job !!!
I started crying when Odysseus said “I love you”, I feel like that part just made her feel worse 😭
This is so pretty looking. The character designs are so well put together, their emotions. Its amazing
Like a lot of folks, the animation of Ody and how he is hurting made my jaw drop when he didnt turn to face Calypso. Amazing work.
1:28 she had the perfect face❤
Despite keeping Ody for 7 years on her island, however, giving some thoughts: she kinda knew Ody wasn’t fully in love with her. And I like it how the camera is focusing on just Calypso and watching her demeanor changes as she solemnly talking to Ody.
This song is literally the soundtrack to every time I fell in love with a close friend who was straight.
🫂
the way that you depicted calypso is brilliant ! definitely one of my favorite epic animatics
oh ho ho!!! i absolutely adore the fact that you made it so odysseus doesnt look at calypso the whole song, he just works on leaving and goes without looking back! thats so cool and the final pan where we just see his face where he's so tired looking and just determined, not even caring just aj[kfjmaslkd;fjal;ksdfl;asfj so good
edit: also just like how touchy she is the whole song while he doesn't even react is just so telling of like their relationship and kinda how she's objectified him this whole time she kept him prisoner. just doing whatever she wants without retribution nor care for how ody feels and adfkjas;dfjalsfj;
Controversial thought, but if Odysseus was female and Calypso was male, nobody in the comments would defend Calypso.
honestly, I hate calypso..
I really hope she suffers for all eternity and never finds peace of mind. Maybe send her to tartarus
Nigga I’m not reading all that the fuck 😂
Jk read all of it I think you have a good point took the words out of my mouth but shorten it next time
I've seen a few too many interpretations of this song that show Calypso in an ambiguous, or God forbid, sympathetic light, so I'm glad to see one show it how it is.
I want someone to hold me like how u made calypso hold Odysseus
THE ARTSTYLE IS SO DELECTABLE IT SUITS CALYPSO SM IDK HOW TO DESCRIBE LOL THANK U SM FOR BLESSING THE EPIC COMMUNITY🙏🙏🙏🙏

This is beautiful! I love how you draw Calypso
THIS IS STUNNING OML 😭😭❤
I love how oddy doesn’t give a fvck and he’s only there hearing so he can finally go home asap
This animation is fantastic though because i like that it really showed the emotions of Calypsos fears, but it also shows Ody giving her the cold shoulder which i feel would definitely be a genuine presentation on how Ody has felt towards her
I’M LATE BUT YOUR ART STYLE IS SO PRETTY WHAT??? AND THE COLOR CHOICE-THIS IS 100% MY FAVORITE NOT SORRY FOR LOVING YOU ANIMATIC
I LOVE how fed up he looks. He didn't even look back at her! The emotions are SOOOO good in this animatic, love it!! 💗🫶
Amazing =)
Love all the little details. So much skill went into making this
This animatic is so gorgeous omg!
Of all characters from Greek myth, Calypso has been among the few I've felt the most sorry for
This is SO good!!! omg!
The expression work here is INCREDIBLE, 10/10 animatic
Seeing everybody else's comments I'm really torn. I try to be understanding but I don't know everything she has done to Ody. She seems like she genuinely loving him and respects his space and when she reaches out and pulls away. This song really hurts because it makes me think how hard I have tried to love everyone around me but it has always been one sided effort. Been dealing with when my mom left me when I was young and it just now (I'm 29) is effecting me. Sorry if this makes me a bad person.
You're not a bad person for wanting to be loved in return by loved ones 🫂
@VicMeep Thank you so much life is so hard. I know there are people who are having it worse than me. But I can't help to be sad sometimes. I try to be strong but it is hard to do all the time.
Of all the animatics I've seen so far I like this one the best for the extra pushes given to Make Calypso Emote and waving arms and shifting poses here and there. LOVE IT
This is so sad and cute, well done!
I love how annoyed ody looks when he's leaving, and Calypso is over here like I'M NOT SORRY FOR LOVING YOU 💖💖❤️❤️🥰🥰💋💋✨✨😭😭
Your Calypso looks so pretty I almost feel sorry for her 😔💔
I have an overdeveloped sense of empathy.
All hail to clover's design on calypso ❤
When Calypso looked at Odysseus she looked like a mother who sees her child for the first time SO CUTE❤
Seriously so well done!
I LOVE how you drew Calypso in this :33
This is so good!!! Every single frame of this is so pretty ❤❤
this is boatful you did such a good job
I love how he doesn't even look at her. Like man is so sick of her shit. xD
AAAGH WHEN SHE WAS LEFT SOBS
I actually like how in this version he didn't hugged or turn to her at all. LIKE FOR REAL, I feel like here he really mantains away from her. REALLY THANK YOU FOR THAT DETAIL ❤️
I know this isn’t what I’m supposed to comment… but i really like the background, it solidifies that this is her beautiful paradise space that she wanted to invite him into, and the background looks to be Smokey and faded but the words ;they’re clearest
I wanna give her a hug this video made me cry poor Calypso
