This video is about a very important aspect of fitting cello and double bass bridges. Unfortunately, you can see again and again that the bridge feet at the outside are not always fully standing on the top but are in the air. This is because the bridge is pushed apart a bit by the string pressure and its construction with the high feet. If you don't simulate this when fitting it to the top, you'll have the problem afterwards that the bridge will slip much more easily and because of this all the force will act on a very small area (edge) on the top, which can lead to cracking much more easily.

Beim Cello 1,3 mm spreizen...und beim Bass? Wie merk ich, ob der Steg gespreizt wurde? Es können doch auch nur die Stegfüße gut angepasst werden und dann stehn die nicht nach außen auf...oder?! Und was ist beim höhenverstellbaren Basssteg?
Ist der Abstand der Stegfüße eigentlich bei allen Stegtypen (eines Instrumententyps) gleich? ...achso: und bei Geige und Bratsche wird nicht gestreckt?! Ist da die Dimension zu gering und es zahlt sich net aus?

Die 1,3mm sind eine ungefähre Angabe. Wie im Video erklärt hängt es von mehreren Faktoren ab und man sollte mit dieser Zahl nur arbeiten, wenn man einen hohen Erfahrungswert hat.
Bassfüße sind wesentlich stärker und dadurch ist die Spreizung weniger als beim Cello. Millimeterangaben wären auch hier nur Richtwerte.
Cello- und Bassstege ohne Spreizung aufzupassen geht garantiert schief, früher oder später.
Ich selbst halte von einem höhenverstellbaren Kontrabasssteg nichts, da zu viele Impulse verloren gehen.
Ob belgischer, französischer, Dreiherz- oder auch Barocksteg gewählt wird entscheidet der gewünschte Klang. Die verschiedenen Stegtypen gibt es in unterschiedlichen Stegbreiten, um optimal auf ein Instrument zu passen.
Bei Geige und Bratsche wird nicht gespreizt, da die Höhe der Stegfüße sehr gering ist und diese durch den Saitendruck auch nicht auseinander gedrückt werden.
