      Hi and thank you for your comment, My only pickle with it is the high front end noise, even by reducing the RF gain it does little to eradicate it, and when the gain is reduced the radio gives lower signal reports than usual.. I with they would utilize a proper RF gain function on these new radios.. although the noise reduction feature goes a long way to help but only has a setting of 5 increments and anything set over 2 it seems the incoming signal distorts.. apart from that it has a good receive and it's very good on bleed over. Hope you enjoy the radio when it comes in sure you will. Thanks and stay blessed 73

    Nice Live stream, wish conditions were a bit better. Glen you did come in loud a few times along with Richard WR456 but then everyone drifted away, everyone over the pond was getting stepped on by state side this morning! Louisiana was loud, chicken man & 500 Moose!

      Thanks for joining the live buddy, yes conditions could have been better but I think most of us suffered with noise and low signals today.. there will always be a better day for skip im sure..
      I think the rain moving in today made conditions poor as we had rain and that usually makes the skip low or go away.. good stream though and it was enjoyable especially you jumping the pond with Richard that was awesome..
      Hang in there as there is a long way to go yet and many more months of skip to come.
      I've not forgotten the link in not sure which one it is I'll ask Zara when we chat later then post it off to you. 👍😎

    Beautiful radio my friend. I see you have the HiCut on. I used to have the Lincoln 2plus and I was using the HiCut too. Otherwise it sounded tinny. Good stuff. You can change it to show swr when you key up. I thing it will be better. Thanks for the video.. 73's

      Thank you for the compliment on the radio, this radio has a tone control in the menu options so you can turn up or down how it sounds, it also has many options too in the menu for changing the radio to suit.. it's a very new radio and was only available in the UK from last week.. it runs in full export mode and covers many bands.

    Strange about the RF gain and NRC, the George II has a very similar board to the CRT 7900V and those functions work brilliantly on them.

    • @DeltaXray444
      @DeltaXray444  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi.. yes it seems to be the norm on some of these new radios, the 7900v like the quad five seem to have cracked it.. this George seems to function almost identical to the McKinley in the way it receives with such a high end front noise and when the RF gain is set lower to take it away it gives a mixed bag of signals that aren't exactly accurate..
      almost like you get ash noise with a signal 9 but the signal should really be a 4-5 reading.
      The NRC reduces the ash noise somewhat but anything over setting 2 you can start hear the incoming signal start the chip around the edges of the incoming audio on lower signals..
      During this session the noise reduction was set to number 2.. also when setting the RF gain the incoming signals are either too high or to low, a proper RF gain would have worked so much better. Thanks

      @delboyonline ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DeltaXray444 I run the NRC on 1/2 on my CRT 7900V and it works very well.

      The 7900v is definitely up there and performs much better than the majority of other export radios, I don't use mine anywhere near as much as I should.

    Get a little black rubber usb socket cover, totally changes the look of the radio.

    • @DeltaXray444
      @DeltaXray444  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I may do that, I absolutely think this green cover look awful and abhorrent.. keep things as they are it's a radio and not a charge station.. what were these companies thinking. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    We get stuck with the FCC radios over here that they claim have no modifiable properties.😢

    • @DeltaXray444
      @DeltaXray444  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately that's very true.. I was telling you guys over there to buy the EU version McKinley and not the USA model.. but they eventually sorted that out and now you guys have an equal McKinley that recently came out.. the FCC can be ass's at times.

  • @NeedleBender785
    @NeedleBender785 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It would be nice if they did similar power numbers of an Anytone Quad 6 or a Stryker 955. Great looking radio, I just don't know anyone these days buying 4 watt radios. Unless of course you pair it with an LDMOS box.

    • @DeltaXray444
      @DeltaXray444  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a lot of variation with output power on these export type radios..
      This is basically a 40 channel AM FM SSB rig with standard power set to 4 watts on AM FM and around 12 watts pep on SSB.. but it throws out lots more in export mode, I've not had it on the pep meter and dummy load yet to see what it can actually do, I dare say though it won't be as much as the Stryker 955 or quad 6.

    How do you get into the service menu to adjust the audio?

    • @DeltaXray444
      @DeltaXray444  ปีที่แล้ว

      Im Still trying to find out myself, there is nothing in the menu options to turn the mod/dev up or down anymore than the 1-10 setting accessed from the front panel, I think it may be something that needs to be done inside the radio with potentiometers.. im itching to open it up to take a peek but at the same time I don't want to void the guarantee if anything goes wrong with it being a new radio. Catch 22.
      There's also no TOT that I can find either.

    • @delboyonline
      @delboyonline ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DeltaXray444 there are no internal adjustments, everything is done via a service menu apparently (just like the 7900V)

    • @DeltaXray444
      @DeltaXray444  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@delboyonlineyou can turn the radio up a little to number 10 by keying the mic in and pressing the RF gain and mic gain button on the front.. but it still sounds quiet with the standard mic.. if there is no internal adjustment then I guess the basic 1-10 setting is all there is..

    Lovely Radios, had mine about a week now, love it. I've done the conversion, power and opened the bands up they have so coverage to be fair. Only thing I don't like is the TOT, you cannot turn it off or adjust it

    • @DeltaXray444
      @DeltaXray444  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ahh ok I haven't noticed that but thanks for the input.. I don't usually key the mic down for long as I try to keep short overs when dxing.. but you have me intrigued now and I will go take a look.. although tbh I would have thought it would have been a standard feature to change the time on the TOT function as every other radio I have it can be done.. thanks again for your input it is much appreciated.

    • @roberthargrave2212
      @roberthargrave2212 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can adjust the TOT on the other similar radios, McKinley etc but not on the George II which is strange if there's a hidden service menu it may be adjustable in that, thanks for getting back I did enjoy the live stream thank you @@DeltaXray444

      You are correct there is no TOT per say that is mentioned in the menu although looking at the in-depth online manual it states the TOT is three minutes and once that time has elapsed the display will flash and the radio beeps until the mic key is let go.
      Glad you enjoyed the stream.

      Sounds like you are doing well with the dxing my friend, hang in there for those countries you want to speak with they will all eventually come around,.
      Take me it wasn't until last year I spoke to Australia for the first time in over forty years I could never get them I was always on the radio at the wrong time or the skip wasn't good enough.. then last year I finally made my first contact with Aussie land and the same day I got two more and now they are in my radio almost everyday and I can get them no problem now.. im stil listening out for you and you are on my contact list of stations to get. 73

      Hi, if you read some of the other replies I have made in the comments I have explained why the radio was set this way, the high end front noise is not good with this radio, so it's a juggling act to try and set it up properly incorporating the noise reduction function to try and even it out, it was set to number 2 during this session any more and the incoming audio starts to chip around the edges.. having it set on either 3-4-5 is a no no..But I agree with you 100%.
