- Hello everyone! Sorry it's been so quiet on the upload front. In case you haven't seen by now, Broman and I are working together on a SMiLE mix, so I've been a bit preoccupied. However, I knew I wanted to do something for the festive season, so here we go - a full remix of Little Saint Nick, replicating the single mix with the celeste and sleigh bells. I fully remixed the bass, guitars, piano, and drums from a mono backing track, with the vocals, celeste, and sleigh bells coming from the 2004 Christmas Album reissue.
I hope you all enjoy!
Leon Russell playing the piano like it’s a toy. What talent!
One of the best Christmas Songs ever 🎄
I’ve always loved it, even before I got into The Beach Boys. It’s so catchy and has such a great sound. Glad you enjoyed!
Sounds Awesome.
This was certainly due a new mix, glad all the overdubs were included too. Another Gwaunch W 🙌
Thanks for the comment! Yeah the official single mix is really weird - it starts with the album mix on one side (piano, guitars, bass, drums) and the single overdubs on the other side (celeste, bells) before transitioning to a muddy semi-mono mess. I was definitely happy to give it a refresh. Glad you enjoyed it!
@@gwaunch1967 You can blame Brian for that. So the Single Mix is a 3-Track. Track 1-Basic Track, Track 2-Extra Instruments and Track 3 is Mike's Triple Vocal. They actually recorded the Extra Instruments while Mike was doing his vocal sweetening.
@@danerd8978 Brian couldn't hear stereo completely because he is deaf in one ear, so he had Chuck Britz mix the 1960's songs into stereo on the albums, except for those that Brian wanted in mono (such as "The Beach Boys Today", "Summer Days And Summer Nights", "Pet Sounds" "Smiley Smile", and "Wild Honey", which were all mixed into Duophonic stereo in the 1960's. ) In the 1990's, Mark Linett was recruited to remix those old mono songs into stereo on the videos you find on TH-cam today. I'm sure Linett remixed this one into stereo since Brian still can't hear in stereo.
@@robertorick6383wait, David Leaf was brought in for remixing? That’s the first I’m hearing of this! As far as I know, Mark Linett has been the only engineer on all the remasters/remixes/compilations, etc.
@@gwaunch1967 You're probably right about Mark Linett. I may be exaggerating about the entire history of David Leaf's involvements. Sorry about the confusion.
Great job, buddy. Nobody could have done it better! 👏
Thanks man! I'm really pleased with how it came out, and your help along the way was a huge factor in that. Glad you like it!
Truly one of the best!
Great group with some of the regional leaders ❤🎉
Xmas comes this time each year
最高!
That's a lot of piano.
Too much piano, not enough everything else
You can't hear the piano on the other mixes.
Don`t like the piano
