Hey Legendriver, Pls check out my latest video. I have a fan that is making a weird noise but it still runs. Is it a bearing problem or does it just need a proper cleanup (the motor inside is very dusty)
only problem is these chinese made fans the bearings seize on them after quite a while plus the thermal fuse in the motors blow depending tow the motor is mounted on your fan i would for replacement use a US Motors 1690, Century FDL 1024, or Marathon X013 they are 3 speed, 1625 RPM 48 frame and are reversable as im doing a late 80s Patton U21887 with a bad samsung motor i tried a 48 frame motor and lucklly it bolted the back grille. im assuming they would too on these heavier chinese fans too. but the motor will protrude more. as they have a 1/2 shaft diameter if you have to drill your blade to that diameter. best of all the new motors have auto reset thermal protection if it goes off when its overheated and when it cools down it will come back on as these are PSC motors and will require a 10 MFD 370 VAC run capacitor if you need to replace the motor or upgrade to these 3 motors on that fan.
The bushing is made of steel that's why they fail. I have the same fan above put it says Optimus. Its stop running. After i toke it apart the grease was hard as a rock the bushing should be brass. I was able to grease it up with high temp grease but going to replace the steel bushings with brass.
Whoa! That's so powerful it's scary!! And I love that spindown
The Shroomer 98 thanks! This fan is a beast; it does move a lot of air
Great air mover, great noise maker, great fan
Thanks! I enjoyed the video your Lasko 2002W!
TheSuperFanMan you responded to yourself
It was another TH-camr who commented and I replied to him, not to myself. I guess he deleted his comment that's why it seems like I replied to myself.
