I love that you embrace the AI tools rushing at us without fear! And I also love your caution to authors reminding us that CHAT4 will NOT write our books for us. I've found after several months working with it that it often defaults to bad writing mistakes such as use of passive voice or constantly backing into sentences with prepositional phrases. After all, it's been trained on everything out there, not just Shakespeare. And there's an awful lot of really bad writing it's absorbed.

I don't use AI much, but I do use it to generate templates (that I then fill out and edit) for my YT videos. I started using it well before the AI boom began and I didn't think anything of it. It simply was (and is) a nice tool to help me get something done. I still have this perspective on AI, so it's wonderful to see your practical #noboringbooks suggestions for how and why to use AI tech, Julie. It's both refreshing and inspirational. 🙂

I use it for adcopy for all of my social media posts, I use it for story idea for my children’s book line, I use it for hashtags, content creation, ideas literally for everything, book titles, marketing strategies, how to get my books into certain platforms, and so much more! Always love your videos. I have been training in CANVA for two years now. And they always surprise me with something new. But you are correct, AI lacks emotions, opinions, and personal experiences which is what makes a book more enjoyable. I'll check out some of the other sites you mentioned. On a final note anything obtained through AI is non- copyright. And it must be claimed when you file.

I used AI to generate ideas for a book blurb for another author by putting in her chapter titles and longer synopsis. A professor told her that her book was now at risk of being stolen because I did this. I use AI just like you do, and it provides solid thought-provoking ideas that help me write better. I don't use what it writes, but I look at what it does to the content I give it. I especially like it when I put in articles I write and ask it what it thinks about them. It gives a detailed response with strengths and weaknesses with suggestions for improvements. Did I put this author's book at risk? I've never heard of that.

    • @BookLaunchers
      @BookLaunchers  ปีที่แล้ว

Anyone that publishes a book has the risk of their book and ideas being stolen. Jane Friedman has been all over the news lately because scammers attached to her Goodreads account and sold books under her name.
Essentially, we are all going to have our best stuff stolen. Is it going to be because you fed some of it to AI - no. It's going to be because you created something worth stealing and someone saw a path to a quick buck the dishonest way.
You didn't put your friends book at risk at being stolen. Some of the ideas MAY be used to train AI for future uses depending on what you used. This is going to be common practice though. Some places like Zoom are disclosing they are training AI using content and that is happening but training something and copying something are two different things.

    • @BookLaunchers

Yes if you are good at giving it a good prompt. You have to warm up Chat GPT first - like you would explain things to a VA - and then ask for what you want. I do use it to spice up some of my videos. The results can be a little over the top and hilarious (you'll see one coming out soon that I used ChatGPT to layer an analogy throughout and it really took me to a new level. All that said, one thing I like to ask it after I train it on my tone and taste is "read this passage. please suggest an analogy or an example from history that will be compelling and appropriate for this story. Remember that I want to get the readers attention but this also must be true. Please provide your source afterwards."

In my opinion, the self publishing community is made up of writers, editors, illustrators and cover designers - all of whom are artists that will LOSE income because the author decided to use AI instead of the talent of those wonderful human beings who collaborate to make a book a great work of art.
I understand that some people care more about saving a buck than keeping their editor in business. But if you do have the resources to engage human editors and visual artists why wouldn't you?
I say keep the community strong. AI makes us all our own little islands while shouldering out human beings who in the past were our team.
And what about proof-readers? Beta-readers? Can AI replace them? Why not just use AI to write your reviews for you? Since we're now in the business of cheating the process, why not go all in?
I realize many will not like this comment. I'm still a subscriber. I do love this channel, but I just can't get excited about ramming AI into the process of creating a book. I just think that in the long run we will have created a market that renders fully human-created books a novelty. Maybe that's a good thing. Maybe not.

When filling for copyright anything gained by AI must claimed when filling for copyright. If you filed prior to the news update at the copyright office you might want to update your claim to avoid any further problems. You do not have to identify every little part- just state that AI was used. I hope you found this helpful. For more information you can check with the US Copyright Office.

(Goodwill) goes a long way in selling books. Goodwill is refered to by those you know in the community who will buy your book. A lot of the appearance of massive books sold on Amazon were not sold but given away, then those authors change the cover and transfered the reviews to the new cover so it looks like they sold a lot of books when in actuality they were freebies. People don't spend good money on unsaleable stuff. Unfortunately, when author's play games like the above mentioned if leaves them open for being under sold by the folks who got the book free.

    • @NickGossAuthor

and the cost of running ads on HUMAN-authored books will become too prohibitive. In the end, the reader is cheated by deception - fed sterile content to soothe their withering soul. Lazy 'authors' now get equal reward with the talented masters... and the lazy reader will buy empty calorie RoboLit that eventually, will rot their love for literature and reading.
Wow. :/ AI really is making the world a better place.

As authors and writers ourselves we are seeing the market flooded with new authors who are effectively cheating their way to the top by using AI to write content to which they can put their name. I think we will see Amazon flooded with inane books with awful covers and candy-floss content! AI will make it harder to find the real books! It is already happening, there are 'companion guides' to popular books, that look AI-written. A lot of these piggyback books are under 200 pages even under 100 pages.
