Since you didn’t pick up on it, the credits show that Magolor after murdering the tree demon went through a portal with the Gem Apple seed and landed in the Dream Kingdom, the setting for the Kirby Clash spinoff games where Magolor is the shop keeper. Previously no one knew why Magolor was the shop keeper and acted all nice and for some reason Magolor recognized Kirby despite Kirby never meeting him before. This is because Magolor already has met the original Kirby from the main timeline where he got defeated and so recognizes this alternate version of Kirby. Magolor then planted the Gem Apple Seed which became the Gem Apple Tree, which in the Clash games always had that golden vine wrapped around it. As it turns out that’s the remnants of the Master Crown.
After Magolor sells you everything he has in the Clash games he switches to his blue and yellow outfit, implying he’s preparing to leave his shop and go find a way to his original dimension to apologize to his original Kirby and build the theme park, Merry Magoland. Magolor later returns in Star Allies with the abilities attained from his trip to Hell to aid Kirby in fighting the evil force of Void Termina, who wields similar if not the same power as the Master Crown.
This whole situation means that the funky spin-off games ARE canon, however some of them belong to separate universes or timelines. There is a Kirby Multiverse. This also means that Galacta Knight, a character only properly seen by Kirby in the Clash games EXISTS. Whether Galacta comes from this timeline and jumps to the main one or the main Galacta Knight finally shows himself to challenge Kirby is unknown but it seems like Galacta Knight is slowly getting closer and closer to being a foe for Kirby to fight for real.

The gold on the Gem Apple Tree has nothing to do with the Master Crown, there's literally gold on the Apple itself before the Master Crown possesses it. You can even see smaller gold tendrils from the tree wrapping around the Master Crown in its boss form.

So, about that ending: it’s a reference to the Kirby Clash series, in which Magolor runs the game’s equipment shop, using Gem Apples as currency. Before the Magolor Epilogue, it was thought that Kirby Clash was non-canon, or at least in a separate canon than the main series; now we know that it’s all connected. The problem, though, is that Gem Apples are Kirby Clash’s microtransaction currency, meaning Magolor is now participating in one of the greatest blights to the gaming industry.
So yeah, I say he’s still evil.

actually, this is still in a "what if" timeline because in the intro cutscene of the Epilogue, you can see that it's [REDACTED] and not the second form from the main story mode (look at the wings and headgear). Given that everything that isn't the main story mode (including Extra Modes) is noncanon.

Things Magolor Epilogue explain: Where he went after he was defeated in the main game, why he shows up as and Ally in Star Allies, can use the Ultra Sword despit not having copy abilities (He also apperantly rebrand his magic bombs to be apples like the final bosses own), and why he's on good terms with the Lor again.
And most importantly, why the side game had micro transactions!

  • @PaintraSeaPea
    @PaintraSeaPea ปีที่แล้ว +15

As other people pointed out, the ending with Magolor running a shop does tie into the Kirby Clash games (Which I think would be fun to do on this channel eventually! The one on the switch. There's a lot of fun callbacks to a ton of games), but it's also explained WHY he's running the shop in his Extra Mode dialogue, which I think would be fun to give a look. In my opinion, that dialogue is really where things start to clear up on what exactly Magolor's status is as a villain or friend. Not kidding, it's some of my favorite new information they put into this remake, just because it sort of adds another level to his character when you think about the implications.
ALSO: there actually is more dialogue on each of the abilities in the epilogue than what you've read, that only unlocks if you FULLY upgrade everything. I think that's probably what people were asking you to look at the most. It's nothing CRUCIAL, but it offers a little more than just "Oh, so he's just bad!"
Oh and on the topic of retro games! I think it would actually make a lot of sense to tackle Super Star Ultra *before* you do all the extra mode stuff in this game, if you were planning on taking a break before essentially doing the whole game again. It's really only for a few callbacks, but it would be interesting to see if you catch on to any of it. DL3 and 64 would probably make sense to do after SSU, since SSU *heavily* ties into a few things in Robobot (and Super Star was before DL3, so it's not gonna have spoilers or anything like that)

About Magolor being evil or good:
Although some of Magolor's thoughts do hint at him still being kinda evil, I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them had been changed during translation (that sometimes happens across the games, though as far as I know there's only 1 kinda important Magolor pause screen not in the epilogue that makes him look more evil than it was in the original text)
But even then, the point of the Magolor epilogue was for him to regain his powers through the apple, and once he realized the crown was still alive at the end, he did what he could to destroy it once and for all. One secret pause screen says that it was his way of atoning for his mistakes. So even though he may still be mischevious or not necessarily a really good person, he still tried to turn over a new leaf and start again after all was said and done. He did help Kirby in a few games after this one after all (two spinoff ones and then also Star Allies)

A few musical fun facts: The final area's theme is called "Onward to a Pain My Heart Knows Well", which implies Magolor knows what's about to happen, that he's about to face the Master Crown and that he's very much NOT looking forward to it. Then, the music that olays during that final clash with Magolor's Ultra Sword is "Settling a Score ~ Atone for One's Misdeeds!" This and some of Magolor's other dialogue from various places (yes, including the upgrade dialogue, he does say some stuff there that is not incriminating) shows that he does actually think what he did was wrong, and wants to redeem himself.

The final images in the credits reference the now canonical spinoff game super kirby clash, a boss rush action rpg freetoplay with micro transaction managed by magolor, so he still is a villain kinda, but the game is filled with content and rad remixes so being freetoplay is fair

I feel like a good rule of thumb to remember with the Kirby series is that the characters are very easily forgiven, in-line with the themes of the games. In the same way the Kirby and friends instantly befriended the Beast Pack after the Forgotten Land and rescuing Hyness was a part of the happy ending of Star Allies despite his heinous actions, its worth assuming that Magolor has turned over a new leaf as well. He didn’t do a lot to “redeem” himself, but that’s fine. As long as he doesn’t try anything again he’s good. And if he does try anything again Kirby will just stop him because Kirby is an unkillable godking

So yeah the final boss is basically Magolor atoning for his crimes by destroying the object he so desperately wanted to rule the universe.
Also if you're a little confused by the credits scene you can play super kirby clash to get some more context. It's a free to play game on the switch, and altough I would like to see you guys play it on the channel it's not exactly a very... let's play friendly game, if that makes sense? It has some very cool stuff, ESPECIALLY the final parts of the game, but I think it's better suited for a livestream or just some highlight clips, up to you though.

The Ending: This is stating a direct link to the Kirby Clash series of side games, as others have said. Yet again, Kirby is a series that, these days, expects you to have played the past games in order to get all the references. If you haven't, you're gonna be very confused very often.

So people have speculated, and im inclined to agree, that the background for the Master Crown fight is a flashback to the fall of halcandra, and what we see is Egg Engines, the 6th world, in flames, probably due to the action of one of the Master Crowns previous hosts. In essence, Magolor obliterating that thing once and for all was atonement not just for himself, but all those once tempted by the Master Crowns power. Its seems theres conflicting opinions over whether Magolor actually redeemed himself in the epilogue, but permanently destroying the power the he and so many others had tried to use to cause harm to so many people? Id say thats at least a start.

I’d explain the significance of those ending pictures, but I feel the other comments have done that well enough. I will mention that Another Dimension is the area where you fight Magolor in the main game as well as where Heroes in Another Dimension from Star Allies takes place, while I believe the area where Magolor Epilogue takes place, while thematically similar, is supposed to be something different. It’s kinda unclear, but it seems to be some kind of hellish afterlife, which would make sense since Magolor’s supposed to be atoning for his sins.
Magolor’s upgrade comments are really just fun flavour text, so you don’t really need to read it all if you don’t want to, but I will say that Upwards Magic Sphere Level 1’s comment is my personal favourite.
Since no one’s really talking about the extra stage, I might as well. It unlocks when you have at least gold on every other stage, which you thankfully did (the game would tell you otherwise). It’s a medley of several different interdimensional vortex stages from the main game (the ones that lead up to the Sphere Doomers), and I believe the ground in this stage is the original “demastered” textures from the Wii version. It’s hard to tell, but it’d be neat if so. The first song that plays here is a remix of Magolor’s theme from the 20th Anniversary Dream Collection’s New Challenge Stages, and the second song is a remix of C-R-O-W-N-E-D (the main game’s final boss theme) from Dedede’s Drum Dash Deluxe on the 3DS.
Looking forward to the Extra Mode streams! And if you do return to Magolor Epilogue, do be on the lookout for that HAL room, okay? ;)
As for game suggestions, my intense bias for Super Star Ultra says to do that game next, since it’s one of the best games in the series and has some references to it in Robobot, but you do you! I’d be down for Triple Deluxe, the rest of the Dark Matter Trilogy, or any other Kirby game you decide to do next. It’s been fun (especially as a Kirby fan) watching you guys experience this series, so keep it up!
Edit: Oh, one more thing! The Master Crown’s boss theme remixes various songs from the Kirby Clash series and is also really good ok that’s all bye

  • @Tanner-Barlow

You missed the Crowned Doomer pause screen description but you can read it during the true boss rush. The Master Crown's theme is Mistilteinn, Tree Crown without a Ruler. There is only a text box for max upgrading Magolor that just says you did it! have fun! because it does take a while but you will want to max upgrade the levitation ability and read the maxed out text. As far as whether or not Magolor is good or not... HE'S COMPLETELY EVIL NOW! That little gem apple he's holding is a reference to the spin off games Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Super Kirby Clash where those gem apples are microtransactions. In all seriousness though it is meant to be that he's good and helping now. The extra stage is running through all the portals opened with super abilities in the main game which is why they are so familiar.
I do think Triple Deluxe would be a good game to play next but I also would recommend Super Star Ultra before Planet Robobot for lore reasons.
Also since you missed the pre level 4 boss max upgrade text they are all puns or jokes but now that I know you missed them I'll put them here. If you want to see the true max upgrade text you can also find those on wikirby or you can let me know and I'll put them as a reply to this comment. (taken from wikirby)

Magic Bomb: "I can't boost this any further for now, but there must be ways to make it stronger... Normally, I'd be bursting with ideas!"
Magolor Surge: "I can't boost this any further for now, but I'm close to figuring it out... Feels like my mind is racing!"

General consensus is that yes Magolor is good now. He’s always been a Mischievous Little Fuck, but the only reason he did actual evil was because the Master Crown was calling to him so it could use his body and powers. Now he lives in Dream Land building amusement parks that you can see in a bunch of spin-offs, like Dedede’s Drum Dash and the 20th Anniversary Dream Collection, and helping Kirby out when he can like in Star Allies.

The final pictures refer to the spinoff serie Kirby Clash, where you can find a suspiciously familiar merchant that sells you apple gems, the unique currency used to purchase items in that game. So yeah, after trying to conquer the world with the power of an evil crown, Magolor settled on the much more reliable power of capitalism and microtransactions.
(Btw, while it's only now confirmed that, yes, that Magolor IS indeed the real Magolor, in Star Allies already it had been hinted in his pause screen as well as one of his attacks being explosive apple gems).

      SOURCE MATERIAL:
A Nintendo Dream Interview back in 2018 discussed with Kumazaki, the lead developer of Star Allies, the reasoning behind "Kirby's Face" on Void. It has nothing to do with "Kirby's species being one of the Four Matters." In reality, it explains that Void's soul was finishing being birthed, and that the "orb" form we see simply mimicked Kirby because it was the first face it saw.

I forgot that the Crowned Doomer was supposed to feel like they were taking place in the hub area because my quest for perfect comboes on bosses caused me to quit out of the fight and go back in.
Especially because quitting out on the Master Crown sends you back before the Crowned Doomer.
I love how you fight a sequence of bosses from the game skipping Whispy but then you go back to the first area that you are at in the game and you fight a tree still
If you grinded exp at any point then you could've had all the fully upgraded skills for the final boss, they're just sort of an extra thing for dedicated player
You should've simply killed Master Crown before the full screen hit /j (It IS possible though and required for a perfect combo since the jumping takes so long)
    29:54 is so romantic

I actually almost feel like they could have a similar experience to starting with Star Allies is they play Robobot before Super Star lol A few moments of "that's really cool, I don't understand it but it's cool" and then going to play Super Star and getting that "ohh, it's still weird but I get it now" moments lol

Personally, I think it's hilarious that you've experienced the games backwards!
I agree with your assesment of the order- I think Triple Deluxe is the better newer game to start, and I think dreamland 3 or super star (or its remake) are the best old games to do for now. Plus they're co-op!
No matter what, I'm glad you're playing these Kirby series. It's always a treat to see new people enjoy the franchice! And while I understand probably wanting a break, maybe stream extra mode sometime in the future? It's pretty hard, but I think pretty fun, and Id
I'd love to see y'all take it on!

  • @eduardoaugusto9206
    @eduardoaugusto9206 ปีที่แล้ว

Well, you haven't streamed in a bit, so a livestream for full platinum on Magolor Epilogue would be... pretty quick! I guess you could enjoy the situation and upgrade Maolor's skills even further and read the little quips he has about reaching max level on a specific stat, you never got to read those.
But of course, we still have to take care of Extra Mode in order to see you play through the True Arena, and I can assure you that is something that everyone wants to see! (the True Arena, that is). A livestream for Extra Mode is probably the best course of action, but a separate Let's Play playlist for Extra Mode doesn't sound like such a bad idea either. Remember, there are the EX bosses you have to fight in there, some of which have brand new attacks to defend against and also, you have a singular cutscene near the end of Extra Mode that is a bit different form how it is in Normal Mode.
I also said that the Extra Mode of this game might be canon instead of Normal Mode because the version of Magolor that you fight in Extra Mode is the one that appears in the opening cutscene for the Magolor Epilogue. You should compare them yourself, the Magolor that you saw in the opening cutscene for Magolor Epilogue is not exactly the same as the one you fought at the end of Normal Mode.
As for games to follow up on? Well, I'm not entirely certain how you will get to record footage from 3DS games. I wonder what you will come up with on that one. But Ian did say it correctly: You should play Triple Deluxe before Planet Robobot. Some things from Robobot are straight up spoilers from Triple Deluxe, so remember that. But, y'know, we will gladly wait for the 3DS games if it means that you will tackle the classic games in the meantime!
In reality, the only games you have left to play are Dreamland 3, Kirby 64, Kirby Super Star, Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot. Yes, Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad are both part of the main series as well, but you don't have to play them to understand anything that's going on, so feel free to play them whenever. It doesn't really matter in which order you choose to play the classic games you have left, but remember to pick Triple Deluxe first when playing the 2 remaining modern Kirby games. I mean, you chose to start the clasic games in order sooo, might as well continue that order, right?

First off as I've stated before, the Extra Mode and what it unlocks is definitely worth doing imo. Maybe you could stream it or even do it off part for the most of it? I wouldn't care as long as we get to see the boss fights because the EX bosses are real fun.
As for the next steps, I'd hold off on Triple Deluxe still. It's fine to do now, but there's a pretty big reveal in the post game that calls back to a game you haven't played yet. Instead I'd actually be fine with Super Star Ultra taking up the Modern Kirby game slot as it's kind of a precursor to the RtD style games despite being a remake of an older game.
Finally, the next game to take the older Kirby game slot should probably be Dream Land 3 followed by Kirby 64 The Crystal Shards to wrap up the Dark Matter Trilogy.

Hey guys if you wanna know what happened to Magolor go play Super Kirby Clash, but I recomend play for just one episode

  • @Yirggzmb
    @Yirggzmb ปีที่แล้ว

You didn't need max bomb. You needed spikes lol Magolor has so many abilities that it's easy to forget.
A lot of these enemies are otherwise only seen in the shmup section, and maybe some of Magolor's attacks where he summons stuff to attack you.
The exploding clouds give everyone trouble lol They're actually pretty hard to see. I think it's an interesting chaotic fight overall though
I've been dying to see your reaction to the final boss. It's so visually amazing and a lot of the attacks are such a jump scare. Master Crown features a lot of attacks from past True Final Bosses, but mixed with some of the tree boss tropes, it's hilarious.
I think the reason you can keep upgrading abilities is so that if you have trouble, you can go back and grind magic points and upgrade to give yourself more power.
Yep, Casey has got it. It's the crown merged with the apple.
Magolor creating his own Ultra Sword is such a badass cutscene. It's not important, but Magolor actually has his own design for the Ultra Sword that's different from Kirby's. He also uses that same design in Star Allies where his down up attack is just "summon ultra sword lol". Really, this whole epilogue just kinda ties in his whole Star Allies moveset.
The level acronym honestly isn't a big deal. It's neat and a fun Easter egg. But that's about it lol
So Magolor doesn't go back right away. Everyone in the comments has already gone on about it lol So instead I'll talk a bit about the history of why this is pretty awesome and also why it's not going to mean anything to you lol
Team Kirby Clash Deluxe is a free to play eShop spin off for the 3ds. It takes place in an alternate world. You're in the Dream Kingdom (not Dream Land) and it's sorta medieval themed, and the whole premise is that you and a bunch of other Kirby's are taking on big monsters that are plaguing the land. And in it, a green clad Magolor sells you gear. The currency of his shop is gem apples and assorted elemental fragments you get from monsters. Gem apples come from a tree in town square that you can harvest twice a day, or you can buy them from Magolor for real money. And when you buy apples, the gem apples tree gets bigger, giving you a larger yield when you harvest. There is also a "plays exactly the same but technically the story is different" sequel on the Switch called Super Kirby Clash.
So the credits depict Magolor exiting a portal with an apple sapling, and setting up shop in the Castle Village that serves as the hub of Team Kirby Clash Deluxe. Magolor didn't go home right away. Magolor fell out into another universe where he plants a gem apple tree, sets up shop, and sells gear to other Kirbys for a while.
(Also, there's Clash music sprinkled about in some of the epilogue music, but the credits music just straight up transitions into the main Clash theme right before they start showing those images.)
Clash Magolor and regular Magolor being one and the same is new information to a lot of people who just assumed it was an alternate Magolor. It's hinted that they're maybe the same in game - if you max out the tree size in TKCD (aka buy him out of apples, there's a hard limit) or I think buy all of his gear, he will change back into his blue clothes and have some dialogue that calls back to his betrayal speech in RtDL...before remembering that the Kirby of this universe wouldn't get it. I think it might be the same in SKC but I haven't checked. There's also a really obscure (as in I don't think it was even known about in the English speaking world until a few months before RtDL DX came out) interview from like 2017 talking about how Magolor is the same, but I genuinely don't expect people to have actually seen it. The only reason I know about it is because I know a lot of people who are bigger nerds about this stuff than even I am. So I'm pretty sure these credits are Kumazaki tying the two together so it's just plainly on screen.
Also of note, in Star Allies, Magolor has "gem apple bombs" instead of the more normal bombs. At the time it came out it was just "haha funny Clash reference" but then the big tree boss happens here and uses gem apples as similar bombs. It's just funny.
I love the extra stage so much. It's a combination of EVERY Another Dimension stage that Kirby runs through in the main game. Also that song is from a different weird 3ds eShop spin off - Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe. There's a rendition of "Crowned", one of Magolor's boss themes, but done in a slightly silly style with goofy instruments. And yes, it's a great grind stage for magic points.
    86 combo, let's go!
And I had a similar "backwards" approach to the series inspired by Star Allies. I had grown up playing Adventure and played RtDL when it was new. Bits and pieces of others maybe. But Star Allies was full of cool characters I didn't know and it got me to play them all. It's FUN doing that in my opinion. Plus if you ever go replay Star Allies just for fun, you'll catch a lot of references making it almost like a second first playthrough. It's rare to have that opportunity

I'm also gonna write a second comment about play order. I don't actually think it matters! People were worried about you playing Star Allies basically as your second game ever, because there ARE a lot of references to past games. But you still had a blast and now you're getting the experience of recognizing stuff retroactively. I think that's pretty cool actually. And I feel like it's a similar case with Robobot. There's a ton of references to stuff from Super Star. But much like Star Allies, it's hard to tell how much of that is "crucial" to enjoying the game, and how much is just people wanting you to experience stuff the way they did.
Triple Deluxe and Robobot have nothing in common storywise. In fact, I'd go do far as to almost call them opposites in story. One is magic and fairytale themed. The other is robots and tech themed. But i think the reason people suggest TDX first is because RtDL -> TDX -> PR build on each other in terms of level design tropes. It's a sorta escalation, and it's interesting from an evolution of the gameplay perspective. But the stories will not make any more or less sense regardless of the order you play the modern games.
I'd love to see TDX first, but that's because I personally like it more than Robobot. But seriously do what you want.

They don't have any way to play Amazing Mirror as the game is currently not on the Swiych Online (It has been announced that it is coming tho) and I doubt that they have a Gameboy Advance lying around to play Luckily, they can play Triple Deluxe first without too much worry.

Huh, for some reason TH-cam has this showing up as Kirby's Adventure, you might want to change that if it's an option.
While I'm very much part of the group that would watch a full let's play of extra mode, I also completely get why you wouldn't do that, since it wouldn't be good for the channel (thanks youtube algorithm =( ).
    Happy belated birthday, Casey!
For me, the final Biblically Accurate Whispy Woods boss here is on par with Fecto/Chaos Elfilis for coolest-looking boss design in Kirby. Also, that battle actually has three pause screens, one for the Crowned Doomer, one for the tree, and one sneaky one when you're doing the final attack. I haven't looked, but other commenters have probably covered the text of the ones you missed.
The additional levels to all the abilities feel mostly like a reward/a way to help you get platinums on everything.
No, just the one ending. Which, as others have pointed out, leads into the Kirby Clash spinoff microtransaction game.
Yeah, the extra stage is a fun gauntlet through most? all? of the autoscroller sections from the main game, modified for Magalor. No, there isn't a secret to the right at the end of the last one, I checked.
Patinuming everything and just enjoying the op-ness of Magalor's mostly/fully upgraded abilities is indeed quite fun, go for it if you want to!
The big one you want to do before Robobot is Super Star/Super Star Ultra. But whatever comes next in the BLG Kirby saga (Karkat version), I'm very much looking forward to it!

I kinda think the ending sucks for anyone not fully into Kirby, although even as a huge fan, I was unsatisfied ngl (I seem to be alone however) There’s a lot of information on the ending hidden everywhere that is required to fully understand it, some locked behind Extra Mode, so I’m very disappointed with how it was handled. That said, the final boss is so unbelievably cool!!
