That's why in the description, they said that the series won't end here. They're aware that there's plenty of other game modes than just the story mode. ;)
Okay, just so y’all are aware in the future, certain really important bosses, like Hyness and Void Termina, have different pause screen descriptions depending on the phase, so I gathered the ones you missed! Hyness Unhooded: His once carefully concealed face now exposed, Hyness is on the rampage! Tossing the three unconscious sisters around like rag dolls, it’s clear he’s lost his grip on reality. It’s up to the Star Allies to bring an end to this nightmare, and save...everything! Void Termina Core: The shocking true form of Void Termina has been revealed! Born from the total absence of care and composed of dark energy, he has awakened from a state of mere existence to that of true sentience. He now desires only one thing… to CRUSH all opposition! Void Wing Phase: Rise! Oh, Dark Lord of Despair! Crush the stars! Lay waste to care! Upon your wing, dark judgment bring! May your symphony of tragedy cause the end of everything! Void Final Phase: As the the spring breeze blows, a young traveler appears. After greeting new friends and bidding farewell to old ones, his path has finally led him here. Let’s beat this guy already! After that, lunch and a nap! And sometimes it’ll change again depending on the mode you’re on, so I’d recommend keeping an eye out!
“Is Kirby an eldritch god?” To put it simply… Possibly. Also planet robobot is considered one of the best Kirby games, so it would be nice to see you play it.
if anyone in the mood to read the full rant from hyness, heres the full thing: "We are the masters of a power driven to the far reaches of the universe, and we have but one desire! Can one such as you possibly fathom how dearly we have clung to this dream across the aeons? How could you! You couldn't! Never ever ever! We who once faced those who were in such fear of our power that they sealed us away and banished us to the edge of the galaxy! US! We alone were responsible for stopping that repulsive nightmare of a galactic crisis, yet this is how you repay us! This won't stand! It won't be forgiven! It won't be forgotten! Never ever EVER! Those who called us mad, are you listening? You left us at the edge of the galaxy to be forgotten, then went along your merry way, probably living somewhere pretty and peaceful! But know this! Your future is a farce! You have none! We, masters of a matter most dark, vow to be restored, as foretold in the book of legend, which everyone thought was just a fairy tale! It WASN'T! We have already obtained the vessel that contains our Dark Lord, and he will soon awaken and shower us in compassion! Look! The vessel of our Dark Lord is filling up even as we speak! Now the time for his greatness to enter our world has come! Welcome to a new history! A new age! The age of awesome! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DARK LORD! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
Congratulations, you have now finished about 1/3 of this game! No but seriously, this game is far from done and I can't wait to see you guys play through all the different modes!
Boy oh boy, 7 brand new pause screen descriptions on a single video, I knew this day would come when I started doing this and yet I wasn't ready (it took me 30 minutes to type all this), anyway... VS Zan Partizanne (2) "Zan Partizanne swore an oath of loyalty to Hyness---even thought he has yet to remember her overly long name! Her respect for Hyness never falters, thanks to his intoxicating charisma and her deep sense of duty (and despite his poor treatment of her)." VS Hyness "Hyness worships a deity of destruction whom he plans to bring back to life. However, a rite gone wrong has led to the dark power he needs being scattered across the galaxy. Now he seeks to gather this power at an altar. Stop him, Star Allies!" VS Hyness (Unhooded) "His once carefully concealed face now exposed, Hyness is on the rampage! Tossing the three unconscious sisters around like rag dolls, it's clear he's lost his grip on reality. It's up to the Star Allies to bring an end to this nightmare, and save... everything!" VS Void Termina "Rise! Oh, Dark Lord of Despair! Crush the stars! Lay waste to care! Rise and cover the land in sorrows! May your symphony of emptiness bring the end of all tomorrows!" VS Void Termina (Phase 2) "The shocking true form of Void Termina has been revealed! Born from the total absence of care and composed of dark energy, he has awakened from a state of mere existence to that of true sentience. He now desires only one thing... *to CRUSH all opposition!* " VS Void Termina (Phase 3) "Rise! Oh, Dark Lord of Despair! Crush the stars! Lay waste to care! Upon your wing, dark judgment bring! May your symphony of tragedy cause the end of everything!" VS Void Termina (Phase 4) "As the spring breeze blows, a young traveler appears. After greeting new friends and bidding farewell to old ones, his path has finally led him here. Let's beat this guy already! *After that, lunch and a nap!* "
I would think Planet Robobot would be the better choice, although I do kinda think it would be a good finisher if you decided to also play Triple Deluxe after Return to Dream Land. In the end, I think it just depends on how long the rest of Star Allies takes you, Squeak Squad is considerable shorter than Planet Robobot, so that’s something to keep in mind
Can't wait for you to react to the complete Kirby lore, to put all the pieces together... in a year or two, once you played all the (lore relevant) Kirby games. Regarding the next Kirby game, Squeak Squad is a game that can be completed in a few hours, it would be a very fast and easy serie; that said... it's not really story focused, it barely has a plot, which is much more of a thing in recent Kirby games. And Planet Robobot is legit amazing, so my vote goes to that. About the 3 extra game modes you unlocked, : "Guest Star ????" makes out probably half of this game's content but it's the one you'll probably won't care to 100% (you'll see why); "The Ultimate Choice" is this game's Arena, and just like the Colosseum in Forgotten Lands it does add some lore pieces at the harder difficulties, but it's up to you if you want to challenge yourself (it can get... quite challenging). The one that is probably most important to complete is "Heroes in Another Dimension", which is almost akin to the Isolated Isles (post game of Forgotten Lands).
Oh yeah! Definitely go for Planet Robobot first! Also it has been awesome watching y’all play these games! And oh, yeah absolutely play those last three game modes that appeared at the end, they got some new content, basically are continuations of the story! And got some juicy lore in there
Please play the post game stuff, it's where a lot of the LORE (tm) is waiting. I advise "Guest Star" next, followed by "Heroes in Another Dimension", then finally try your hand at the Arena's hardest modes for a true finale!
I had to slow down Hyness' unhinged moment to finally learn what it said. I barely caught any of it during my playthrough. I knew you guys were going to be blown away by Void Termina. It definitely caught me off guard after a long time of not playing Kirby, and that last button mashing along with all the friends showing up left me in awe. Easily one of the few times an ending left me misty eyed 😨
Honestly, at this point you can just go backwards, so robot -> triple deluxe -> return to Dreamland e.t.c. So yeah, I definitely would love to see robobot next
25:10 now that you two have played Return to Dreamland that crown should look a lot more familiar and 27:02 you will recognize from Dreamland 2 now aswell
The Guest Star Star Allies Go! Mode is a mode where you play the game as a character that isn’t Kirby, don’t worry, it’s not the full story mode. The Ultimate Choice is a mode where you fight the bosses with breaks in between, some of the fights are more difficult! Hero’s in Another Dimension is a extra batch of story, make sure to play it! It’s the way to get the True Ending. Let me know if you saw this!
I think you forgot to upload part 17. At the end of part 16 we saw you unlock the jabandra base & at the begining of this one it's already completed alongside an extra planet.
It was absolutely fun to see you guys play through the game!! I'm SO EXCITED to see you guys play through the extra modes!! There's a lot of awesome stuff hidden in the game past the story mode!!!
What I'm most interested in is you finishing this game, (guest star and heroes in another dimension) but out of the two options I haven't played either so I'm up for whatever the majority votes on.
I would love to see you guys play Squeak Squad sometime! I guess, out of all the Kirby games, it's considered one of the weaker ones, but personally I really really like it!
I know there are more videos in this series, most likely going to 100% the game, but if you still read the comments on old videos Ian and Casey: you guys are a joy to watch and listen to. The stories are silly but not over the top, your voices aren't overly loud or comical but are still engaging, and your brand of humor is very casual and comfortable. I love y'all's content and am excited to finish this series and watch your other Kirby playthroughs!
Ah yes, the exposition dump that shook literally the entire fandom! That rant that Hyness did? Literally half of the series lore is in that rant. But yeah, you're definitely not done with this game. I actually forgot that all three game modes unlocked after you beat Story Mode. In terms of the best way to follow through with them, I'd say that the Guest Star mode is the way to go first, I don't think it's canon, but it offers quite a good amount of surprises in the middle. As for The Ultimate Choice... well, the Ultimate Choice is basically the Boss Rush mode of the game, thing is you can choose your difficulty there, and extra difficulties with extra things unlock later on, more specifically when you do Heroes in Another Dimension. So basically, Guest Star, then Heroes in Another Dimension, then The Ultimate Choice. You can do Chop Champs and Star Slam Heroes whenever you feel like it. As for another Kirby game to play after this one?... Well, if you can't get your hands on either version of Return to Dreamland, go for Planet Robobot. It's seriously a fun game, Squeak Squad is fun too, but I pick PR over SS. Besides, can you even record 3DS footage? If not, there are emulators out there, but y'know, Return to Dreamland is another option if you wanna solve the problem of recording 3DS footage later. Sidenote: You ain't slick Ian. We noticed that you didn't record the video where you went through the other two levels before the final level. :) Just kidding. You probably recorded it but it never appeared for us.
A not at all terrifying detail! In addition to resembling kirby, the attacks and forms that void termina takes throughout that entire fight references almost EVERY OTHER FINAL BOSS OF THE SERIES. Implying that not only kirby, but also almost every other major baddie from the series comes from the same source. This games lore is fuckin nuts.
Ooh, so you just posted the final episodes of the main story! Nice. You might find interesting to know, the director of this game, Shinya Kumazaki (now General Director of the Kirby series), said that he made the final boss of the game with the image of 'I want to play this game so I can fight the final boss'. Honestly that could apply to all the games he's directed. I will agree the spectacle of the final boss is equal to Planet Robobot's, though I do think it's way easier than any of the other final bosses in Kumazaki Kirby games. His first was Super Star Ultra on the DS, a remake of Super Star on the SNES, but his first original game he directed was Return to Dream Land, which as you've mentioned is coming to Switch now! As for what the final boss is... well unfortunately, many people in your comments probably (incorrectly) confirmed your first impression that Kirby is a God born from Void, or that Void will eventually become one of Kirby's species. It's unfortunate because that's not the truth, and it comes from a combination of mistranslated text and generally being too vague on Kumazaki's part. Kumazaki has mentioned that Forgotten Land was the first time he's actually worked with localization teams to make sure they understand what the story of that game is supposed to be, and while Return to Dream Land and Triple Deluxe are translated well enough, Planet Robobot and Star Allies have many changes or mistakes in translation in the English version of the game. docs.google.com/document/d/1g8v6ynH3B2lFtoXPnNC5jWxBEYl45fFPuwqERk1oXAE/edit?usp=sharing This is a document in which I've translated every boss pause description in Kirby Star Allies from Japanese. However, it also contains pause descriptions for bosses you haven't fought yet from the other modes, but they're sorted by which mode they're from so you can just stop reading once you get to spoilers. Actually, some of the information is given about Void in modes you haven't played yet, but I really wouldn't consider this info a spoiler anymore. So I'll summarize Void in this comment so you don't have to wade through spoilers about other bosses. Speaking of the modes, they can be a bit confusing so let me explain them for you too. You've unlocked Guest Star, which is a mode in which you replay the game with one of the Helpers as Player 1. You can also play as the Dream Friends, and for the DLC Dream Friends, (especially the Wave 2 and Wave 3 ones, aka the ones from Adeleine onwards), they have recreations of levels from their original games mixed in. Unfortunately you can't play Guest Star with a Dream Friend as player 1 until you've beaten the mode with a Friend Helper first. You need to beat Guest Star once to unlock the later difficulty levels of The Ultimate Choice. I highly recommend you play this mode to the end at least once, but it's probably the hardest sell here. The Ultimate Choice is like the Colosseum from Forgotten Land. You start with difficulties 1-5, you need to beat difficulty 5 (Sizzling Threat) and Guest Star to unlock 6 and 7, and you need to beat one of those to unlock 8. You will need to beat Heroes in Another Dimension as well as difficulty 8 to unlock the highest difficulty level. Heroes in Another Dimension is a mode they added in DLC. It is a continuation of the main story, similar to Forgo Dreams from Forgotten Land. Being added in DLC, the game will claim you have 100% once you beat Guest Star and the 8th difficulty of The Ultimate Choice (And whatever else you're missing) which were in the game from the beginning, instead beating HiAD and the final Ultimate Choice difficulty will put a crown on your save file. Anyway, back to what Void is... He is nothing. That is the answer. As succinctly put by Kumazaki once in a HAL Labs blog, Void is 'that child with a personality that resembles and is influenced by many things/people, because he is nothing'. Unfortunately the in-game descriptions in the original Japanese language are not so clear about this and the answer is basically impossible to reach through the English version of the game. Void doesn't have Kirby's face because he created Kirby or will become another Kirby, he has Kirby's face because he is a being who copies the appearance of the person it first sees when it is born. It's actually directly in his name, which is Ende Niru in Japanese. While Niru can be interpreted as Nil, meaning nothing, which English changed to Void, it is also the Japanese word for Resemble. In more detail, Void is a being who is influenced by the energy gathered within him. He could become a star ally if positive energy is gathered, or the Destroyer God (Destroyer of Worlds in English) At the beginning, gathered all of chaos and potential into four types of matter, being Dream, Dark, Soul, and Heart, and was born as the cause of all creation. Ancient people saw him shining like a star, and they wrote a book of legends about him. At some point, Void was constantly creating darkness, so four heroes sealed him using four spears of heart made from their kindness. This results in what we see in story mode, the dark Jamba Heart is the vessel in which God resides, and it is sealed in a pink barrier by the four Spears of Heart stabbed through it. Hyness read about Void in the book of legends and wanted Void to be reborn, once again as the Destroyer God/Destroyer of Worlds. But he failed the ritual and shattered both the dark Jamba Heart and the Spears of Heart, spreading them across the universe. These dark Jamba Hearts are implied to have further absorbed negativity they found throughout the galaxy, which leads to Void resembling various past final bosses like Dark Matter and Dark Mind. (However, since we know Void was a source of darkness long in the past, it's still likely he could've been the original creator of Dark Matter even if the part about him being the creator of Kirby is false). Anyway, Void is born, influenced by the darkness gathered by Hyness. But he also resembles the first person he sees, and that was Kirby. Void, now, with both the darkness gathered by Hyness and the innocent soul he copied from Kirby, has two conflicting concepts inside him, causing Chaos. Thus, he becomes a Soul Chaos (Essence of Chaos in English). Chaos Elfilis was also called 'Soul Chaos New Species' in Forgotten Land's Japanese, translated as 'Species Born of Chaos' in English. In Chaos Elfilis' case, chaos was born from the mix of native-beast souls and the butterfly. Notice how I said 'Void is born'. As I've mentioned, many people mistakenly believe that Void will be 'born as Kirby', or 'born as Dark Matter'. But Void has already been born in the game, as the Destroyer God/Destroyer of Worlds, Void Termina. He does not literally get born as Dark Matter or Kirby, he just gets born as Void Termina, who resembles Dark Matter and Kirby. Anyway, in the Star Allies artbook and other interviews, Kumazaki explains that Void's first form, the Devil, represents the overwhelming power of the dark hearts. Void's third form, the Angel, represents a divine being, since Hyness wanted a God to worship. His second form, First Core, is described as cocoon, or a 'vessel of the embryo', while his fourth form, Second Core, represents Hope, and the desires of Hyness and the mages. Also, you probably have no idea what I'm talking about with the capitalized Dark Matter. Dark Matter is the final boss of Dream Land 2, and its leader, Zero, is the final boss of Dream Land 3, who is probably also Zero Two, the final boss of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. They are beings of darkness, and Dark Matter is a black orb with an eye in the middle with orange balls surrounding it in a circle. Void's second core appearance as a giant eye is a mimicry of Dark Matter.
Hi! I know some comments have mentioned some things, but I wanted to point out some things if you're going for completion! (ignoring the smaller things like puzzle pieces of course) To 100% Star Allies, you just have to do all the modes. This includes mini-games (but thankfully you don't even need to win these. Just playing them on each difficulty counts!) The Ultimate Choice; This is your arena of the game! Much like Forgotten Land, this is a big gauntlet to fight all previous foes - but unlike every other kirby game, you can actually choose your difficulty in this! One very important note here though. While you CAN choose difficulty, there is still a "Normal, Hard, and Harder" gauntlet! "Normal" and "Hard" are equivalent to your "Arena" and "True Arena Z" in Forgotten Land, while the harder one is.... Well, let's just say there's a reason why it's harder. Unlike the others though, this difficulty was actually added in the free dlc the game had, as such it doesn't count towards completion - but is definitely worth doing for the challenge alone! Guest Star: This mode is a recap of the whole game, but more condensed. You'll play as a character of your choice (Dream Friends are locked until a normal session is done) until you get to the end! For game completion, only one run of this mode is necessary. (These levels can be admittedly tedious if you DID try to do them all, but the Dream Friends do have more unique levels since theirs are full of references to their respective games!) Heroes in another dimension is post-content! And is extra story, so definitely do this one! And finally! Well, more a suggestion really... That extra level the game gave you? Save it for last! I won't hate you if you don't, but trust me - it's a nice way to end the game, and this playthrough - for real! (especially if you suffer through the arena...)
You're the only person I've seen down here mention it. I thought they had privated the last episode for some reason and everyone saw it in time except me. ;-; I don't mind either though, as long as there wasn't anything story heavy.
Fun fact: Kirby is a eldridge chaos god and this is the reveal. Also pause screen info changes each phase of a boss fight you may want to go back and acquire more lore
I would like to place an enthusiastic vote towards Squeak Squad. I lost track of how many times I 100%'d that game (during my high school years nonetheless) and all the components that came with it. I feel it's a good entry for Kirby newcomers as there aren't a million collectibles to find like there are in Star Allies, so you can focus more on the game progression. Speaking of which, I can't help but back up the previous comments when I say the tale being woven in Star Allies is far from over. Kinda looking forward to you completing 'Heroes in Another Dimension' already, but I won't give away as to why. In any case, congrats on clearing the main campaign and get ready. Because the difficulty will only spike from there.
Whoo! Seriously, this final boss is so dramatic, and Casey kinda on point on the "such a funny way to reveal" line As for game, very much Robobot for me; though I am curious to see Ian re-explore Squeak Squad and see his opinions on it, I'm way more hype for Robobot, that game was super cool. Also, an off-main kirb game I'd recommend for you two to try at some point might be Kirby's Epic Yarn, if you're able to play the original Wii version; it's built for dual co-op and is pretty freakin adorable.
The exact meaning of void is left ambiguous, but my personal interpretation was that kirby species are being of pure potential. They are very sensitive, molded by the feelings of those around them. Kirby himself is mostly joy and innocence from being born on pop star, the dark matter are pure pain and misery, but void is different in that he is still in the process of being formed, and what he will become hasn`t been decided yet. Hyness cult attempted to fil lit with nothing but hatred and malice, turning him into a destroyer of world. But upon kirby and his friends breaking through his outer shell, they were able to influence it as well, showing it that there could also be kindness, friendship, happiness. Void was defeated, but their kind do not really die, they will eventually return , with a little hope that it may turn out better.
I’d watch any Kirby game you play next! Robobot’s generally considered to be one of the best-as you’ve seen everyone else already say-but Squeak Squad would also be fun to see!
Woah woah finale wait what no no but but but postgame no postgame ooouuuurruuhhhhh?!? woah woah hodupholdup postgame yeah read descripshin scrimbly hecky yea boiiiiiiiiii 26:39 haha too bad they didn't know to pause on the different phases aswell
"That would be such a funny way to reveal that Kirby's actually a chaps god." Yeah. Yeah, it sure was. 😌 That's genuinely how they did it. Especially taking into account the True Arena (The Ultimate Choice mode) versions of this fight, and the pause screen lore for them.
I love that Ian was just like “Yeah there’ll probably be a few more parts, those are going to be epilogue episodes.” And it’s not even halfway through the series.
AFTER you complete The Ultimate Choice, Heroes in Another Dimension, and (unfortunately) Guest Star Allies, I would say it's better to play Return to Dreamland for sake of convenience. As for the order on to do those three, I would suggest Heroes in Another Dimension, Guest Star Allies, THEN The Ultimate Choice. I'd say that these are some of, if not the MOST important parts of the game.
This has got to be one of my favorite series y’all have done, it was such a fun time! I would recommend doing everything in this game aside from the puzzle pieces, as it’s very interesting and has a lot of lore implications. Also the mini games are fun but not important Also between Squeak Squad and Robobot I’d say Planet Robobot
Catching up where I fell off earlier. Watching you both geek out over how badass the finale is was very worth it Also I'm very amused by the "probably just gonna be a few epilogue episodes after this" and I see you are still posting videos three months later lol
So personal theory, Void termina appears to be a sort of prototype for 3d kirby play. I think kirby and the forgotten land was the natural evolution of things they tested in this fight. Also while this is the end of the base game, I HIGHLY recommend doing the other modes and Heroes in another dimension.
Planet Robobot would be a great continuation from here! Also, as other comments have pointed out, there is a ton of post-game (and story) in the other modes so I recommend you check them out too!
Hope you 2 will be doing the side modes since that's real meat of the game. The other modes are a lot more challenging and/or have more lore. Also between Robobot and Squeak Squad, you should play Robobot.
My vote goes for Planet Robobot, it is in my opinion the pinnacle of modern 2D Kirby in terms of level design and themes, for as great as Star Allies is in content, the level design is one of the more flat ones in the franchise, and Planet Robobot absolutely wins that category
I would probably go for Kirby Planet Robobot. Mostly cause I haven’t actually played Squeak Squad, i do know that Squeak Squad is where the rat guy the bombs came from though.
Yes Void Termina and Kirby are the same creature, but where Termina was filled with Hate and Destruction Kirby was filled with stuff like Love and Friendship...so yeah Kirby is a Chaos God!
I saw that no one wrote down what he said here, so even if you got that afterwards, here it is for everyone curious; We are the masters of a power driven to the far reaches of the universe, and we have but one desire! Can one such as you possibly fathom how dearly we have clung to this dream across the aeons? How could you! You couldn't! Never ever ever! We who once faced those who were in such fear of our power that they sealed us away and banished us to the edge of the galaxy! US! As if THAT loveliness wasn't enough, they tried to erase our very existence from history! RUDE! Only through our magic were we able to overcome their science and achieve great prosperity! It WASN'T! Now the time for his greatness to enter our world has come! Welcome to a new history! A new age! The age of awesome! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DARK LORD! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Grace us, Gloriously Dark Looooooord! Also, while I was slowing the playback speed to pause it at the proper spots, I accidentally skipped ahead to the next episode. Casey groaning 'N I C K Y M I N A J' At 0.5 speed killed me XD
You should absolutely play Guest Star, followed by Heroes in Another Dimension, and finish off with The Ultimate Choice (Soul Melter EX difficulty), since they all build upon the story, while Soul Melter EX has the hardest and most hectic boss in the series outside of Heroes in Another Dimension's. So now we have Hyness and Void Termina: Easily the most important characters in the shockingly complex lore of the Kirby series. Hyness' high speed rant before his fight is as follows: _"We are the masters of a power driven to the far reaches of the universe, and we have but one desire! Can one such as you possibly fathom how dearly we have clung to this dream across the aeons? How could you! You couldn’t! Never ever ever! We who once faced those who were in such fear of our power that they sealed us away and banished us to the edge of the galaxy! US! Now the time for his greatness to enter our world has come! Welcome to a new history! A new age! The age of awesome! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DARK LORD! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"_ Hyness' rant contains allusions to many elements of the series: Hyness' clan and the people of science he mentions are strongly implied to be the Ancients, a race from the distant pace that created legendary treasures and technologies, such as the Star Rod and Fountain of Dreams from Kirby's Adventure, clockwork stars (i.e. Galactic Novas, or NOVA from Super Star), and the Master Crown and the Lor Starcutter from Return to Dream Land. The science sect created the Galactic Novas and Lor Starcutter, while the magic sect likely created the Star Rod, Fountain of Dreams, and Master Crown. Hyness' clan were a religious order that worshipped a "matter most dark" ("the darkest matter" in the Japanese version), a blatant reference to _Dark Matter_. Dark Matter was the antagonist of three games: Kirby's Dream Land 2, 3, and Kirby 64, and is a mysterious eldritch abomination that feeds off of negative emotions and possesses others, but has yet to make a proper reappearance after Kirby 64, save for one non-canon moment in a previous game. Regardless, these two groups were close friends. One day, Hyness' clan stopped a "galactic crisis," and was banished by their science-focused friends out of fear, who then proceeded to erase all records of them. While we have yet to know what that crisis was, the specific wording suggests it could have been Galacta Knight, a character introduced in Super Star's remake that was imprisoned due to similar fears he was too powerful. Sometime later, Hyness founded the Jambastion religion - which is pretty clearly a cult - with the Three Mage-Sisters, Jambelievers (the Jammerjabs without staves), and Jammerjabs being among his followers. Hyness' beliefs are based on a vision he received in which a god spoke to him, inviting him to a new paradise, and due to this vision matching up with a book Hyness' clan had wrote about a being named Void, Hyness came to the conclusion Void was the one that spoke to him. To restore his clan to its former glory, Hyness somehow obtained the Jamba Heart - Void's vessel - from which the book said Void would emerge and give his blessing. While Hyness initially worshipped and revered Void with genuine feelings, he gradually grew bitter with how his clan was treated, and became obsessed with his worship. This eventually turned into a desire for revenge, and as Void feeds off of emotions, it became a being of destruction, and Hyness himself went mad. Void Termina is Void after feeding on negative emotions. Void is, in the simplest terms possible, all but outright said to be the origin of the Kirby universe, and a being that exists across infinite dimensions in different forms. The Japanese version emphasizes this by stating he was born from Dream, Dark, Soul, and Heart "matter," which have popped up in the Kirby franchise in various forms: Dark Matter was previously mentioned, "Soul" bosses have been a staple since Kirby Canvas Curse, Dreams are one of the series' motifs, and Hearts show up every now and again as well, especially in this game. The Ancients once saw a version of him that resembled a star (another motif of the series), and wrote about him in books, including the book of legend Hyness obtained. According to the book, Void's vessel, the Jamba Heart, came from a dimensional rift (Another Dimension in Return to Dream Land and this game), but was producing darkness; four heroes appeared and sealed the Jamba Heart using spears of the heart, then mysteriously disappeared and were never seen again. We don't know the heroes' identities, but a common theory is that the previously mentioned Galacta Knight was one of them, which would explain why he was feared: Galacta Knight essentially fought God, won, and imprisoned Him. Void Termina's battle has allusions to many elements of the series, much like Hyness. The eyes that appear on his first phase are taken from Dark Nebula, the final boss of Squeak Squad that has an unknown connection to Dark Matter, in addition to the act he can utilize fire, ice, and lightning, which were emphasized in Squead Squad (and by Dark Nebula) more than any other game, and his swords have hilts that are explicitly based on the Master Crown from Return to Dream Land. His second phase, with the fleshy orb you have to open, is fought in an area that very heavily resembles the final world in Kirby 64, Dark Star, which was created by Dark Matter as a last resort. His third phase's wings are explicitly based on 0², the true final boss of Kirby 64 and leader of Dark Matter; this phase also has a heart motif with its tail, and summons holograms of the Master Crown itself for its laser attacks. Void Termina's fourth phase, however, is the big "wham" moment of the story: It bears an uncanny resemblance to _Kirby_, soon takes on a form blatantly based on *_Dark Matter_*, the song for the fourth phase is a dramatic remix of Green Greens from Kirby's Dream Land (which is also a motif of this game), and its fifth phase's button mashing laser is even internally called "Dark Matter Laser!" There's even more connections in the harder versions of the battle you'll see later, but one that's not immediately obvious is Void's name. Void's Japanese name is "Nil," which means "nothing." Void can mean "nothing," but also has another synonym: Zero. Zero, or 0, was the true final boss of Kirby's Dream Land 3, and 0² (Kirby 64) is thought to be another version of it. What this means for Kirby himself is currently unknown, but it's going to be very exciting to see where they're going with it!
I’m so glad you guys enjoyed the story mode, because a lot of people trash talk this game for having an easy and short story mode, but the game play dose get better after story mode so I hope you do play more. Lol, as much as people may hate me for sayings this, I think I love star allies more then forgotten land.
So yeah, i'd mostly reccomend the ultimate choice and heroes in another dimention, but try playing guest star ??? At least once, it will surprise you!! Anyways, i hope you guys had fun with the story mode, and have fun with the extra content!
Also, you should check out Planet Robobot or Kirby's Return to Dreamland next. Robobot for gameplay, Return to Dreamland for the next key piece of backtracking through the Lore (tm)
I’m not sure you’ll have time for another Kirby game if you plan to tackle the other three sub-modes, but if you do, I’d love to see Squeak Squad. The game doesn’t get much recognition, but it’s pretty good
Would be cool to see y'all play kirby planet robobot, so much crazy fun in that one. But also, even if doesn't connect to this, I gotta keep recommending mario + rabbids cause y'all would love it for sure.
The finale is what REALLY made me adore this game, it's so climactic in the best way possible. I'm fine with seeing either game suggested! Squeak Squad is a gigantic nostalgia game for me (even if it's quite short) and Robobot has some of the best designed 2d levels in the series, both great picks. And yeah, this may be the "finale" but we're quite far from being done with this game ;)
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Jambandra Base and Extra Planet Gamma were shown in the series yet. Because they weren’t completed last episode, but they were completed in this one.
love when the finale isn't even halfway through the series OMG CASEY IS RIGHT CASEY IS DONKEY KONG masks ARE cool, as are mascs mardigrah or however it's spelled has all those bead necklaces that you collect then forget where you put them because they're set to naturally despawn 10:29 psychic ian. psian if you will. Hyness is such a fun guy :) 25:10 btw you might know what that is now that you've completed the main story of kirby's return to dreamland 27:03 this might seem familiar, too
Uhhh I think you accidentally uploaded the wrong part. Edit: I kid you not, you should save for Heroes in Another Dimension for LAST. Also puzzle pieces don't count towards one-hundred percent. You should Squeak Squad, only because you should do Triple Deluxe before Planet Robobot. They're kind of a duology in my eyes.
My vote is for Squeak Squad as it is the closest to Kirby's Adventure (my fav) and would like to hear Ian's thoughts on it know as opposed to when he was a kid
The reason Void looks like Kirby is because Kirby’s positive energy countered the negative energy of the dark hearts collected by Hyness, causing him to resemble Kirby. It doesn’t mean that Kirby himself is a god.
while i highly recommend at least playing through the "heroes in another dimension" storyline in this game because i believe its even better than the main campaign, my money's in for planet robobot next, that game is some real *chef's kiss* all around
For those curious as to what Hyness said: “We are the masters of a power driven to the far reaches of the universe, and we have but one desire! Can one such as you possibly fathom how dearly we have clung to this dream across the aeons? How could you! You couldn’t! Never ever ever! We who once faced those who were in such fear of our power that they sealed us away and banished us to the edge of the galaxy! US! As if THAT loveliness wasn’t enough, they tried to erase our very existence from history! RUDE! Only through our magic were we able to overcome their science and achieve great prosperity! We alone were responsible for stopping that repulsive nightmare of a galactic crisis, yet this is how you repay us! This won’t stand! It won’t be forgiven! It won’t be forgotten! It WASN’T! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” This isn’t just nonsense btw, pretty much all of it is important lore and/or callbacks to previous games. Also yes, Kirby is essentially a god, albeit a young, larval one, which is honestly much scarier.
"this would be such a funny way to reveal Kirby's a chaos god."
Cassy reacting to the reveal that Kirby's a chaos god of pure joy.
There's a lot more story to this game than just story mode.
yeah
That's why in the description, they said that the series won't end here. They're aware that there's plenty of other game modes than just the story mode. ;)
@@penelopeham19 sorry I saw finale on capital letters and assumed they wouldn't come back to it
@@Jaydove2387 It's okay. I get that from time to time, so we're all good. ^^
@@Jaydove2387 they do that, they have a "finale" episode for the first time they complete the story, then they do everything else.
Okay, just so y’all are aware in the future, certain really important bosses, like Hyness and Void Termina, have different pause screen descriptions depending on the phase, so I gathered the ones you missed!
Hyness Unhooded:
His once carefully concealed face now exposed, Hyness is on the rampage! Tossing the three unconscious sisters around like rag dolls, it’s clear he’s lost his grip on reality. It’s up to the Star Allies to bring an end to this nightmare, and save...everything!
Void Termina Core:
The shocking true form of Void Termina has been revealed! Born from the total absence of care and composed of dark energy, he has awakened from a state of mere existence to that of true sentience. He now desires only one thing…
to CRUSH all opposition!
Void Wing Phase:
Rise! Oh, Dark Lord of Despair!
Crush the stars! Lay waste to care!
Upon your wing, dark judgment bring!
May your symphony of tragedy
cause the end of everything!
Void Final Phase:
As the the spring breeze blows, a young traveler appears. After greeting new friends and bidding farewell to old ones, his path has finally led him here. Let’s beat this guy already!
After that, lunch and a nap!
And sometimes it’ll change again depending on the mode you’re on, so I’d recommend keeping an eye out!
The mode "Heroes In Another Dimension" is like the Post-game for Forgotten Land. It's a smidge more challenging and absolutely canon.
ah yes, the gamemode that makes me insane… literally
“Is Kirby an eldritch god?”
To put it simply…
Possibly.
Also planet robobot is considered one of the best Kirby games, so it would be nice to see you play it.
if anyone in the mood to read the full rant from hyness, heres the full thing:
"We are the masters of a power driven to the far reaches of the universe, and we have but one desire! Can one such as you possibly fathom how dearly we have clung to this dream across the aeons? Ah yes… the game where Kirby gets a gundam
@@bocobipbrookiebradgaming7838 in the upcoming one he becomes a gundam
I think it would be better if they did Triple Deluxe first and then Robobot
Congratulations, you have now finished about 1/3 of this game!
No but seriously, this game is far from done and I can't wait to see you guys play through all the different modes!
Boy oh boy, 7 brand new pause screen descriptions on a single video, I knew this day would come when I started doing this and yet I wasn't ready (it took me 30 minutes to type all this), anyway...

34:41 love how they literally don’t notice
I dont think they could do the soul melter ex. Its twice as hard as robobots true arena and its already hard. Soul melter is prob more reasonable
Puzzle pieces don't count for 100%. So going for 100% isn't so bad.
I’d love to see either the other modes for this game, or Planet Robobot.
And you guys should absolutely do Planet Robobot it’s one of the best games in the series
I would say best but you know Forgotten Land happened
The Guest Star Star Allies Go! Mode is a mode where you play the game as a character that isn’t Kirby, don’t worry, it’s not the full story mode. The Ultimate Choice is a mode where you fight the bosses with breaks in between, some of the fights are more difficult! Hero’s in Another Dimension is a extra batch of story, make sure to play it! It’s the way to get the True Ending. Let me know if you saw this!
❤️
Dark Meta Knight is my favourite Dream Friend! Glad to see it’s finally his time to shine!
Save the ultimate choice for last, you unlock stuff for it in heros in another dimention
Bold of you to assume this is all there is…
I think you forgot to upload part 17.
Part mix up, jambandra base wasn't completed last part but it's complete in this episode. Hope this helps and have a lovely day!
Just kidding.
25:13 that’s the master crown you will learn about it in a another game
More Kirby?
Yes, please!
Kumazaki has mentioned that Forgotten Land was the first time he's actually worked with localization teams to make sure they understand what the story of that game is supposed to be, and while Return to Dream Land and Triple Deluxe are translated well enough, Planet Robobot and Star Allies have many changes or mistakes in translation in the English version of the game.
docs.google.com/document/d/1g8v6ynH3B2lFtoXPnNC5jWxBEYl45fFPuwqERk1oXAE/edit?usp=sharing
This is a document in which I've translated every boss pause description in Kirby Star Allies from Japanese.
(ignoring the smaller things like puzzle pieces of course)
To 100% Star Allies, you just have to do all the modes. This includes mini-games (but thankfully you don't even need to win these. Just playing them on each difficulty counts!)
The Ultimate Choice;
This is your arena of the game!
Guest Star:
This mode is a recap of the whole game, but more condensed. You'll play as a character of your choice (Dream Friends are locked until a normal session is done) until you get to the end! For game completion, only one run of this mode is necessary. (These levels can be admittedly tedious if you DID try to do them all, but the Dream Friends do have more unique levels since theirs are full of references to their respective games!)
Heroes in another dimension is post-content! And is extra story, so definitely do this one!
And finally! Well, more a suggestion really...
That extra level the game gave you? Save it for last! I won't hate you if you don't, but trust me - it's a nice way to end the game, and this playthrough - for real! (especially if you suffer through the arena...)
Did we... skip a part? Not that I'm complaining mind you, love to get early content ❤️
Yep. they also completed the final extra planet on the missing part as well.
yeah thats what I waas wondering, they skipped the big Jamba base, and when straight to divine terminus
Ok, glad I wasn't just getting confused!
You're the only person I've seen down here mention it. I thought they had privated the last episode for some reason and everyone saw it in time except me. ;-; I don't mind either though, as long as there wasn't anything story heavy.
Lucky for us, we didn't miss anything special in those two levels that they did. I still wondr what happened with the episode tho.
Ian is absolutely right, Kirby games start simple and go CRAZY AT THE FINALE
Whoo! Seriously, this final boss is so dramatic, and Casey kinda on point on the "such a funny way to reveal" line
As for game, very much Robobot for me; though I am curious to see Ian re-explore Squeak Squad and see his opinions on it, I'm way more hype for Robobot, that game was super cool.
Oh you're not done just yet! YOU'VE ONLY JUST BEGUN!!
Woah woah finale wait what no no but but but postgame no postgame ooouuuurruuhhhhh?!?
woah woah hodupholdup postgame yeah read descripshin scrimbly hecky yea boiiiiiiiiii
26:39 haha too bad they didn't know to pause on the different phases aswell
Maybe a mini episode on the original dream land? Don't know how mini since it takes around an hour to finish
I didn’t know you guys still played Kirby games
"That would be such a funny way to reveal that Kirby's actually a chaps god."
Yeah. Yeah, it sure was. 😌 That's genuinely how they did it.
Especially taking into account the True Arena (The Ultimate Choice mode) versions of this fight, and the pause screen lore for them.
34:42 this is a foreshadowing of another secret final boss.
I love that Ian was just like “Yeah there’ll probably be a few more parts, those are going to be epilogue episodes.” And it’s not even halfway through the series.
I'd love to see you two play Kirby Squeak Squad!!! It was such a joy to play when I was younger.
SqSq is probably one of the weaker mainline entries, and isn't multiplayer. RTDL would probably be best for them atm.
Oh. Kirby: Planet Robobot would be amazing!
Be used to seeing all sorts of cyclops creatures.
This is one crazy final boss fight. The final form is a reference to another final Kirby boss. Also there is more to the story.
Heroes in another dimension is lore-awesome. But the ultimate choice at max difficulty is... _something else._
This has got to be one of my favorite series y’all have done, it was such a fun time! I would recommend doing everything in this game aside from the puzzle pieces, as it’s very interesting and has a lot of lore implications. Also the mini games are fun but not important
Also between Squeak Squad and Robobot I’d say Planet Robobot
Catching up where I fell off earlier. Watching you both geek out over how badass the finale is was very worth it
Also I'm very amused by the "probably just gonna be a few epilogue episodes after this" and I see you are still posting videos three months later lol
Theres a BEYOND 100% in this game! it would be awsome to see you play it!!
Hope you 2 will be doing the side modes since that's real meat of the game. The other modes are a lot more challenging and/or have more lore. Also between Robobot and Squeak Squad, you should play Robobot.
The extra modes have some more story so they're definitely worth playing.
My vote goes for Planet Robobot, it is in my opinion the pinnacle of modern 2D Kirby in terms of level design and themes, for as great as Star Allies is in content, the level design is one of the more flat ones in the franchise, and Planet Robobot absolutely wins that category
Welp, Casey figured Kirby out first try
I would probably go for Kirby Planet Robobot. Mostly cause I haven’t actually played Squeak Squad, i do know that Squeak Squad is where the rat guy the bombs came from though.
Yes Void Termina and Kirby are the same creature, but where Termina was filled with Hate and Destruction Kirby was filled with stuff like Love and Friendship...so yeah Kirby is a Chaos God!
I saw that no one wrote down what he said here, so even if you got that afterwards, here it is for everyone curious;
We are the masters of a power driven to the far reaches of the universe, and we have but one desire!
Y’all should play Heroes in Another Dimension, it gives more story and answers one of your questions from Forgotten Land!
YES! Play Planet Robobot, its the actual best Kirby game.
Hyness' high speed rant before his fight is as follows:
_"We are the masters of a power driven to the far reaches of the universe, and we have but one desire! Can one such as you possibly fathom how dearly we have clung to this dream across the aeons? Hyness' rant contains allusions to many elements of the series: Hyness' clan and the people of science he mentions are strongly implied to be the Ancients, a race from the distant pace that created legendary treasures and technologies, such as the Star Rod and Fountain of Dreams from Kirby's Adventure, clockwork stars (i.e.
Void Termina looks like it came straight out of Shadow of the Colossus
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Jambandra Base and Extra Planet Gamma were shown in the series yet. Because they weren’t completed last episode, but they were completed in this one.
Squeak Squad is a darling to me, so it definitely has my vote!
I'd definitely like to see you play Planet Robobot!
please PLEASE do Ultimate Choice PLEASE, its like maybe 2 full episodes worth of stuff, and they are both AWSOME!!!!
love when the finale isn't even halfway through the series
OMG CASEY IS RIGHT CASEY IS DONKEY KONG
masks ARE cool, as are mascs
mardigrah or however it's spelled has all those bead necklaces that you collect then forget where you put them because they're set to naturally despawn
10:29 psychic ian. psian if you will.
Hyness is such a fun guy :)
25:10 btw you might know what that is now that you've completed the main story of kirby's return to dreamland
27:03 this might seem familiar, too
Trust me, the extra stuff in this game is much longer than the story mode combine. There are 3 endings in this game (story mode included).
"this would be such a funny way to reveal Kirby is a chaos god"
HMMMMMMM
“This would be a really funny way to explain the Kirby is an eldritch god” Who’s gonna tell ‘em?
i luv you guys and kirby so much please play planet robobot next
Uhhh I think you accidentally uploaded the wrong part.
Edit: I kid you not, you should save for Heroes in Another Dimension for LAST. Also puzzle pieces don't count towards one-hundred percent.
You should Squeak Squad, only because you should do Triple Deluxe before Planet Robobot. They're kind of a duology in my eyes.
god I've been waiting for so long, and a lot more star allies would be enjoyed
Kirby planet robot please and please play kid icuris uprising
I would say squeak squad since I don't think robobot would get finished before return to dreamland comes out
There's another mode to the game after adventure and arena too
Several other modes.
Iirc in order to do the "100%" you guys are doing you need to also do Guest star mode
More of this please, and if not then Squeak Squad...
25:27 ITS THE MASTER CROWN
I'd like to see Planet Robobot. It is my favourite 2D Kirby game.
I'd like to see you guys play Planet Robobot!
Please please do the spicy chili boss rush and on max mode you'll get so much juicy lore from pause screen.
For those curious as to what Hyness said:
“We are the masters of a power driven to the far reaches of the universe, and we have but one desire! Can one such as you possibly fathom how dearly we have clung to this dream across the aeons? This isn’t just nonsense btw, pretty much all of it is important lore and/or callbacks to previous games.
Also yes, Kirby is essentially a god, albeit a young, larval one, which is honestly much scarier.
