I'm in a similar situation Sister - my husband suffered abuse as a child. He has never dealt with it. He left our home but I don't want a divorce. He hasn't been in touch in a while, but I've stopped praying for restoration. I've prayed for him though.

I’m so sorry you are going through this but proud of you for your decisions. I have fought for and believed for 4 yrs. I’m tired and done. I just don’t want to disappoint or disobey God. My heart has turned from my husband so there is no desire to fight anymore. 😢

I want to first of all say that I am extremely sorry for your situation and for everything that you have been through. I pray that the Lord leads, guides, and heals you. I also want to say that God does not "ordain" abusive marriages. Women tend to marry men who are abusive out of naivety and a lack of wisdom. "A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences." Proverbs 27:12 It's easy to overlook red flags when emotions are involved. It's easy to think that God is telling you to marry someone when in reality it is your desire to be with this person and not God's. It's easy to let a man manipulate you into thinking that you are the one for him and that you are "destined" to be together. I don't believe that just because you were everything that your husband was looking for in a woman, means that you were meant to be together (you are correct; revilers (verbal abusers) are not believers (1 John 3:8-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10) and the Bible clearly states that we are not to marry unbelievers (2 Cor. 6:14)). However, you did get married, although your husband was not fit to be a husband and did not fulfill his role and duty to you, but instead chose to abuse you. Also, God sees people as they are. He sees the depths of us. He sees how sinful we are (John 2:24). He knows every decision that we will ever make. I think a lot of women are deceived into having false hope for their spouse out of choosing to "see the best" in them. While nothing is impossible with God and He is able to make people into a new creation, the Bible also warns that there will be people who will not be repentant. "God will give ear and humble them, he who is enthroned from of old, Selah because they do not change and do not fear God. My companion stretched out his hand against his friends; he violated his covenant. His speech was smooth as butter, yet war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords." Psalms 55:19-21 I believe that you did the right thing by separating from him, for your sake and for the sake of your children. It is an extremely hard thing to do. You are a very strong woman. I pray that the Lord will lead and guide you and deliver you from all deception.
