They never reached that perfection since then, even more amazing is the fact they have been building road cars for only 12 years when this one came out.
Since I looked at it the first time, this car became my favorite one of all time. Nice video guys! P.S. Yes, it's a Ferrari jacket I'm wearing in the photo
That was perfect guys! I agree wholeheartedly with your point. This was Maranellos best. I assume you have a lot more footage from that? The soundtrack alone would be fantastic to share!
I have been looking at 250 Ferraris all my life (46 years) and ashamed to admit only now I realise how this so closely resembles a SWB california with a roof nose and tail masaged. Che Bella
I live around that area and go for drives as the road there are amazing and I always hope I run into one of their cars in the process (i once saw an f40 from GTO but that's another story). I've seen 2 250 swbs there, one from afar, the other I got the chance to drive behind, the sound, the smell, the looks, the guy driving it was lighting up the rear tyres!! I was so overwhelmed I had to pull over to collect my thoughts.
With unlimited budget and a Genie to grant me the wishes. Give me a garage with a 250 TDF, a 250 SWB, a 250 GTO, a 250 LM and a 330P4. Then modern 288 GTO, F40. A mechanic to service them a private track to drive them on and immortality to experience them.
You could create all those quite easily. The hardest one is the 250 LM, due to mid engine and being a 3.3 litre. However, Roelofs in the Netherlands can make the engine for you. GTO Engineering already make 250 GT SWBs. Roelofs made a 250 GTO. 288 GTO is probably the easiest. Get a 308 Vetroresina, add 4 inches to the engine bay (a good specialist can do that). Buy all the panels you can from Ferrari spares, plus proper wheels, etc. Get a 360 engine. Right bhp at 400! Most of those need a wooden buck and a good aluminium forming company to make the body. Is the TDF LWB? Use a 250 GTE and take the body off. Send the body to Icon in the US to create a new chassis with a 365 4.4 litre engine. So, you get a nice 250 GTE retromod to add to your collection (or sell it for a profit)!
@@richardmortimer8147 anything is possible with a larger budget than I have. I am aware of DK engineering (youtube) has beena wonderful thing for a classic car fan. The poor old 250 GTE many have been sacraficed my Dad owned and restored one I never got to experience it unfortunatley. Thank you for your response.
@@simeonorive145 Agree. That is why I like the Icon solution. Instead of tossing a GTE away (a very nice car in its own right) you create a restomod, which might even be more valuable. The 250 GTE becomes 2 better cars! LOL A replica with the 250 engine and the GTE with a bigger engine and a better chassis. I'll be doing it when, like you, I had the money!
@@richardmortimer8147 If only I had the coin. Fortunatley I have had the priveledge of riding in a 512 BB as an 8 year old, a 275 2 cam, a TDF and driven my Dads 308 GT4 a number of times. I have no right with my lack of mechanical skills and low income to own and keep any Ferrari ie 80s Mondial. I just love looking at them, hearing them and talking about them. I consider myself Tifosi Forza Ferrari.
@@simeonorive145 I drove my friend's 288 GTO in the petrol station! His son's 308 GTS on the road and on the track. His Testarossa on the road. Also been in a 512TR and an original Daytona Spyder.
I'm a simple man. I see a 250, I subscribe.
same

They are basically the same. Just a different body.
@@richardmortimer8147 I am aware of the chassis similarity. But had not considered how closely the body lines were. Pure art and mechanical beauty.
Just one day. I would love to have one for just one day on a wonderful mountain road. 🧡
Beautiful! Thank you!
One of my favorite car is 1961 Ferrari 250 GT!
Great video
If you want one GTO Engineering make a 'revival' for 1M Euros! Basically, a brand new 250 GT SWB!

built from zero
you don't need a donor car

Can you get chrome trim on a Ferrari now days? A classic nostalgic Roma might work? Somebody call someone and make this thing happen!
The new Ferrari ended with the Daytona and Dino
