- The Gower Peninsula in SOUTH WALES holds some amazing places to visit but has recently become one of the most difficult places to CAR CAMP or van life overnight, lets see if we can find a decent CARCAMPING spots ...CAR CAMPING at its rawest no VANLIFE no MOTORHOME just me, some basic provisions and an MPV ...

The Gower Peninsula looks absolutely gorgeous and is one for my bucket list! Really appreciate you keeping going during this fuel crisis. Top man!
Hence the thinking behind the longer trips, it's the biggest wedge of cheese for the trip getting to these spots from Leicester but I figure if I can do 2 or 3 weeks trips fuel wise I can slowly explore a spot and use less
@@wanderingwhere that's a great idea to be fair - make a little go a long way. Keep going, I think your channel will continue to grow and who knows, it could become a fulltime thing!
You have a gift, even the phone holder saga was entertaining.
A little tip on using a coolbox. Put your cold goods in an insulated bag and put the bag in the coolbox. I have travelled 160 miles with frozen goods in the bag / Coolbox and they were still frozen when I got home. This tip works perfectly but do remember that once you open cold goods, bacon etc. you should use the rest of the packet within 2 days.
I grew up in and around the Gower. It really is incredible. Rhossili beach is my favourite!! Up on the cliffs is a walkway with stunning views and a couple of cafes and a pub :) The views will make you gasp...

The Rocky outcrop on Rhossili beach was actually an old ship wreck ( what's left of it). It's been there since I was a kid, - so a good 45-50yrs.

The Helvetia, ran aground about 130 years ago, hard to believe it was once a small ship.

@@wanderingwhere It seems that way, but think of 130 years of storms, waves, wind, rain, snow and all sorts of shisnick and people rooting around it too. Won't be there in another few decades.
Just discovered your channel. Loved your trip around the Gower, especially looking forward to you visiting my neck of the woods, Brecon Beacons. If you ever visit Wales again, may I suggest Ceredigion over West Wales. If you loved Gower, you'll find Ceredigion magical.

Great Vid! ♥️It’s So beautiful that area. Love ❤️ this channel. You’re positivity is positively contagious. I’ve a tip or two for the cool box. I freeze a bottle of water usually 2ltr and put it in the centre of the cool box and I’ve cladded mine 😂 with that silver insulated window thermawrap stuff 😂 to deflect the ☀️it actually really helps in this weather if you are powerless. That’s now for these non bluetti folks 😂😉😘😘

The Gower mate.. lushtastic. Love that close shave with the height restrictive gates, reminded me of when I lost the aerial of the Vauxhall Valier in a car wash a few years ago. I know what you mean about that Wormy bay being nice, but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and I reckon Pattaya Beach just beats it. You know, you know. Goes without saying you showed great cooking teckers again it's a masterclass in fine dining. Keep stealthy bro.

If your still down that area try oxwich bay hotel it’s free to stay in the hotel car park as long as you have a meal or a drink it’s right next to the beach with toilets

hehe i like a ruin myself 😉 actually thinking i might go over to conway check and the castle and town been there before really impressive something a bit different as well .... gower though wow, the only place got me in the sea and pew dang could have stayed hours lush being back in the ocean ..../ bristol channel lol, could be one of my fav coastal trips yet
Get topographical maps, they have every detail of the countryside: footpaths, dirt tracks, POIs. A must have for any hiker.
I use Osmand maps on Android. I paid £6 a few years back and have lifetime access to topographical maps for the whole world. Bargain.

I am not a Native but I've lived in the Gower for 25 years now, your absolutely right the natives are very protective and most hate any camping.
There are places you you can go and stay with no hassle. One thing no one will tell you there are a few places where there are communities of old hippies, you will be able to stay there, no problems. Try Murton, and Three Cliffs for starters. There well hidden buddy but there will be someone to tell you directions. Your welcome on my private land in Murton, best surfing,, a mile away. Get in touch if you go back buddy, it would be a pleasure to welcome you to the Gower.
ps. You pronounce the places like a true Leicestershire guy.

Wow lad....what a mega channel.!! I've got a lot of binging to do. Have you ever walked the Cleveland way starting along the beach at Runswick Bay North Yorkshire. Its beautiful and interesting.

Finally lost my car camping Virginity this wknd. Took my micro camper aka focus to the East Coast with my fur baby. Sweated a little in the motor as my dogs German shepherd mix but hay… used park4night lay-bys and glanced in pitch up park for one night. Loved the adventure. Toileting is a nightmare in your own in ingoldmells and Skeggy. Unless you tie up your dog or trust strangers to look after him doh! I’m glad I’ve broke the seal of it though. The peaks next and Isle of white. 😁

Inverters are cool, I have a 150W one that cost about £30 from Go Outdoors. Great for charging, laptop, phone etc. You don't need one to charge your leisure batteries though. I believe what you need is a split charge relay so that the leisure batteries are always being topped up when the engine's running. I may be wrong, but I also believe it will shorten the life of your leisure batteries if you exhaust their charge by more than 50% so good idea to keep them topped up and not use them until they're flat. Someone else also commented that you could double the capacity by wiring them in parallel. This is correct, but don't make the mistake of wiring them in series as this will give an output of 24 volts and will probably fry your 12 volt equipment.
Further to our discussion about dehumidifiers, I've had some further thoughts on the subject. It occurs to me that you'll be fighting a losing battle with condensation as long as you cook inside the car as you are putting moisture into the air faster than then humidifier can absorb it. You might need about 10 to compensate!
Not sure they are proper leisure batteries tbf, also not sure I want anything g permanent in the car at this stage, .... on the dehumidifier it's wi ter tha5s the problem I can always open a door in wi Dow I summer

I am from the little village you passed through called Pitton. Lots of history in this area. Next time you come down you can stay in the yard at the farm. The big stone is called king Arthur's stone hence the name of the pub just down the road. I think legend says he found it in his shoe and left it there. Must have been a bloody big shoe

Hi Adam, don't get an invertor get yourself a split charger,then it'll charge as you drive from your alternator... just a thought ,get one from Amazon not a lot of dosh

you went past the turning to the lighthouse. go back to cwm ivy there is a small car park and you walk down in to the reserve it is a beautiful woodland on the beach and the lighthouse is there you can walk right out to it when tide is out. also give 3 cliffs a visit
aw nightmare, i thought i was close but my sat nav was a blank page didnt have much idea where i was going and yeh that 3 cliffs looks amazing cant believe i missed it, definately going back at some point

we live to tell another tale 😉 was a blooming nightmare driving back home 200 miles with no phone holder, proper good trip this one little gem the gower deffo going back we need to explore the other half of the island ;)
Inverter converts battery power to mains power, batteries your using bit small for that. Vans use split charge relay to charge while driving. Main problem you have is the cooler bax you are using is power hungry, I bought a secondhand 12v alpicool box which usesa fridge compressor and works like you fridge at home. Once down to temperature it shuts motor off, so saves battery.
im still in that mindset where i dont want anything permanent wiring wise in the car atm
Hey Adam, wire your batteries in parallel, you will have 12v and double the run time.
Could you not get a charge from the car while your driving if hooked up correctly

thats king Aruthers stone we use to van camper there for years but they stoned the carpark in 2020 watch if your wild tent camping there wild horses and cows trample the tents we are local as well enjoy the gower
when u say stoned the carpark ?? ... was a couple of locals had mentioned the area for a wildcamp main reason i was having a look round, not sure im up for cows and horses though lol

You should see the spectacular beaches we have on the East coast of OZ, I'm blessed and I live 15mins walk to the beach and ocean pools and 5mins walk to the lake ... Visit OZ 🇦🇺 Adam Oi Oi Oi you know you know ☺️😸

Some up here folks enjoyed our right to roam for years then they marketed the route at the NC 500 and the idiots spoiled it for everyone and took away any local goodwill with their behaviour. Folks I know are conremplating selling up and moving into Inverness because of it.
