    I have no clue what Jesse is talking about when he goes over his gear, but I love to hear him explain the sound

    Holy shit, that's how he gets such a wide stereo sound in recordings. I thought that on DFA records he would record 2 bass parts and pan them left and right, but that's just a chorus pedal, damn!

      Same!
      That's how I was doing my covers, but that changes a lot knowing it's a chorus.

      I know this is a 3 year old comment but just wanted to say that he's not really using the chorus. He just uses it as a splitter basically. He didn't have an AB box at the time to do the dual amp setup but he had that old stereo chorus so he uses the standard mono out to go to one amp and the stereo out to go to the other amp. He has an AB box now but that's actually to switch to the synth which he also runs through the bass amps.

      @wingracer1614 you can very clearly hear chorus in the earlier recordings. it just isn't a LOT of chorus. it's a little bit.

    I aways come back to this video whenever I'm looking for a good tone reference. Jesse is such a genius when it comes to that, and his riffs
    He really knows how to make the most out his gear

    Okay so his Morley ABY has the "A and B" locked with a cable tie, and looks like it is just used to switch "A or B" for bass or synth. Then it seems it's the Ibanez CS9 Stereo Chorus that's actually splitting the sound to the two amps. So my question is, how is ground loop hum not an issue?

    • @spentfromnz
      @spentfromnz 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As for the Octrons, looks like they both have Oct Down turned all the way off, then amp one (F800G) has Dry at 100% and Oct Up at ~80%, while amp two (450B) has Dry at ~80% and Oct Up at ~70%.

      @@spentfromnz he didnt use any octaves until the last album, id say those octrons are there to shape the harmonics of the distortion and give some texture at most.

    Trying to get this sound with a basic amplifier EQ and a bass overdrive and a big muff is a bitch but you can still get a beautiful dirty DFA sound at least
